What a load of garbage. Neil Craig would love for Tex to be all he can be - an outrageously talented goal scoring machine. But if Tex refuses to perform to even the most basic AFL standard then what other option do the selectors have?

Do you think Tex's antics would be tolerated at any other club? Do you honestly think Mick Malthouse would put up with it? Seriously?

But why does?

Are you that arrogant to suggest the only reason is his laziness?

Not ok. The game has changed Carl. I am sure if you drag out stats from when Wayne Carey was under 21 you will find the same. Are you saying Taylor isnt capable of reading the play? No way. Are you saying that he is too young to lead? Would you not like to see Taylor lead up the ground and get himself involved in the play when we all know he can. I will give you the hot tip, IF, Taylor reaches his potential ( which will most likely be in GSW colours) I bet it is when he adds this string to his bow.
What I am saying is that in his career to date that he has stacked up figures that compare favourably with the very best key forwards in the competition.

I'm saying that any other club would be salivating at the prospect of what he can and is doing, fully in the knowledge that as he matures, improves and gains experience they will have a truly special player.

I'm saying that NO other club would be dropping said key forwards back to the reserves bemoaning the fact that they are exhibiting all the normal weaknesses of a 19-21 year old key forward.

You are dead right and this is the way things should occur. I have no problem with this, if only it happened to a few more players.

However, the one key word is 'relationship'. How would his actions and defensive performances be if his relationship with Neil Craig was a positive relationship. Their are way to many stories going around to suggest they have anything but a negative one.

He clearly doesn't listen to him, he's not motivated by his instructions. This is where his actions would be very different with a different coach. So you are correct, no other coach would or should tolerate his laziness (if he is) but would he still be lazy with a different coach?

Was he lazy at Norwood with Trevor Hill or Nathan Bassett?

This has to happen for any club equality to be in place. If not, TW is a scapegoat.

It isnt a bad point you make. It will be interesting. Sheeds didnt get much out of Cupido though. But Im of the belief that if he works up the ground his game will go to the next level

Kepler Bradley?
He is an amazing talent and his stats are amazing for his age, no argument. I dont want him dropped, we need to work with him.
All I am saying is he needs to work harder by pushing up the ground, working his defender and not just leading if he is withing scoring range. Especially when we are struggling to get the ball in our forward half. Impose himself on the game.

And I agree 100% with the 2nd bold part. He should not be dropped

All is not lost, he just needs a kick in the arse to remind him about what is and is not acceptable for an Adelaide player. He'll be back in a week or two, once he proves that he's willing to perform to the team's mandatory standards as an absolute minimum.

If it's good enough for Vince, why is it not good enough for Walker? Heck, even Johncock has found himself in the SANFL in recent years as a result of failing to achieve minimum standards. What's so special about Walker that he deserves to be treated any differently?

Do you really think that any other coach would tolerate his laziness & refusal to put his body on the line for his team? I'm damn sure Mick Malthouse wouldn't.

Are you seriously trying to defend his efforts against St Kilda and Melbourne?

Nobody, but nobody, is defending Henderson. If Walker is dropped, then Henderson MUST go as well. If Henderson is named in the team this evening then I'll be screaming as loudly as anyone else.

I'm not defending his efforts against St Kilda and Melbourne. He had a poor couple of games, no question about that. However the 4 games prior to that he was very good averaging 3 goals a game. He has had 2 bad games. My point is that Henderson has now played 6 poor games without being dropped. Even if he does finally get dropped this week, he has still been given 6 games in a row where his output and effort have been poor. Vince played 4 games well below his usual standard before being dropped. Why does Walker only have to play 2 poor games before getting dropped while other players are being given the latitude of 4-6 poor games before being considered to be playing poorly enough to warrant dropping.

No-one is asking for Walker to be an automatic selection regardless of form, people are asking for other players to be held to the same level of accountability that he has been over his career. You are asking why should he be treated any differently than other players, but if you look back at his career you will see he clearly is being treated very differently from his teammates when it comes to earning selection, and certainly not in a "gold pass" kind of way.

I dont want Walker dropped, that is for sure. Henderson must go, surely!

But why does?
That's a really good question.:thumbsu:
Are you that arrogant to suggest the only reason is his laziness?
No.. but I do think that the problem lies inherently with Tex.

I think he grew up as a big fish in a small pond in Broken Hill. He moved to SA after being drafted and was, once again, a big fish in a small pond in the SANFL. In both of these leagues he was able to be a superstar without ever having to give 100%, he was able to get by on talent alone without ever having to really work hard. As a result, he developed a lot of bad habits - habits which the AFC coaches have been trying to break for several years now.

Today, he finds himself a small fish in a big pond - and he's struggling to make an impact. Talent alone is not enough to make him a star - and he's never had the work ethic to back it up.

The weird thing is that he's one of our hardest trainers off the field. During his first pre-season he was one of our least fit players, today he finishes the 3km time trials only a short distance behind the freaks (VB & Martyn). He's fit enough to do the work, so why doesn't he put the effort in when he's on the ground?

Is it a coaching issue? Maybe.. but I don't think so. The coaches identified this problem very early on, which is why he didn't get a game in 2008 despite regularly kicking bags of goals in the SANFL. Since then he's become fitter and stronger, but his attitude hasn't changed.

I want Hendo dropped, and Walker read the riot act; publically if need be.

I disagree. A lot of people think he shouldnt be dropped simply because he is supremely talented. Bernie Vince is also very talented, not as talented as Taylor, but he has been dropped for not working hard enough when he doesnt have the ball.

It's a good point; Bernie gets dropped for being lazy, and everybody applauds the decision.

Tex might get dropped for being lazy, and it's a disgraceful decision.

Any use in playing Walker at CHF and demanding he run all day?

That's what I don't get - he's apparently superfit and now trains his arse off; so why doesn't he use it and work his arse off on the field?

If Riewoldt or Cloke is having a shit day, they don't just bludge around the goalsquare, they bust their arses and get up around the wings, force themselves into the game.

How would his actions and defensive performances be if his relationship with Neil Craig was a positive relationship. Their are way to many stories going around to suggest they have anything but a negative one.

I'd argue this - basically everybody from the Crows who went on 5AA (Kurt, Sloaney spring to mind?) said they have a great relationship, and that Walker is always playing practical jokes on Craigy and they're both smart-arses to each other.

People are asking why Vince & Walker are held to a higher standard than players like Henderson, who has stunk it up for the last 6 weeks.

I know I'm going to get howled down for this, but let me answer the question by quoting from the Bible (Luke 12:48):
From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked.

Well then you're a clown. Plain and simple.
Why? I'm yet to see any justification for retaining either of them in the side. Both of them have been embarrassingly bad for the last 2 weeks. Both of them would get dropped by any coach in the league.

Disagreeing with you does not make someone a clown. Play the ball, not the man.

The difference Vader, is that Hendo has been bad for the entire season - 6 games in a row (maybe 5 if you think he played ok in the Hawks "T" gesture game) Walker has been bad for 2. Why does Hendo get 6 games to show some improvement in his form whilst Tex only gets 2. Why the different standards for different players?

The difference for me is Walker could win us the game. That is all that Neil Craig should be concerned with. Winning on saturday.

None of this justifies why Walker should not be dropped this week. All you're saying is that Henderson should have been canned several weeks ago - and I think you'd find a lot of takers for that position (myself included).

I suspect that Henderson has been given extra time for several reasons:
  • His problems seem to be confidence related, due to the knock he received in the pre-season. He'll only get his confidence back by playing.
  • Walker is a pure KPP, who could easily be replaced by McKernan (with Sellar slotting into the team in defence). Gunston is Henderson's only viable replacement - and he hasn't exactly been burning it up, demanding selection, in the SANFL.
  • Refer to my biblical quote earlier..
Personally, I'd have demoted Henderson 2 weeks ago - and dumped Walker this week.

You should have just quoted spider man

"with great power, come great responsibility"

Then lets use the midfielder analogy.

Who in form will replace Walker and Henderson?

It's an enjoyable comeback to read from some people, especially last year when a few players were in career worse form and yet were given the gold card.

Player x dropped? no, who will replace him in the side.

Walker dropped? awesome, about time that lazy **** got dropped.

I find it very enjoyable to read that Walker had been doped but someone who isn't in form get his spot. Double standards at the crows under Neil Craig......no way jose.
