I just can't believe we've potentially got another great FF on our hands (the one we've been begging for since 1999) and we're so clearly f'ing it all up. In 10 years time instead of people going "I wish we'd never got rid of Modra," it'll be "I wish we never let Tex get away."

Walker may have already signed with GWS (we won't find out till year's end), so technically, both could be gone.

That's nearly as bad though. If Walker goes and Craig gets the shaft soon after (we can dream can't we?), it'll be Blighty getting rid of Modra and then pissing off himself straight after all over again.

This is not an attack against NVB as I like and beleive he should be captain of our football club but if we had a M. Ricciuto, J. Brown, W. Carey, or even S. Kernahan type leader as captain they would pin him up against his locker and demand an answer regarding GWS.

I don't see NVB as an inforcer type captain (that's not a bad thing) that will demand an answer. I see him as a captain that will help you with your homework, investment portfolios or real estate properties.

We need someone in our leadership group that will take control. Maybe K. Tippett could be this person as part of the leadership group. Put the fear of god into someone them to follow the team rules.

I think the real problem is that Walker and Tippett cant function in the same forward line. They are both out and out full forwards who like to own the goal square and the space immediately surrounding.

When Tippett was missing in our last trial against Richmond and in round 1 Walker blossomed. This is why he is always so good back at Norwood. He has been sole full forward all his life.

Its a damned shame that after so long without a quality full forward we now have 2, however I know who I would rather.

Unless Walker can learn to play around Tippett which I seriously doubt, he will surely go somewhere else to get his goal square back.

If Walker goes because GWS threw phone numbers at him, and it comes out he's already signed, then with people change their view on things, or just blame Craig?

Me - blame Craig.

Money is one thing but not everything and if he was happy with his mates, the coaching group and direction of the club he would bypass some extra coin to stay happy in his current enviroment.

Therefore, I would blame Craig as he seems happy with the playing group but not the other 2 areas of the club he is involved with. Direction and coaches go hand in hand and if he's not happy, taking a major pay raise will justify losing, especially if we are losing anyway.

I dont think they would want to know the answer. Walker is playing like a bloke who has just signed a fat contract. Alipate Carlile style.

It was only 3 weeks ago Tex kicked 4 and Tippett 3

While I agree with the overall sentiment of the post and the sort of leader that we need, I disagree that either of those guys would act as you suggested. Did J Brown do that last year with Rischetelli and Brennan?

I hate to say it but if Craig stays then Tex is better of going to another AFL side but not the GWS. Craig wants his players playing like robots and doesn't like any players who show a bit of flair. As long as Craig is our coach we will continue to play boring defensive rubbish. Put Tex in front of a good midfield and then you will see how good he can be.

Exception, not the rule.

It hasnt worked and it wont work.
I fear you may be right. I certainly don't think it's a coincidence that Walker's goal output has dropped off right as Tippett's has gone the opposite way. Tippett is more suited to our treacle slow game plan and bomb and hope forward line entries. Perhaps the AFC in it's current guise, just isn't the right club for Tex.

If J Brennan was at our club, i would have driven down and encouraged him to leave myself. However, I guess you are right. It didn't happen and J Brown was the Lions captain.

Saying that, wasn't the Rischetelli decision to leave Brisbane a late one. Like the final week of the trade period? I could be wrong and I guess J Brown could have found out why he didn't or wouldn't sign earlier but he didn't.
