True, but what concerns me is he did it his whole junior career and doesn't look like things have changed.... yet.

Charlie just struggles to pull up and compose himself, and hence he sprays shots left, right, helicopters, bit of all sorts.

But like I said, gooch does the exact same fading wobbler out the right hand point post every time. He's got stacks of time on his hands to correct it no doubt, but it's a real shame coming from such a good kicker of the ball. I think the fact that he does the same thing more often than not, will be harder to fix than say Charlie's issue.
If he's a good field kick it's not his action but must be a mental thing. Should be easy to fix by telling him to imagine he's passing to someone in the crowd behind the goals rather than looking at the sticks

He was talking about himself not knowing, not you.

Perhaps your own comprehension needs a quick polish?
Bit more than comprehension required.

Umm, I's wrong to not know kick-ins don't count towards stats.

I interpreted "I's" to be "it's", there's not many other corrections that make sense. Even "I'm" doesn't really make much sense. Have a go at my attempt to interpret, but you can't knock my comprehension based on that post.

Clearly I's = I is :).

Nah, in context I thought he meant is it. Perhaps people need to just make sure they're really being slighted before retaliating.

Yeh, but in response to my post, there's really no context for him referring to himself. I wasn't involved in any other discussion or reference to posters misunderstanding the rule. In fact, I thought it was only Valuus who thought standard kickouts from the square were counted as disposals.

Can anyone who was there povide an approximate TOG for Thommo and how much time he seemed to be resting forward or back

Haven't seen any of the SANFL games this year, so not sure how he is going - but there was a comment on the Port board from when the Magpies and Crows played and one poster (can't remember who) mentioned that credit to Thompson for still giving 100% out there even though he is cooked and unlikely to play AFL again

Concur or are you disagreeing?

I'm a huge Knight fan but he's been pretty darn rusty at AFL level this year - is he at any risk at all of being replaced by Menzel?

I haven't seen any of last night's game but appears to have been a very strong performance by the Menz.
I was thinking the same thing with knight. I think he needs to find more consistency in the Sanfl and Menz seems to be that logical replacement. How goes out for Gov tho...

Otten is out for Gov, too easy.

Menzel for Knight would be a bold, un-Pyke-like move but exactly the type we should be making. Nothing permanent for Knight, but Menzel is capable and if he's in form and a player in a similar role isn't...

My hopes are definitely not up

Just think it's bullsh1t that's all , they are trying to confirm their bias and are too stubborn to relax it
More he's genuinely stuck in no mans land.

He's an inside midfielder who is small, not overly quick, and can accumulate; in a side who needs big bodied midfielders. So really for him to break through he's going to need a Mitchell/Neale like game, and to develop that he needs to be playing AFL.

That's about as no-mans land as it gets. I do also hope we give him a chance as he strikes me as the type that will be fighting tooth and nail to keep it.

Knight despite being ridiculously fit tends to need 1-2 games at an AFL level to get up to speed. He won't find that consistency in the SANFL either.

If it's that easy, then why has it not already been rectified over the course of close to a year with us and probably at least 2 years of quality coaching as a talented junior?

That's if he can stay fit for two games! Love knighta but geez does he get injured easily.

I love the faith that's been shown in Gov and Milera. Just wish we'd invested mackays games in a third youngster over the past 18 months. Any of Wigg, beech etc would have been fine by me.

same reason Sloane has only become a good kick over the last couple of years I suspect. It takes a lot of time which they don't have.

skills are not given nearly the emphasis at training you might expect, elite footskills are simply not as valuable as endurance, speed and strength. Probably around two thirds of AFL training would be pure conditioning and any skills work done in the remaining third would be purely a side effect of whatever drill they're running.

its not like golf where you can spend all day on swing mechanics, footy is far more physical so that's where the biggest and quickest gains lie. Say all of our players could comfortably hit a car from 30m by foot, would it be worth sacrificing a level or two on the beep test and 10kg on everyone's squat for the sake of being able to hit a wheelie bin instead? Probably not.

obviously if you could have both that's even better, but that's why the top 2 or 3 of every draft are significantly better than everyone else in their class - because its rare.

Menzel has been a massive disappointment so far, his game against Norwood has been his so far according to his stats but i think he'll have to back that up a few times I think to break into the afl side. I hope he does though he could be a good addition to our forward line if he finds form.

I was ecstatic when we recruited him. I've started to,give up on him in the last month or,so.

So was I, seemed like a perfect fit, and his skill level would be a massive boon if it worked out.

Right now, this is in the category or right idea that didn't work out.

He was excellent against Norwood...apart from Cameron I reckon he is the fiercest tackler in our squad, he really aims to hurt the opposition.

If his fitness is at the required level, the only thing he needs to do is consistently get involved (hence why he needs a solid month in SANFL before challenging the likes of Knight, Beech for a spot). The fitness question is a big one though because the structure of our forward line means his primary role would involve a lot of running and ground level stuff rather than being one of the key aerial targets.

Bad coaching. its not like we've got great assistant coaches as this board often points out
