Hey guys, I'm kinda new to BigFooty so apologies if a similar thread has been done but I thought it would be interesting to post either your mock draft for the Crows, or the players you HOPE they pick. Maybe FAITH can tell us whether we're on the money or not.

My Hope Draft:
10: H.Hartlett
28: R.Schoenmakers
44: L.Shuey
60: M.Martin
76: J.Boyd
92: K.Massie

I'm still unsure as to whether I prefer Schoenmakers or Broadbent at 28.

Shuey is lightning quick and would be perfect at 44 imo.

Martin provides a good local key defender to develop behind Bocky and Truck.

I really want to see Boyd given a chance. 176cm is NOT too short to play AFL footy, so many players have proved that. At just 19 he is a dominant SANFL player and could become a solid AFL inside midfielder imo.

Massie: Will he even enter the national draft? I don't know, just want to see him back so we aren't forced to throw Kitey into the deep end so early - that wouldn't be good for anyone. Unless the Crows rate Sharples I really can't see anyone else of value being available here. What about Chris A Johnson in the PSD?

Try not to turn this into another thread just about pick 10. Talk about the latter picks too ;)

Post away!:thumbsu:

As much of a Kris Massie fan as I am, it would be disappointing to see Massie picked up in the ND. We didn't need to delist him, we weren't hurting for delistees. If we delisted him and then picked him back up when it wasn't necessary it wouldn't speak well for the club.

My hopes (not that I claim to be a draft expert by any measure):

10: S. Sidebottom
28: R. Schoenmakers
44: T. Rockliff
60: D. Zaharakis (is he a realistic pick here? Would he likely be gone by then?)
76: A. Brown
92: J. Tippett

I trust all things Vic Crow so if Sidebottom is even half the player VC thinks he will be I will be glad to have him. I like the little bit I've seen of Schoenmakers and I've heard good things about Rockliff. From there it becomes a crap shoot. I'll make no secret of the fact that 95% of my draft knowledge is garnered here on BF so if all this sounds familiar that's why. Lastly, I'd love to see us snap up Joel Tippett with pick 92. Who knows, perhaps being at the same club as his brother will be just the ticket to see him start producing results, and he's one hell of an athletic man.

don't the Crows only have 5 picks in the draft and that's assuming we don't use one in the PSD.
3 players retired, 3 players delisted, 1 player upgraded...thus 5 picks.
i know nothing about the draft; but i like the looks of Hartlett, Sidebottom, Trengove (1 of them at pick 10 would be awesome), Schoenmakers (2nd round) and Sibosado for a later pick.

I think you'll find we only have 5 picks, we delisted/retired 6 and Petrenko has been upgraded. As for Massie, he's not coming back, I think we'll find Dangerfield take up that medium defender's role for next year with Kite and perhaps one or two others also getting a shot.

Ahh okay, forgot about Petrenko. I really think we should've kept him on the rookie list until round 12 when we could've elevated him for nothing (think that's the new rule) so we could've had that extra pick.
Does anyone think he'll get a game before rd.11?

Just on Danger, he would certainly provide great run from HB but I'm not sure he'd be all that great defensively like Mass was.

Anyway back to the draft, I would also be happy with Rockliff at 44 if he's there. There's a bit of Paul Chapman about him.

i do think Petrenko will get a game before round 12 and i think uprgrading him was the right thing to do. Not only does it guarantee he doesn't go into the draft (e.g. if he didn't want to stay a rookie), it also helped us retain Moss and Martin on the rookie list, since at least 1 of them can be upgraded by round 12 (most likely Moss depending on his progress).

What do people think of Chris Hall, another SA boy.

he's even shorter than Boyd but I liked what I saw in the U18 champs. Could be a shot at 60 or 76.

I was surprised to see Hall listed at 175. I thought he had grown a bit this year. One listing i saw had him at 178. He's one kid i know a little about, he's a mate of my younger brother. Loves the Crows, i'd love to see us take a punt on him.

No, I think upgrading him was the right thing to do. He had already been upgraded this year, it would have been sending the wrong message to then keep him as a rookie. It would have given him a lesser salary and deprives us the chance of using him in the first half of the season.

Besides, we wouldn't get one more pick, just one more pick in the ND but one less in the rookie draft. And really, pick 92 in the ND isn't that much better than a pick in the rookie draft.

Would love to see Sidebottom at 10, and even Hartlett, but think sidebottom will be gone by 10. But this draft looks promising might get some good young talent.

Upgrading petrenko was the right thing to do, if they put him back on the rookie list it might of killed his confidence but this way he gets a bit of confidence

My dream draft:
10: Sidebottom: Gun midfielder
28: Yarran (big slider): Gun small forward
44: Phil Davis: The next C Cornes (without the D'head attitude)
60: Tom Hill: Bottom aged ruckmen = project
76: Tom Rockliff:potential small forward target

Rookie draft:
Charlie Sharples
Charlie McAdam

Realistically (with a hint of please!):
10: Sidebottom: Gun midfielder
28: Phil Davis: If we want him it has to be here or at 10
44: Nick Suban:Hard at it midfielder
60: Jarred Redden: Ruck project
76: Brad Mangan: Bottom aged mid with great foot skills

Rookie draft:
Charlie Sharples
Charlie McAdam

Rockliff at 76 would indeed be a dream for us, but he'd be closer to the other end of the draft i think

Boyd will probably hit some team's Rookie List.

I think many players will get that extra chance, with more rookie spots available to all teams. Weakening the pool of listed players IMO.

I see someone like Trent Goodrem getting onto a RL, whereas any other year, he probably wouldn't. No offence to Trent; but teams will have more spots to fill, so looking at a wider range of players.

LOL at pick 92. Was a ridiculous, yet bizarrely popular idea pre-list lodgement and now we have committed ourselves to 5 picks it is even funnier.

Pick 10:- Sidebottom/Hartlett
Pick 28:- Schoenmakers/P. Davis
Pick 44:- Davis/Schoenmakers/Rockliff
Pick 60:- A. Smith/S.Wright
Pick 76:- M. Wright/C. Sharples

I hope we draft Matt Wright from Nth. Adelaide he's is my smoky for this year after palying some great football in the midfield and as a small forward this year. I was hoping we'd draft him or at least rookie him last year even with the injuries he suffered but it wasn't to be. Does anyone else think he's a cahnce to be drafted this year or rookied? He's played some fantastic games over the past two seasons.

Pick 10: S Hill/Hartlett/Sidebottom.
Pick 28: Cahill/Davis/M.Brown. (Scheonmakers will be gone by then imo)
Pick 42: Davis/Brown.
Pick 60: S.Motlop/Hall.
Pick 76: Tapscott.

10 - Ryan Schoenmakers
28 - Phil Davis
44 - Jarred Redden
60 - Adam Cockie
76 - Glen Dawson

Rookies
- Luke Rounds
- Rhys Stanley
- Charlie Sharples

10: Hartlett (would be ideal but i think Sidebottom is more likely going to be available)
28: Cahill
44: Hall
60: Sharples
76: Dunne or Hynes from centrals
92: Boyd

Rookies:

1. Ash Duncan
2. Chad o' Sullivan
3. Alex Grima

This list is probably a bit biased towards players from SA, but i think they all have the potential to be afl players

Pick 10:- Sidebottom/Hartlett
Pick 28:- Schoenmakers/P. Davis
Pick 44:- Davis/Schoenmakers/Rockliff
Pick 60:- A. Smith/S.Wright
Pick 76:- M. Wright/C. Sharples
Ok, Saying Schoenmakers at pick 28 is a pretty big stretch; but then saying pick 44 for him? Thats pretty unreasonable.
When I post my 'dream draft' I will put Ryan pick 28.. but I highly doubt it.
Ash Smith at pick 60.. thats gotta be a joke :p
He is one of the most promicing players in the draft.. have you seen his kick? Pretty amazing!
Besides that, if that happened I would probably cry :D

Pick 10 - Hamish Hartlett; I think he will get picked up by either Essendon, Brisbane or NM.

Steele Sidebottom; Bet your excited VC ;) Steele could slip out of the top 10 (wont get futher than Collingwood) but wouldnt be supriced if he is picked up by the same teams I have mentioned above. Also there is a strong word going around he will get picked up by Essendon as they need goal kicking midfielders.
And why like him VC!? Hes a Port Fan  :D

Steve Hill; Talented player with a recent article that one of the WA teams might take him ahead of Rich (which I doubt..). One I would like to see get picked up.

Jackson Trengove; As you all know, I am a fan.. Dont think I want him as much now..

Pick 28 - Ryan Schoenmakers; Once again I will say this is a stretch. Dont be supriced if he is picked up in the PP's. As you probably all know I am a HUGE fan of him.

Rhys O'Keefe; Awesome player who can play midfield / back.. depends who we really get with pick 10.

Aaron Cornelious; Again, I am dreaming. Future star FF/HF of the AFL. If he gets some meat on him, he will be amazing.

Ash Smith; Loving this guy. Plays excelent back and midfield with a HUGE kick on him. I guess he plays well up forward too.

Nick Suban; Tough defender who is very skillfull. Let down is his speed but very strong arund the hips which helps him alot in tackeling situations.

Pick 44 - Matt DeBour; Pretty good talent for a midfielder. Can play as a flanker.

Tom Rockliff; Highly doubt it. Late 2nd rounder for him.. but if he does drop will add some skill up in the forward line.

David Zaharakis; Earlier this year, rated as high as pick 16 or so.. Fantastic speed and will be supriced if he drops this low although there is a chance.

Tom Allright; Can you tell me your thoughts on him VC? I have only seen about 2 games of him and liked the looks of him in the backline/midfield. Strong player with excelent hands.

Mitch Brown; If we dont get a KP before hand, Brown might be the way to go.

Pick 60 - Phil Davis; Everyone here seems to like him. Havent seen much but might be handy down back.

Adam Cockie; Only have seen a bit but seriously looks good to me.

....

Dont really mind who we get now, no-one really stands out for me :)

Sidebottom is a Power fan?! Damn! Oh well, he'll be going for a new team next year, whoever that may be.

Allwright pretty much seems alright to me. ;) What I've seen of him was neither here nor there. Just a good well rounded, solid game with no stand out features, but no glaring weakness. Pretty good hardness at the contest, but apart from that he's just a good natural footballer. What you see is what you get.

Good effort on a few of your write ups.
