I seriously think the crows have a good forward line the way it is

Welsh Jarman/crowell Perrie/Vardy

Vardy/Perrie McGregor Mcleod

I think it lacks a key big man...

McGregor never came on this year
Robran plays back a lot, and is inconsistent when he is forward...

Crowell and Perrie are not very good yet, and it will take them at least a season or 2 before they are ready.

Welsh and Vardy are very inconsistent.
McLeod plays midfield a lot
Jarman is ageing and has lost 90% of his talent.

Spot on. Crows forward line is pretty tame. As an Essendon supporter they don't worry me the least when we play them. Perrie and Crowell aren't much chop, Welsh struggles with a good opponent and Vardy is too inconsistent. Jarman is the most reliable, although age is clearly against him, in terms of injuries. Stupid to say he's lost 90% of his talent...you don't lose talent...only ability to execute it through the likes of injuries...which is the only hurdle for Jars.

But yeah...Crows need an established key forward...Nick Holland would've been ideal, in that he would've taken the pressure off the likes of Welsh and allowed Perrie and Crowell to develop more easily.

Fair enough...

Talent was the wrong choice of words.

But he's basically playing at 90% what he used to - he never has those games where he tears the opposition apart anymore.

ok thats true, people forget that the crows are in rebuliding stage....The average age of the crows at the moment is 23, if crowell and perrie develop, 2-3 years crows will be a force again, if not next year!

Jarman... still has it,all players have injury we just have to use him wisely
Perrie... 2001 will be a stand out year for him after grasping the centre half forward role he did his shoulder..he was at the centre of the Crows mid season winning form until his injury ,after which the crows barely won a game.
Vards need the taller blokes around him to bring the ball to ground like all crumbing forwards
Welsh had a great first half of the year but by seasons end the extra workload was telling not a bad first up effort if you consider he had never played a full game at north to suddenly become a focal point takes some adjustments
If the Crows can pick up Molloy from Brisbane he would give this forward line the extra body and strength its been missing

I agree its not the best forward line in the comp, the crows pumped the ball into the forward 50 more than most teams ,alot has to do with the structure of the team perhaps getting rid of Rehn will help as he was stuck there while getting match fitness

GO CROWS 2001

I think we have a major problem at Centre Half Forward. Robran is a dual premiership CHF but he is no spring chicken now. If we could get another CHB then Matty could go forward again while either Perrie or McGregor develop.

The D9 would be an asset but he really wants to go home to Melbourne so he would only be short term here.

Sav didn't impress when interviewed by the Crows so he wont be coming.

Crows overall average age might only be 23 but players like Robran, Bickley, Smart & Jarman are all approaching retirement. That leaves a big hole in an already underachieving side. We must be more aggressive in luring expats home. The Melbourne clubs seem to have good success doing that so what are we doing wrong?

The lose of Perrie with that shoulder injury realy hurt us this year. He was coming along nicely.

I don't think our forward line is underrated. We didn't score enough goals or win enough games to enjoy being "rated".

It has just been announced that Evan Hewitt has been traded to us so maybe that will make a difference.

Certainly we need key big men up forward. More importantly we need some system going forward. Thats the coaches job.
