If J Brennan was at our club, i would have driven down and encouraged him to leave myself. However, I guess you are right. It didn't happen and J Brown was the Lions captain.

Saying that, wasn't the Rischetelli decision to leave Brisbane a late one. Like the final week of the trade period? I could be wrong and I guess J Brown could have found out why he didn't or wouldn't sign earlier but he didn't.

Don't get all uppety with me, I didn't say NVB was a bad leader. I said he wasn't that type of leader and that's not a bad thing. He has his own style and that (IMO) is working for him. If we must have a Ray McLean leadership system, why not have all types of personalities covered.

Without knowing the internals of the club, I can potentially see where he could have been frustrated and feel like he's been hard done by. He rips it up at Norwood in his rookie year, but despite badly needing a forward NC refuses to play him because he said it's too early to expose him to the rigors of AFL.

The year he does start playing AFL he's competing for a spot in the forward line with Tippett, with both coming out of contract at the end of the season. Almost immediately after he signs the deal mid-season he's moved out of his comfort zone, played out of position or finds himself on the bench until he's eventually dropped for Burton. Tippett meanwhile is spoon-fed playing at Walker's natural position until he finally signs a fat contract that to date IMO he hasn't come close to justifying.

Jump to the beginning of this year where before a game has even been played his name is linked to GWS & he's grilled to sign his name again to another contract. After what happened before, IMO his management sensibly puts it off - either he will play enough games to justify a better contract, or he will go elsewhere for a better opportunity.

Other players have dealt with things like this with maturity and responded well - Douglas could have gone into his shell after being dropped for Burton for the final against Collingwood, but he came back to win a gold jacket. Jericho and Meesen are another story altogether. The way things are panning out, if he can't win a consistent spot in the side maybe he's better off with a change of scenery and a fatter pay cheque, with Adelaide concentrating on other players coming out of contract.

We will probably find out exactly what Taylor is in a year or two to answer the original question. If he does move for the money & doesn't progress, he will have earned the tag of a lazy, spoiled sook, and I doubt anyone will be too upset to be rid of him. If on the other hand he ends up becoming the dominant forward we all hoped for playing for someone other than the Crows, the heat Craig & the Adelaide hierarchy is getting now will be nothing compared to what will follow, regardless of when he signed.

I want Tex to stay and to succede at our club however people need to stop looking at Tex through Rose colour glasses

yes he has some raw natural talent however he is SOFT and LAZY as hell and these half arsed love tap bumps of his when he should have laid a hard tackled gives me the absolute shites

maybe if Tex created more forward pressure and laid more tackles than just the 2 he has laid in the past 6 games this would create more goals for himself and the team.......

being such a good footballer means that you can't keep relying on getting on the end of those cheap crumbing goals

I'd understand why he was dropped now but I'd blame Craig and the club for losing him on the back of previous treatment and the contract they offered.

I think the real problem is that Walker and Tippett cant function in the same forward line. They are both out and out full forwards who like to own the goal square and the space immediately surrounding.

When Tippett was missing in our last trial against Richmond and in round 1 Walker blossomed. This is why he is always so good back at Norwood. He has been sole full forward all his life.

Its a damned shame that after so long without a quality full forward we now have 2, however I know who I would rather.

Unless Walker can learn to play around Tippett which I seriously doubt, he will surely go somewhere else to get his goal square back.

They can both start from the goalsquare, but if Tip goes left, Tex should go right, pretty simple.

I can't remember what the figure was, but last year it was reported at one point that the percentage of forward 50 entries to Tippett was higher than that of Fevola when he was at Carlton. Only thing is, the nature of those entries was such that we never got the efficiency out of those entries, hence Tippett gets 40 goals instead of 80 like Fev.

The fact is that Walker does not get used anywhere near enough when Tippett is in the team. Walker being near Tippett would be as a result of two factors: 1) Coaches instructions - having Walker nowhere near the concentration of forward 50 entries is dumb; and 2) Walker getting sucked into the contest more than intended - why would he lead 25m away from Tippett when he knows it isn't going to be coming to him?

We've all said it time and time again - Walker on the lead should be option number one, Tippett should be the get out of jail option. However, with the way that we move the ball, the get out of jail option is inherently the number one option anyway.

The fix??? A better (or real) forward line coach is a start, but we still have to fix the midfield, that's the hard bit.

Not an issue if our skills are up to it, Collingwood skirt the boundary and yet utilise both Cloke and Dawes beautifully.

The difference is they go straight up the line, they don't go sideways then sideways again and then up the line. By the way our skills aren't up to it, who is responsible for that?

Both Rischetelli and Brennan wanted out because of Voss. Not what another team could offer them.

If he was entirely happy with his situation at the Crows, you wouldn't think he'd look at other offers. Like with Tippo, he told his manager he wanted to stay at the Crows and to get the deal done, but obviously his manager still looked at other offers in order to get Tippo the best deal.
If Walker walks after growing up a Crows fan, and wanting to play here so bad that he knocked back offers at other clubs in order to get here, i honestly don't think we can blame it on just money.

Of course you will miss him, he's a young KPF with a sh*tload of ability and could turn into a matchwinning player. Not to mention he is around the same age as Tippet and a lot of your other emerging players.

No, I'm pretty sure that Rischetelli was one the Gold Coast uncontracted picks. Bock and Krak were the early ones announced, but Ablett, Harbrow and Risch were announced later. I am pretty sure that the only reason Risch didnt announce it sooner was because he was due to win the Brisbane B&F.

I'm glad you posted this.

IMO I think it is the result of poor coaching because as a side we do push long to Tippett constantly. Against Melbourne, I lost count of the amount of times that Tippett was double or triple teamed. It's that blatantly obvious to all and sundry that we do it yet every week we go with the forward structure and plan.

Technically they were all uncontracted player signings. Ablett & Harbrow were announced later than the others because they were still involved in playing finals with their former teams.

The Brennan deal was technically an uncontracted player signing, but was wrapped up in a trade deal. By allowing him to go to GC as an uncontracted player, Brisbane were able to acquire a compensation pick - which they promptly traded to GC in order to upgrade their position in the ND.
