Gorringe & Lycett would both go before him.

We wouldn't be grabbing him at #14 because our biggest need is for a high quality midfielder. Our ruck division, while not absolutely stunning, is good enough to get the job done. Heck, it's been good enough to take Carlton's rucks to the cleaners in 4 of our last 5 encounters. Jacobs isn't THAT much of an improvement on Maric that we'd be prepared to waste pick #14 on him in this draft.

If he were prepared to play the same silly games that Ball did last year (refusing to be interviewed by any other club, refusing to have medicals with any other club and putting a high price tag on his head) then I'm quite confident that he'd be there at our 2nd selection - even assuming we trade the Bock pick to Richmond for Tambling. I doubt he'd be there at our 3rd selection though. The question then becomes how strong Jacobs' new found attachment to Adelaide is? Is he prepared to play hard ball the way Luke Ball did? I don't know - and I sincerely doubt that any of Carlton's BF supporters do either.

Whilst I take your point about Adelaide's needs at 14, there is no way Sauce would last until your second pick. There are plenty of teams out there who would happily grab him with their first rounder, starting with the Saints, Hawthorn and Geelong.

Icke said today when interviewed, there;s a few clubs interested in Jacobs and an Adelaide trade is way off.

I would have thought Richmond could do with a ruck as could the Hawks, Saints and the Cats.

While it would be nice to help Sauce get to his desired destination it is ultimately a secondary consideration for the club.

If Adelaide don't want to give Carlton want they want for him (whatever that is) He'll either stay, look at other clubs or take his chances in a draft or two.

If I were him and Adelaide was off the table and Port was never an option I'd look for a home where I would get significant opportunity to play senior football. There appear to be plenty of other possibilities.

I think it's pretty obvious that us Adelaide supporters are on exactly the same page as our club recruiters. We think he's worth a 2nd rounder, and so do our recruiters... and so do most neutrals as well.

The fact that we only value him as a 2nd rounder, shows we really arent super keen to get him - we can definetely get by without him.

Can we just get this trade done already?

Adelaide want Jacobs, yet all their supporters do is talk him down and say they've pantsed our ruckmen.

Yet Blue and Silver dares to label Carlton supporters as irrational traders on the draft board.

I want all of the Adelaide flogs to piss off back to their own board. But I wish we could keep Jacobs...

On the other hand, this 3 year-million dollar deal shows that you ARE super keen to get him.

With retirements of Goodwin, Mcleod, Edwards, Burton it was always our plan to splash some cash around as bait to attract some players at trade week. Id imagine we have plenty of room in our salary cap at the moment, so of course we might as well use it as an incentive to target a player we want.

Can I come work for you?

All over the shop, aren't they? They don't really want him that much, but they are prepared to offer a 3 year, healthy value contract (at a time when 2 year contracts are more prevalent than 3 year contracts) because they have plenty of room in their salary cap. Wow! That is a fascinating concept.

We have said on our board that we will if your supporters leave ours, pretty simple.

The Adelaide trolls that have come from your board are over the top and have outstayed their welcome long enough.

Warnock + pick 69 >>>>> picks 24, 56, 72

He is on $400,000 a season

Jacobs >>>>>> 2nd round pick

For $300,000 a season

These 2 trades seem to reflect their salaries pretty similarly.

CFC2011

Carlton playing hardball. Blues want 1st pick + player in exchange for Sam Jacobs while the Crows are reluctant to offload their 2nd pick.

Looks like we won't trade with Adelaide unless their 1st pick is exchanged or an 'untouchable' player is part of the trade. I think we should explore more options from teams like StKilda and Geelong who would be keen on a ruckmen.

I know f**k all about the Crows, so who are these untouchable's you speak of ?

And this is different from your mob offering Warnock $400k whilst refusing to hand over your own 1st round selection, how precisely?

Good try.

Jacobs been offered $1mil over 3 years, so its a little more than $300k.

However the fact Jacobs was a rookie list player prior to this year, and Adelaide willing to offer a high contract on a player who would only command mabe $200k anywhere else shows the Crows are willing to overpay.

As for Warnock, he proved this year, after a full year without injury that he is a good ruckman which is why he is in our 2 ruck combo with Kreuzer as our 1&2 leaving Jacobs to the Crows for an inflated price!!

Pick 14 != pick 6, whichever way you spin it.

Warnock was essentially pick 24 + pick 56 (pick 69 -> 72 is a nothing trade). Given the slight difference in value, you could argue that Warnock cost us the equivalent of pick 14 in this draft. Pick 24 would probably be worth pick 16-20. The third rounder in a deeper draft pushes that up slightly.

I think Jacobs' value lies somewhere between your 1st round pick and compensation. Which looks like the middle ground given each club's starting offers.

Exactly, it seems to be a hard concept for these Carlton supporters to grasp.

Talia or Davis and maybe 1-2 others are "untouchables". NOT Sellar! He's definitely steak knives.

If we deal with the crows, reckon it'll be.....

1. Pick 14 direct swap for Sammy
2. Talia or Davis plus a later pick - 2nd or Compo Pick

... with a few minor latter pick rearrangements to keep everyone smiling and chirpy.

Seems that the Cats and Saints are getting seriously interested now. Few others might get involved as well. A quality 22yo ruck is a huge asset. We know that.

The Crows basically want him badly enough to offer him a massive contract, but were naive enough to think they could get him for a bargain basement price. The reality of the situation is kicking in now. They're one of many. Back to the drawing board for the crows "negotiators".

:)
