Not sure if this has been asked/answered but I heard today that apparently players are not allowed to be traded if they were drafted in the previous year, i.e. a player must spend his first 2 years at the one club before he can be delisted/traded. Does anyone know if this is true?

If this is the case then we have no chance of getting Talia.

I'll repeat this for about the 59392829934th time, GC HAVE NO PICKS IN THE PSD! Understand? And West Coast have no need for Jacobs, where on earth did you pick that up from?

Correct but they can pick up 1 uncontracted player from each club so he could go to the GC as an uncontracted player

Having said that with numerous clubs apparently interested in Jacobs we have a bit of bargaining power as we can play each club off against each other to get the best deal

Dear o dear. Even if he wanted to go to the PSD, Richmond would snap him up before you.

I'll say it once more, and then I give up. I know, for a FACT, that there is absoloutely 0%chance Sam Jacobs will be up for grabs in the ND or PSD in 2010.

He would like to go to Adelaide, but its not his be all and end all. It is Carltons duty to try and get a trade done with Adelaide, but in no shape of form will we accpet anything less than what we deem he is worth, because he has categorically said he will not walk out.

If we cannot reach a deal with Adelaide, he is happy for the club to explore other options, particulary in Victoria. If not he will stay at Carlton for at least 1 more year.

Got it *******?
Awesome BIB... if true that he'll stay with us if a trade can't be organised... I hope to god Adelaide don't better the offer... would love to keep him...

Oh another expert....some of you Carlton guys are a little touchy...how dare I question this keyboard warrior...
Or better still, instead of mouthing off and looking like a fool to the rest of us, all but guaranteeing nothing you post will be taken seriously, you could check the guys posting history and see that he is does actually have very good sources. Quit acting like an idiot if you want this to be a quality discussion.

Hahah! You are not getting Talia regardless

Considering were not prepared to give you our first round draft pick. Do you really think were going to give you a player picked at number 13 with a year of development?

Is he deep throat?? Wow this guy could bring down governments with his knowledge...

Sorry... it sounds as though I shouldn't have questioned some guy who claims to know exactly what Jacobs wants to do....cough...PSD draft....bring it on!

Show a bit of respect and remember where you are. BIB has delivered on information time and time again so I don't doubt anything he says. If you don't like it the **** off.

Thats 3rd Favourite at this stage. We just cant guarnatee him the oppurtunities he wants. A deal will get done with Adelaide. Alot of the speculation and rumours of a stand off are eminating from fights between posters here. From what i hear negotiations are moving on nicely. Sam should be a Crow by Saturday at the latest, and we will be happy with what we get. Come Saturday if no deal is done, the Saints will be waiting in the wings.
At least at worst we keep him... and to be honest when you prefer the worst scenario... you'll sleep happy... thanks for the reassurance

You're probably right, I've just heard his name thrown around, and would love to get him at Carlton.

Just want to know if this is a real law, apparently it came in after the infamous Veale Deal to stop that sort of thing happening again.

If after all this he re-signs with us, what a complete wank the 3000 odd posts of bullsh*t going back and forth between Crow and Blue posters would have been - hilarious:D

Just be grateful someone wants to "give back" by living in Adelaide - and pay up accordingly.

Jacobs' first priority is being #1 ruck. Living in Adelaide to be near family is a secondary benefit. But make no mistake, if he was #1 ruck at CFC he would not be leaving (even if Adelaide real estate and haircuts are cheaper).

That means if AFC don't come to the party, he will look at other options. That might include - as suggested today - living in Geelong. Geelong is a city which is a bit like Adelaide (small) but has the benefit of being located in Victoria.

St Kilda is also said to be interested. Others will follow if the Crowmagnon lead goes cold.

Given that Melbourne have apparently offered 12 & 32 for Hale & 17, I'd suggest that a 2nd rounder is probably not too far off Hale's value... just as it's bang on the money for Jacobs' value. Most reporters are expecting this to go through fairly early tomorrow morning.

Personally, I think Hale has zero value as a ruckman - but as a KPP forward who's able to pinch hit in the ruck when required his value rises significantly. Jacobs is clearly the better ruck, but his lack of fitness means that he doesn't offer any flexibility.

Terrible post. Hale is not a very good player at all who has next to no value, if he's worth a second round pick then Jacobs is worth much much more.

Absolute rubbish about Jacobs lack of fitness, you are making this up. This is a guy who had to ruck for almost an entire game by himself against Sandilands after Kreuzer got injured and also had to the same thing during the VFL finals. He has good endurance at Carlton and don't worry, he still will at Adelaide. Stop making things up to try and make it sound like Adelaide are in a stronger position than they really are, it's one thing for idiots like SurfingTheVoid to do it, you as a mod should know better.

Still haven't checked his posting history then I see. Piss poor deflection :thumbsd:
We'll just see what happens then buddy....if the bib boy is correct, good for him. Pretty sure though that when a guy nominates a club and he is out of contract, he normally gets to where he wants regardless of whether a deal gets done or not (think Luke Ball last year)...if the bib man wants to put all his crediability on the line on this one, that is up to him..

Luke Ball what?

Giant price tag and refusing to speak to any other clubs? Not happening. Especially through the ND.

LOL @ Credibility on the line -- Who is this Adelaide guy?

I can't wait until the Jacobs/Walker thing gets settled. I'm sick of Crows supporters.

Just like last year I was sick of Brisbane supporters , Freo and Melbourne supporters the year before, and WC supporters before that.

GC can however sign one uncontracted player from each team. They havent pinched one off us yet. Sauce is uncontracted. I assume that as they havent offered him his own island, lear- jet and as many go-go dancers as he can fit into an end of season trip, that he isnt on their shopping list. Maybe if we can't get a deal done and GC realises he is still not contracted, depending on whomever else they nab, they might revise and make him an offer he cant refuse before the PSD!! Or maybe we'll re-sign him. Either way he wouldnt be there for your pick in the PSD

He wants to go home, it would be nice to get him home but I dont see why we should accept unders just to be nice.
I've heard from a very reliable poster on our board (Vader), that the GC are not interested in Jacobs at all. Richmond have still not matched our offer though (well no club has been reported to offer what we are), and clubs aren't such pricks when it comes to the PSD. You only have to look to last year when Sydney had to wait for Bradshaw, where all other clubs agreed in principle to not draft him before Sydney's pick. A deal will be done, and it won't involve pick 14.

This just off the Sun Website -

Carlton has asked for Adelaide's first round selection, No.14, in exchange for Jacobs but that isn't going to happen.

A deal involving a swap of first-round selections - the Blues have No.18 - may eventuate but both parties were left frustrated yesterday.

Adelaide is also still leading the way for another disgruntled Blue Andrew Walker but there has been minimal movement on that front.
