I think the point is that if this was not the year of draft concessions, Adelaide would have pick 6 and 22 (assuming no priorities). I think 22 is about what Jacobs is worth. Would be an easy trade. As it is, he is not worth 14 and 33 is too little. Adelaide might need to trade into a mid 20's pick but the problem is, most of those are first round picks and clubs are not going to want to trade them for anything but a solid first 22 player.

Exactly he isnt worth pick 14. And considering we dont have a pick in the 20s its a matter of Carlton accepting 33 or lose him for nothing.

Oh yeah, massive difference between pick 32 and 33.

Wood_Duck should duck with such a comment.

You are constructing a convenient argument there. Second round picks would range from pick 17-32 (advise that you borrow some fingers and toes from your mates to check this). To be fair, the mid point of the second round is pick 25. There is a big difference between pick 25 and 33 (almost 1/3!).

Many of us have watched Jacobs over a couple of seasons and rate him according to what we have observed, his rate of development, expected future development, his innate abilities, durability and his character.

He is a very good footballer. This is my personal opinion, that of many at Carlton and is supported by the fact that Adelaide are offering a generous contract. I honesty would rather he was staying with the blues. I would rate him late first round, but probably more realistically early second round pick (likely to increase in the coming years).

Pick 33 would be a bargain for Adelaide. You know it! How about a mutually fair trade?

Sorry guys I reckon 33 is about right. You guys have to remember that barring injury to your other ruckman, Jacobs will probably spend the entire year in your reserves. Make no mistake I'd love to see him at Adelaide but he is no guarantee of getting a game at Adelaide either.

Interesting how you chose to focus on that part of my post. Adelaide, Carlton, and Jacobs all want this deal to get done so it will get done. It won't get done for 14 and it won't get done for 33. I don't know how it will end up, but it will get done. Both clubs know what he is worth and I am sure are trying their hardest to get a deal in the ball-park of his true value.

You've added so much today. :thumbsu:

i would rather lose him for nothing with the risk he ends up at another club instead of yours. nobody wants your shitty pick 33

If 33 or 14 was his true value this deal would have been signed off on Tuesday. All parties want this to go through and Carlton and Adelaide probably agree on his true value - it is just difficult getting this deal done when Adelaide don't have a early/mid-20's pick.

He is, your rucks are shit!
Im not saying we wont end up with pick 33 for him but he would be your best ruck by a fair way.

It's interesting that AFC posters are so focused on picks.

The reason they don't want to talk about a player trade is that it would seriously expose their stupidity.

For them to come up with a fair player swap, they would need to give Carlton a player who can play 150 games in a KP. That's what they want from us.

Why a KP? Because it is analogous to a ruck - a premium position.

Why 150 games? Because that's what Jacobs will play for them.

Will a single Adelaide poster address this issue, or is it too hard?

No, that's where a player becomes involved and maybe a pick from us depending on the player.

AFC ruck coach.

Thats just wrong.

Bit more to rucking than getting your fingertip on the ball at a centre bounce champ.

Maric - shit at tapping the ball, minimal skills and doesn't take marks around the ground.

What does he do better than Sauce apart from move a little quicker wood_dick?

Jacobs should be and will be valued based on his performances, not those he is competing against who happen to be at a very high level.
