You're missing the point that Adelaide would give Sauce a spot in your starting 22, or he'd be a waste of $300k p/a.

Crows obviously rate Jacobs and would understand why we are asking for pick 14.

But I understand where Crows are coming from in not wanting to give it up...the pick 18 and Sauce trade for #14/Talia and #33 is the fairest option I can see

I don't know where that 300k p/a came from. I cant even imagine that to be true and think it is purely speculation. However, stranger things have happened. If that is the case then you would expect that the crows intend to play him in ruck every week.

The price of the trade? Does anyone really know? There are too many ways to put a value on a player, but the only real way is to test it in the market. At this point, supply/demand, are other clubs in the running? - especially with Jacobs showing his preference for Adelaide. If not, that makes it more difficult for Blues to extract #14. But, time will tell and I'm not overly animated by it all.

It is countering the fact that Adelaide's 'rucks are shit' and that Carlton's rucks are 'elite' according to the originally quoted posts. Which it does. Rant all you like.

Firstly, those stats are largely irrelevant considering how young our ruckman are.

Secondly, Jacobs and Warnock barely played last year.

Thirdly, those stats are useless because we are talking about the now, not two years ago when our oldest ruckman would have been 21.

Fourthly, Cloke was tucking for us then.

I. Maric (your only ruckman in the top 25 for hitouts):

2010 Games: 21 Hitouts 370 Average: 17.6

S. Jacobs (one of three Carlton ruckman in top 25):

2010 Games: 13 Hitouts 286 Average: 22

Jacobs has averaged more hitouts than your only ruckman. Maric is 24, Jacobs is 22. So currently our ruck stocks are better than yours.
