Yeah the Crows ruck stocks arent that great, but we may end up deciding pick 14 is better value trying to fix other deficiencies like midfield depth.

Our current ruck stocks may be strengthened by Giles from the SANFL who we could possibly pick up in the ND with a 2nd or 3rd rounder if the GC doesnt get him first. He's young and would definitely be an upgrade on Griffin. Not ideal, but we keep pick 14 this way to use on strengthening our midfield. May be an 'overall' better result.



And that is what will happen for a few days of bargaining between the Crows and Carlton... and then someone will give a little OR nothing will get done.

Personally I'd rather send a KPP player like Talia or Mckernan to you guys and balance the trade up with draft picks (or upgrades). That fixes deficiencies for both clubs and we keep our picks for other possible trades.

Surely if we put these two guys on the table, it would gather a reasonable amount of interest?

However, if you gained Jacobs your team would be a whole lot better from Day 1 - in fact the Crows are offering to make Jacobs first ruck and pay him $1M over 3 years which shows you how much they value him. Jacobs is clearly of greater value to Adelaide than Talia is atm.

Carlton, on the hand has a few good ruckman and need a KPP preferably in defence. Therefore, a player like Talia/McKernan/Davis would be of greater value to Carlton than a ruckman like Jacobs given our current list.

You keep telling us how Jacob's is only worth a "compo pick", so the inference is your club can get someone of at least the same quality with that pick. We're all waiting to know who that player(s) is/are. Got some names?

In 17 games having a high HTA% means nothing when it's the only claim that is presented, in a different side once the trade is made the game has changed and the players aren't the same.

If adelaide trades for this guy and has 8 "potential" bloody rucks on there list again, where the hell does the mid-field depth spring from, where do the running players come from that serve as the majority of the 22.

It was ridiculously obvious they had no ground coverage depth this year and their mid-field players are servicable at best, the idea is to win premiereships which is done on the backs of strong clearance and coverage players and jacobs knocking the ball near players like Cook or Armstrong amongst a group of 'meh' stoppage players doesn't get you anywhere near it.

All these teams that apparently move heaven and earth for rucks and are then successful, aren't picking up potential players but definite commodities and also have the depth they need to offload high picks.
If adelaide find themself in such a situation in the coming few years by picking up some quality coverage players with low picks over the next few years then you look at upgrading...and whatta ya know 4 years till free agency for the "potential" ruck.

But by all means parrot continue your completely one sided blinkered tirade.

If the Crows don't need Jacobs and they have so many quality talls as you said, I guess you would be happy to play Tippett, Moran and Maric in the ruck. The Crows could develop Sellar, Craig and McKernan as tall forwards because you have so many great big men coming through.

That's what every Adelaide supporters keeps telling us.

I think this is the important part of the quote. Mate the source of this is the Adelaide Advertiser which is an absolute rag. Dont deny it would be a bit more than what Carlton are offering but on what Adelaide Ruck stocks are he would be guaranteed a game most weeks where at Carlton he would be no3 and waiting for an injury.
