I love the comparison between Taylor Walker and Jacobs.

On one hand you have a sublimely talented prospect who from all reports doesn't pull his finger out on the training paddock. On the other you have a ruck who has had to earn absolutely everything that he has ever gotten.

If Jacobs continued to work his ass off like he does at Carlton then he's a walk up start to be Adelaide's starting ruckman. If he pulls a Taylor Walker then he wont be in the team nor should he. However, he has shown no inclination that he'd slack off now having already put in so much of the hard yards to get him where he is now.

The comparison is mute.

This is not the issue with Taylor at all. In fact he's a fantastic trainer and took strides in his work on the track during the pre-season, building a fitness base that would rival many midfielders (his 3km time speaks for itself).

The issue with Taylor is that he lacks intensity on the field. He is naturally inclined to do the spectacular, and when he pulls it off it looks fantastic, but when he doesn't his pressure and ability to contest is left sorely wanting.

Anyway, that's not really related to this thread, but just thought I would address it.

Parrot is one of those trolls that everyone loves and hates at the same time, so I'm not going to bother replying to her, but reading this thread has made me increasingly aware of the posters who 'get it' and those who don't. The Crows rate Jacobs and won't screw you over, I can assure you, but some of the expectations here for compensation are misjudged and will only lead to disappointment once a deal is met this week.

Agree, the Cats got totally shafted with the Mumford trade. That was common knowledge, and they weren't happy about it.

There is zero chance the compo pick will be enough for Jacobs, and below-zero chance the 2nd round pick will do. Reckon it's going to be Pick 14 with various swaps. The key now is to fight hard to optimize the swap outcome in our favour. The only wildcard in all this, is if a crows "untouchable" all of sudden gets put on the table i.e like Hendo last year in the Fev trade. The only way I can see the crows avoiding giving up pick 14, is if they trade Davis or Talia.

I don't know a lot about Talia, or if we even rate him, but assuming he's a KPF with talent, it would make sense from the crows point of view to trade him instead of pick 14, and then they'd be able to use pick 14 on a midfielder which they desperately need. They'd still need to throw in a 2nd round pick our way though to balance the trade.

This is going to be an awesome trade week. Lots of twists and turns.
