I love the comparison between Taylor Walker and Jacobs.

On one hand you have a sublimely talented prospect who from all reports doesn't pull his finger out on the training paddock. On the other you have a ruck who has had to earn absolutely everything that he has ever gotten.

If Jacobs continued to work his ass off like he does at Carlton then he's a walk up start to be Adelaide's starting ruckman. If he pulls a Taylor Walker then he wont be in the team nor should he. However, he has shown no inclination that he'd slack off now having already put in so much of the hard yards to get him where he is now.

The comparison is mute.

BTW you undersell Maric. He's no star but in round 4 this year when the crows were at their absolute crappest and lost to Blues by 48 points, he still had more hit outs than anyone else on the ground.

anyone that knows any slightest bit about Neil Craig will know that he does not gift games, yes Jacobs may have been offered a 3 year deal however this does not translate to automatic selection

IIRC , this year Craig dropped Tyson Edwards and wouldnt give him a farewell game , he hadnt earnt his spot in the side .

Then after some sulking from Edwards and pressure from the board , Craig relented and GIFTED Edwards the game !!!

Jacobs wont need to be gifted 1st ruck , he'd beat Maric , Moran and Sellar all at the same time !!!

Craig and Rendell know this , hence the offer to Jacobs and will pay the asking price !!!

Good post, I think 14 is still good for you guys, Jacobs will be a great pick up for you.

As far as round four goes, yeah fair point but you would be amazed at the difference in Robbie Warnock from the start of the season to when he was brought back into the team. At the start of the year he looked weak, wasn't jumping off the ground for taps and couldn't hold a mark. Late season he was leaping over everyone, holding his ground at boundary throw ins and showing some real mongrel and became a decent marking target in the forward line.

The turnaround has been amazing and it's only late in the season that he actually went past Jacobs.

Would that ballisticness have happened before or after Maric out-rucked Kruzer for most of the match?

And no, he wasn't 'dropped' the next game, he played against the bulldogs...and easily out-rucked crows discard Hudson.

Pick 14 will be going to the Blues, otherwise Jacobs will be going to another club. There'll be some face-saving steak-knive pick swaps. Rendell had the chance to rule out pick 14 yesterday and he didn't. Blues have publically stated the trade won't happen without pick 14 on numerous occasions. Draw your own conclusions. Anyway you should be happy. Your ruck situation is a total disaster, and Sammy is a quality ruck.

Swan seems to be playing plenty of things beautifully, Walker, Griggs, Thorton and Jacobs all wont to leave, so pull your head out of the sand, there is something very very wrong at your your club

so what are we worried about

we wont offer pick 14 and it may force Sauce into the PSD and IMO we are a good chance to snare him through the PSD

and if we dont, we will push forward with developing Maric, McKernan, Moran (returning from injury) and James Craig (2009 selection).

however if he heads to the PSD, no matter what club he goes to you get nothing, NOTHING

Nothing wrong at the blues, just doing some much needed sweeping unlike your coach did last year and how well did that work out for Craig and the lads???

All mentioned are Captains of the seconds, all have enough talent to improve Adelaide, but arnt good enough to cement a weekly spot in the blues side.

Also I'm thinking there are a couple of clubs with ruck issues happy to pick up Jacobs in the PSD and while i'm sure we would love to get something, having 2 rucks in front of Jacobs and 1 developing tells me we wont neck ourselves if he goes for nothing.
