Based on what? So far McKenna hasn't shown anything, either good or bad, with his coaching.

Based on the fact they have gone from being smashed by 130 points with every man and his dog saying they would not win a game or even get close to winning a game, to beating 2 teams in the first 7 rounds and being 25 point in front of us in the first quarter.

At this very early stage, he has shown he can take them from being very uncompetitive to being competitive with the second half of the ladder. If they kicked straight yesterday, we were in some serious trouble. As they say, bad kicking is bad football but the game plan he implemented demonstrated he is following a sound strategy for development of his player.

If we keep following the stupid game plan we have, they will be a 5 goal better side than we are as early as next season.

Embarrassing he got dropped or that he presumed he would be playing.

He may be a footballer but he's also a person believe it or not. Bit harsh.
It's not like he would have organised tickets last week, this has probably been planned for a while.

That's a new excuse for him.

Explain how playing out of position excuses him being soft and lazy?

But I don't Believe he is soft nor lazy so i'm not making any excuses for him.

Remove the 2 examples you can post (Port on Westhoff and last week bumps against the Dee's) still won't change the end result of the game. He could do more but I don't believe he should be singled out or labled as soft or lazy.

It's also pretty stupid; pull him aside, tell him you aren't happy with his lack of intensity or effort, but with his friends and family here this weekend, you're giving him the chance to prove you wrong.

Taylor has his 21st tonight. Had friends and family coming down for the night. Organised a heap of tickets to today's game which he gave back. Whether he was justified in being dropped, that would be embarrassing and piss him off. I would say another nail in the coffin.

Gee embarrassing is an understatement, two things could happen now, he may get his arse into gear or just coast out the rest of the season with bags already packed, I hope he leaves to be honest would love to see him play in a better side from FF.

I'm sure there were 2 key themes at the selection table on Thursday.

1. Which is the best team to win us a must win game at a critical time of the year for us.
2. What's going to be the least embarrassing outcome for Taylor Walker.

Please. If Taylor knew he had family and friends coming down specifically to see him for his 21st, he should have htfu in the last few games, done all the coach had asked of him and cemented his place in the side.

As another poster said though, a day at the Parade watching their boy boot 7 while downing a Sparkling Ale or 3 probably made for a better day for them anyway!

Few points on those saying its all tex's fault it's all teh coaching's fault.

If Tex ends up washing out and never getting where we all want him to with the AFC footy club...

Tex - will only have himself to blame.

The supporters - will be totally justified in being filthy with the management currently at the club for not being able to get the most out of him.

How anyone can sit soley in one camp or the other is beyond me. Me thinks we all just love a pissing contest.

Rehny had some good thoughts on this on AA saturday morning I think it was.

And you know this, how?

Because I sit in on selection meetings.

How do you think I know this? From watching, observing, viewing results, listening to interviews, and making judgement calls.

You can add Phil Harper to the list too. The organisation is full of these types of people. Passive, well behaved, overly courteous sycophants and apple polishers.

It's very little surprise that's exactly how we play. The fish rots from the head.

So.. you hear the coaches spouting a unified team/club message and you assume that they must be yes men, with no ideas of their own. Do you ever look below the surface of things, or do you just look skin deep and say "that conforms to my existing prejudices so therefore it must be so"?

Have you ever been involved in a football club?

If it quacks like a duck.........

I actually agree with SP for once:eek: I get the feeling our coaching panel are just yes men. Would love it it if only one assistant was from Adelaide at the most.

They all receive a lot of media training, ensuring that they all know how to remain "on message" - that's players, coaches, football managers, CEOs, everyone. They all sing from the same song book.

That doesn't mean that there aren't disagreements behind closed doors. I'm sure there are. They just don't air the dirty laundry in public. When it comes to the media, they present a unified front, with all club representatives expected to toe the official line.

That said, I'm not happy with the situation where all but one of our assistant coaches is an ex-Crows player without any experience at another club. But these guys all have minds of their own and I'm sure they all have opinions about what should & should not be happening - opinions which don't necessarily accord with Neil Craig's.
