Kurt looked pretty damn handy on the weekend.

/Devil's advocate.

Also, it's not his output that is in question.

Kurts looked pretty shit for best part of a season & a half, about time he looked handy.

As our highest paid player, lets call it baby steps towards delivering on his contract

If he'd been playing for Melbourne, he'd have kicked 10. For that matter, if he'd got a decent run for m the umps he'have kicked 5 or 6 for us, even with the shit selivery.

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Just an interesting point showing the workrate of our midfield. The rare times we actually went forward from a centre bounce, if anyone noticed there were a few times the ball was kicked forward in front of Walker. (scrubber kicks, what a surprise!)

He gathered it on the bounce, had his back facing our goals and looked up for his midfielders streaming towards him to give the ball off as they went past. All he was greeted with was a wall of Melbourne midfielders swarming him right in his face and not one Crow mid to be found. Had nowhere to go and no help to avoid 3 or 4 trying to tackle him.

We currently have not only the worst performing midfield in Crow history but the laziest.

And how would Walker have gone playing for Melbourne getting lace out pin point delivery from midfielders under zero pressure?

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Frightening thought! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

I guess that illustrartes the point that a player like Walker's output and influence is going to be hugely dependent on our midfield winning it's fair share of conetsted ball and getting decent delivery into the forward 50. As opposed to a player like Kurt who thrives on contested pack marks in the square who will always have some degree of influence because our midfield's fall back "panic" forward line entry approach is always to kick it long to Tippett.

Not to mention to a wide open forward line. Tex could have led for 3 minutes and not encountered an opposition blocker. Our zone could have been renamed the "Twilight Zone". I think it is where our players were.

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Give nthe guy just turned 21 his statistics really aren’t that bad

The only standout against other players of his type (except Franklin) is tackling.

Whilst it would be great to see him a defensive pressure expert quite teaching the rest of the team how to kick to a lead is more of a priority for me.

Once that happens we can look at the defensive pressure of Walker.

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Another delusional supporter.

Serious question SP.

Is there actually ANYTHING about this club you like?

Or do you enjoy sinking the slipper into EVERY single aspect of this club?

We have problems. SERIOUS problems! But not every single aspect of this club is shit as you portray it to be.

The only reason that is an issue, is because Neil Craig made it a major focus point in dropping him. People only notice that crap, because they are aware of it. If he didn't say anything, it wouldn't be an issue.

Yes, maybe he could chase a bit harder and add a few more tackles into his game but it shouldn't be a focus point on how he is going as an AFL footballer.

Yes we do - which is why for the life of me, I cannot figure out why some posters consider one of the biggest problems to be the defensive pressure of a 21 year old key position forward who is currently our leading goal kicker this season.

Look, I do agree with your last line but....

Membership - down
Administration - ran at a loss last year (yes i know and expect it be only one year but it still happened)
Marketing (Brand and Logo) - have taken a major hit over the last 12 to 15 months. Many supporters still dislike it and would demand it be changed back if they could. On field performances hasn't helped the branding of the club either.
coaching staff - Quickly losing respect and patience from the supporter base.
players - Not many highly credentialed players among them. Performances are not up to scratch.
On field performances - 2 and 4 and lost by 94 points last game. Is this very good?
Culture - being competitive? were we competitive against Freo, Port or Melb? the culture the playing group hold dear and deep is quickly fading away.

What are the positives to look at? it's hard to find many.

Great post..

It's also funny how we have so many lazy players yet a guy who is one of the biggest on the list (yes not as mobile or quick as the smaller players) cops so much heat over the pressure parts of the game..

Not that it excuses him but if we actually knew how to bring the ball forward and had decent skills, maybe Walker and other forwards wouldn't have to spend so much time chasing ground balls or the opposition with the ball from yet another of our turnovers.. Just another side issue..

And maybe if we had a coach who had an offensive philosophy that rewarded the forwards and challenge the players to move the ball as quick as possible, they would work hard the other way to get the ball back.

At the moment, we are very defensive orientated and the only way they get the ball, is to scrap for it. Delivery is shizzen and its way to slow getting down their.

Give the players the intensive to score more point than the opposition and win a game that way. Make it fun by kicking more goals and winning games that way, rather than winning by a dour and boring way. They have so many rules and systems that they have to follow, they are afraid to make a mistake and even a rocket scientist would struggle to follow.

:thumbsu:

Don't worry, i'm sure the pro NC supporters will find a way of shooting this down. But it's a great post.

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

It could have something to do with the fact that we, as a team, have regressed over those two years. Tippett is not as affected by this as other players, but he's still affected.

Try to recall our midfield delivery in the second half of 2009, and compare it to the slop we're serving up now. I think you'll figure out where the other 15 goals have gone.

Welcome to my web said the spackler to the fly...

Seriously mate you just fended at a fantastic delivery just outside off-stump and were 'just' good enough to knick it on the way through ;)

I'll let Carl have the honours...

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Alex 2 posts I agreed with are #1010 and 1016.

after watching the Tigers game on the weekend It is amazing how an attacking mindset helps a team - looking at Melbourne,Essendon and Richmond as well as Geelong and Collingwood (they however still run from defence)

I would be quite happy to lose games if our team was playing like that rather than lose kicking 50 points or less.

Given Craigy has admitted our team is not good enough why not atleast teach them how to be attacking whilst bringing in the defensive pressure required to be a top 4 team.

Totally wrong.

It's obvious to anybody who goes to games, and pretty obvious to anybody who watches them on TV.

Most of the post defending him here don't actually dispute that he can be lazy and soft, they're saying that it's ok, because his job is to kick goals, not apply defensive pressure.

So could of Phil Matera, Aaron Edwards or Brett Ebert

My biggest issue is he doesn't present enough up the ground due to lack of work ethic. No gut running. For a bloke who will be a millionaire by seasons end I have a feeling whoever signs him could be the real loser. Yes he has talent but in todays game talent alone is not enough. I am sure every one of us has played with or against blokes who are super talented but never amounted to anything because of work ethic.

They encourage downhill skiing. Maybe we should be looking at getting Danyle Pearce
