I don't want to lose Jacobs. If we are really trading him, we want a 1st round pick. We got Barnaby French from our 1st round pick so I don't see why Jacos would be worth a 2nd round pick.

Using Barnaby French as a indication of trade value is stupid. Jacobs would hold the same sought of currency as Mumford last year and Sydney got him with a late 2nd rounder. Pick 14 would likely land us a ruck like Cox same as Collingwood got Jolly last year.

He didn't say but yes he would be letting them know of his intentions either way. Won't get any more out of DOA until next week but hopefully BIB has something for us soon.

That's as legally binding as it gets IMO.

Thats the way I took it ;):D. Seriously how many players wear club gear when not expected to.

It's obvious Sydney got Mumford way too cheap, we won't be making the same mistake. He'll be your best ruckman by a mile, he's still improving and is only 22. He'll end up a great player but you'll have to give a bit to get him.

Wow, the silly season has begun early this year.

The trick is really to name the next "big name" to not have signed with his current club .....that ISN'T linked to the Blues.

The draft is going to thin out big time this year and even the Crows first round pick will be closer to an early second round pick (given the 17 y.o. that are already gone) so if they think they can get one of the better young rucks in the comp.......who handed an AA nominee his arse in a final two weeks back.....for the equivalent of a third round pick they can think again.

No more so than comparing trade 14 last year to the same pick this year with a number of high class bottom agers not going into the draft.
Pick 14 this year = second round pick last year.

If we can get something worth while for either of these then a would do a deal. Walker has been here for 6-7 years and hasnt cemented a spot in the side yet. Has potential, but how long is it before potential turns into just an average player? Think he has been misused the last few years and should be a wingman. Heard today that both the club and walker are open to idea of a trade but if nothing works out he will stay put as he is contracted.

I beleive Jacobs wants to leave. He knows he is 3rd in line at best and probably 4th. He would want to go elsewhere to get a fair go (like mumford did). Good that he played well late in the year, currency just went up. (same with walkers last game)

Wow, it's getting crazy down here.

I'll let others point out that last year's draft was even more compromised than this year's and instead focus on the fact that rucks have never been worth less.

Most sides want to run one ruck with a mobile tall as backup, and nearly every side in the comp has a ruck that they're trying to trade.

Jacobs should probably be an upgrade on Maric. Impossible to say for certain yet as he doesn't have enough runs on the board. But you are driving the company bus to crazy town if you think the Crows would give up pick 14 for an unproven, old-style ruckman. 26 or 32 maybe. Giving up a first round draft pick to improve a position in your side five or ten percent is lunacy.

This is a deep draft. Rendell said on a interview yesterday that you could throw a blanket over picks 6 to 18. This means that our pick could land us a player we rate very highly. So I doubt pick 14 will be on offer.

Yeah, I agree. We're kidding ourselves if we think Jacobs alone will net us pick 14 (and please don't bring up the Wood shite again....).

If we get pick 14, it will be for both of them, with a player coming our way.

At the end of the day, really depends how highly the Crows rate them. If they think they will both slot into the starting side and improve it, then pick 14 and a Henderson type isn't too far off the mark. If they don't rate them, then a deal probably won't get done.

You mean who else wears free gear on a lazy day ;)
this may suprise you sin , but the gear isnt free in adelaide !!
i actually know phil davis's dads collegue & the adelaide players are made to make their own way to the airport sometimes & pay a component of their training gear !!

If a team had picked jacobs at #14 and he was developing as he has been i think it would of done there pick alot of justice and they would be more than pleased with him.

He's a big boy who can throw his weight around, turning into a fantastic tap ruckman and has alot more upside and improvement to come.

So as i said, from what he has shown and how much more upside there is to him pick #14 is quite adequate for sauce.

I know Andrew Walkers' sisters boyfriends next door neighbours dad and he thinks that you should leave our board for that atrocious signature.

It's pleasing to read that he's happy to stay if they don't get an equitable deal. Fingers are crossed, win win either way

Need to retain Walker. Jacobs can go if we get something adequate in return.

Why?

He can be damaging when able to freewheel off opponents, where he is basically allowed to do as he pleases, but let's face it, the guy is a coach-killer. I would argue that he is the worst decision-maker in the competition. Continually makes fundamental positioning, ball-handling and tackling errors. Under 14's facepalm type errors. I'd hate to think what is going through the coaches head as Walker has yet another brain-fade. There's a reason he was in the 2nds towards the end of the year... he ain't that good.

If you were an opposition player having your choice of which Carlton opponent to play on, Walker would be #1 on the list. By far the easiest to play on if you're a player who can use some smarts and take advantage of mistakes.

Second round pick for Walker we should jump at it.

They have to drive THEMSELVES to the airport? Next thing the club will make them wipe their own arse.

at the end of the day everyone is probably wasting their time because carlton probably wont be getting anything from adelaide if walker goes to the crows anyway as this will involve a 3 or 4 way trade involving griffin going to perth and tarrant going to victoria etc. throw in draft picks to even things up and bobs your uncle
