Sellar is utterly useless.

Collingwood overpaid massively because they thought (with a lot of accuracy) that a good ruckman was the missing link in a genuine flag tilt.

Wood wasn't the answer, but he was all that was available.

Warnock and Mummy are better points of comparison.

As for Sellar, he'd really just be a sweetener; say Bock pick was undervalued, first rounder overvalued, Sellar would be a good equaliser to the Bock pick as he's exactly what you need, and could still be a potentially very good player (especially with Gibbs in his ear); but it is clearly a gamble.

Except the first rounder is not overvalued because it's really worth about pick 22 thanks to the GC taking players last year.

The fact is that it is not possible for any team to get 22 stars out onto the paddock.
Some can look better than they are for the ability to fulfil a specific role within their enviroment.
Take them out from what they know and their deficiencies become glaringly obvious.

I doubt Geelong would have the balls to throw his name up, but one in five reasonable games in such a professional outfit is just not good enough, and Mackie: You must be kidding, right?

and it often happens with defenders, they play in a well drilled, well oiled defensive unit, the same system week in week out and are made to look better than what they are. mackie is a classic case of this. throw jason blake into that aswell

Granted, I may have been a little harsh on Hawkins, but boy does he tend to look lost at times and not for only last nights game.
Geelong people still love him and see the upside, but I'm sure even they would like to see things move along a little quicker with him, in consideration of the touted potential.

Ruck is not his go and if anyone tells me again that Geelong don't need ruckmen, I'll..........
