Re: taylor walker

On AFL 360 they seem adamant that Taylor is going to Sydney. I am so sick of all of this. I actually can't wait for the end of the year so at least we don't have to put up with this anymore.

Tonight's "360" would have to be the worst installment ever. They spent 3/4 of the show rabbiting on about Melbourne. They gave the Davis issue vey scant attention. Then Robbo and McClure make "statements of fact" that Walker is going to Sydney, without one iota of evidence. The icing on the s**t cake was McClure saying it must be all the Crows' fault!!

Re: taylor walker

How would he get to Sydney anyway? If they finish in the 8 there will be 8 clubs who can all have a crack at him first. He would have to really hate the Crows or our offer be insulting for him to want to do that to us. He seems to like it here so if we pay him fairly he should stay. Not wanting to start the Craig debate again, but if he was still coach then we should be worrying.

Trade for Mattner?

Yeah it was an absolute shocker compared to it's usual standards.

The guys claiming Walker is heading to Sydney are the same ones who knew he had already signed with GWS. Clearly they have no idea.

Re: taylor walker

I've been asked to provide a source for this in the past and wasn't able to find it, but I'm fairly sure I remember that Walker was on record before being drafted as hating Sydney, and that the Swans were his least favourite team.

Just yet another baseless comment in a long line of "guaranteed" player defections that we've had to endure in the last few years. We're really going to struggle next year with Dangerfield, Tippett and Walker.

Re: taylor walker

IIRC back when we first heard of him wanting to be claimed as a scholarship, wasn't it suggested the Swans wanted him first. But he wanted to come here. By tails himself no less.

Collingwood were another club that were keen on him then, but he wanted to come to the club he supported.

two weeks ago Robbo said that GWS has signd Walker months ago

make up your mind Robbo

Re: taylor walker

At first I thought when Davis signed with GWS that Walker's next contract with Adelaide would of dropped significantly.

Now I think the fear of losing another blue chip Key Position player would cause the club and South Australian football so much damage his price has probably gone up...

Re: taylor walker

Walker for Ryan O'Keefe?

There's chat on the Swans board about an exchange for Grundy because he's a young established CHB from SA in one of the best defences. Both clubs would hate to lose both those players. So I don't know how I'd feel about that trade.

Re: taylor walker

This. He ****ing loves the club.

See how pumped he was for every goal Saturday night (not just his) and the enthusiasm he showed.

This argument comes up a lot but i'm not sure there's any real credence in it. Most forwards would get pumped at goals being kicked regardless of whether or not they love the club. If i got a game with Port this weekend, you can bet i'd be fist pumping and high fiving after kicking goals too.

Sure wasn't happening in the previous games leading in to that match.

It would absolutely break me if he went to Sydney (my least fav team:() but I doubt the rumour has any merit. With Davis gone, the player raids are over for now. Before panicking about who might leave us now or next year lets just enjoy the squad we have:cool:. ATM Walker actually seem reasonably settled in the club he supported growing up. He will sign an extension, have a little faith:).

Re: taylor walker

Was that directed at me? If it was I never said that he would resign with us (he could demand a trade to GWS). Anyway, I found the article I was looking for:

Like I said before, if this is true then I feel sorry for Walker, the poor guy has certainly copped a fair bit.
Big James_37 and I knew about this in April. :)

Re: taylor walker

There's nothing I really want from Sydney for Walker and I don't see any KPP on their list with as much raw talent as Walker.

Regardless of what people may think of Walker abilities he most definitely captures the imagination of people and brings new fans to the club. As a young kid, you don't really notice anything outside spectacular goals and exciting peices of play. In a period where both SA clubs are doing very poorly, having Walker on board will be instrumental in attracting the next generation of AFC fans. Must keep AFC!!

Re: taylor walker

I wouldn't trade Walker, especially not for another KPP; would need a Gibbs like situation, and that wont happen, so no dice.

I wouldnt even trade Walker for a gun midfielder of the same age. Gibbs, Murphy....whoever.

Gun forward >>>>> Gun midfielder. Always.
