KE is on the money, this is what I'm hearing also. He has not signed, but hasn't ruled it out.

Would a bloke who is intending on leaving be involved in the naff flag raising ceremony?

On the flipside anyone notice we rarely hear from or see Bernie Vince? In 2009 he was one of the faces of the club, now is barely visible. Bock did the same thing.

What about that puppy he bought? :p

I think it would be safe to assume that if Bassett is coach next year Walker stays.

Good point. I'll start lobbying the AFC for his immediate appointment.:D

Nonsense. Its not a perception and if anything Craig has tried to not emphasise his weaknesses.

When walker was first dropped the crows were reluctant to go into detail as to why. "To work on a couple of aspects of his game" I think it was, and "defensive pressure"- when pressed further.

That was being kind, he could have said alot more.

This is the best post so far:thumbsu:
In my opinion:)

My concern is Bassett's ability to win the big matches. If Norwood make the GF this year and loses we should not even think about him as a future coach of the AFC.

You're joking right? He goes into a grand final against a powerhouse that has won every grand final bar a couple in the last ten years, loses by a kick, and suddenly he's on his way to being a big game failure???

I'm more interested in how he managed to turn a dead set rabble (sound familiar?) into grand finalists in the space of a year, and managed to keep them up in his second year despite losing a stack of talent to the AFL.

I believe the only criteria for a successful coach is winning a flag. If Bass takes an average squad into the top three and loses the GF isn't that the last thing the Crows need?

Bicks, is that you?

If it becomes a consistent trend, you certainly do have a point, but at the moment he’s lost one and that was to a finals powerhouse in Centrals. However, didn’t Norwood beat Centrals on ANZAC day and that would be the second biggest day on the SANFL calendar. Even if he loses a GF this year, it still doesn’t mean much. If it becomes a habit and he loses then on a regular basis over a number of years, you have a point.

Luckily the club didn’t have that philosophy when they hired Blighty, after all he lost 2 GF in 89 and 92 and using your criteria, he would be an unsuccessful coach and not worthy of being hired.

I see. The test of a good coach is getting the best out of the squad that they have available.

Fair enough.

When Malcolm Blight came to Adelaide he had won nearly 60% of "minor round" matches over 7 seasons but had never won the big one.

When we sack Craigy at the end of the year perhaps we should look for a coach with similar credentials to Blighty

Totally agree All we hear from the Anti Craig camp is he has not won a flag,Talk about Malthouse getting a big go at Collingwood and what do you hear.................Malthouse won flags, compare us now and Worsfold last year................Worsfold won a flag.

Ive listened to a couple of Bassetts huddles and I love the way he gets players to back themselves.

That is so superficial it isn't funny. Bassett has turned the Norwood football club around. He is a leader. Everyone respects him. He has part time footballers playing highly organized and structured football. He empowers players and they play for him ( like T Walker who would be a star under Bassett at AFL level) he has reinvigorated 4 players ages 23-26 and helped get them into the AFL.

You mark him down because Norwood lose one GF by 1 goal to a great team?

You are aware that M Blight coached most of 1981- 1994 without a flag and three GF losses. Under your " system" we wouldn't have gone near him, but he went ok

Bassett will be a great AFL coach, hopefully for Adelaide and maybe as soon as next year

No that's not all you hear. Craigs faults have been spelt out many times. It's posters like you that refer to Malthouse and Worsfold.

What you have failed to build is a case why Craig is the right coach for us and why he should stay despite his shortcomings. The only positives you have come up with he is playing the kids and dropped Walker. As I said you and I could play kids and drop Walker. You have not been able defend his game plan or midfield set up besides saying when we get experinence we will be better. But again that could apply with any coach and our midfield is experienced. Our midfield set up has been ridiculed in AFL circles, and if a 7 yr coach can't fix it then that's enough justification to get rid of him alone considering we have a scoring differential of about 150 points from clearances.

Really good post jarmanagic :thumbsu:

However, you're missing some of the warped logic the pro-Craig crowd are desperately trying to latch on to.

Which is that Blight was flagless when we hired him. Neil is flagless.

Therefore Blight = Craig and we should keep him.

Of course, they don't spot that equally we could hire Jeff Gieschen under their logic and sit back expectantly waiting for the premierships to shower down upon us.

Well thats my opinion on the matter but if you think i am wrong then so be it.

Like Mick Malthouse said to many people just look at the win.loss and dont take anything else into consideration.

We are playing without our first choice CHB,One of our key forwards [porps],Sooky Vince is running around kicking his bottom lip.We are still playing with one ruckman.

And here I was optimistically thinking this new page of the thread would have some reasonable discussion or inside info on Taylor's future instead of the usual 10+ posts about Neil Craig.

Yeah, if you simplify the opposing arguments into a bunch of pre-school level analysis style strawmen it certainly does become alot easier to respond.
