So all the people wanting people not from Adelaide on the coaching panel would rule out Simon Goodwin, Nathan Bassett, Shaun Rehn or Roo returning to the panel? How absurd. So Buckley will not succeed at Collingwood as an ex-player? Bickley and Hart have been at one club but I am sure in their long career they have learned from a variety of coaches. Matty Clarke has been at Brisbane, St Kilda and Crows and must surely have gleaned information from a variety of coaches. Similarly Camporeale.
Give me a panel that appears united and sings from the same song book in public. To suggest that these strong men do not have their own opinions and air them in coaches' discussions is demeaning and in my opinion ridiculous!
To be honest, I'd prefer to see them gaining their coaching experience at other clubs - then, maybe, coming home. To be fair, most of them have had the wisdom to do exactly that. Bassett & Rehn have done an apprenticeship via a job as head coach at a SANFL club. Goody is currently an assistant coach with Essendon, learning from Hird & Thompson. Roo is the only player who has not, as far as I'm aware, done an apprenticeship anywhere.

I am all for Neil Craig but I can not understand why he doesn't think it would be good for the club getting outside influences in? He seemed to when he first started ( Pyke, Noble, Hamilton etc) but has since looked inside his own nest. I would love someone to explain the merit in having ex-players as assistants? Makes absoloutely no sense....
We need to tap into Collingwood, Fremantle, Sydney... There is no salary cap with coaches, there is no excuse...

I hear what you are saying but it would be hard getting interstaters here for the long haul soon as they get a offer from the home state they are off.

I would love to see Gavin Brown in the Crows coaches box but would he want to leave Melb???

Ms.Wilson said something about Goody and coaching us next year. Its only because Thomas was still trying to sell the Saints that nothing was said.

I have been saying for a while he will be the next Crows coach.

The only bit of fresh air our club has had in years is Matt Rendell, who has had more clubs than Tiger Woods. I would also love to have one of Gavin Brown, Lappin, Lambert, Brian Royal, Laidley, Neeld on board aswell. I have not even heard of our club chasing anyone of note since Viney. Even if they are hear for only two years, who cares?
Yes, Clarke has been to a few clubs. But having both Hart and Bickley IMO is a waste of time.

apologies - when you respond to someone in the manner you did I did assume you were taking the opposite view point.

I normally say something like "I disagree" when I am taking the opposite view point. ;)

no thanks!

The rest whatever - I'm not sure if it here or there at the moment.

Tactically would compliment Craigy and would certainly challenge him.... Not part time though or on Skype:D

Over rated and refuses to live in SA while working for Port. His next coaching role of any kind will be in Victoria.

The whole Laidley con-job is pretty impressive; he got sacked because he was a failure, yet they somehow spun it to make it appear that he was a gun coach

He did a remarkable job at North... He was not good with the media and still isnt. I realise he wont come to SA I was merely saying tactically, someone like him would be a great fit, someone to challenge Neil.

Oh and resigning and being sacked are 2 different things, especially when the president insists he tried talking him out of it on more than one occasion.

Almost as impressive as Craig's.

Laidley finished top of the table twice in a row?

Was dreadfully unlucky not to play in a GF due to injury?

Missed another Prelim arguably due to an injury to a keyplayer and inept performances by senior players?

I know you hate Craig, but for christ sakes, can you try and avoid repeating it in every single post you make?

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

Disagree. I think Walker's a major talent and I love him in our side and at our club this year and hopefully beyond.

However putting in 100% effort (of which defensive pressure will be one component) should be a non-negotiable. IMO he does not try hard enough when he doesn't have the ball and this kind of attitude can often be corrosive in a team environment. He has to be held accountable for this deficiency in the same way Symes does for poor disposal efficiency, etc, etc. Also to say this wouldn't be noticeable unless highlighted by Craig is disingenuous - some of his poor efforts are simply glaring.

This doesn't mean (and shouldn't be construed) as saying Tex's negatives outweigh the positives...not even close, but you have to hold people to standards and I think this is a hallmark of how great teams (like Geelong and Collingwood) operate.
I also believe that TW is a very talented player. What we need is someone who can help change TW's work ethic. I liken it to a cricketer. Can play above all others in the Sheffield Shield but struggles at test level. Clearly the man has the skill and talent but attitude/work ethic is questionable. I see our delemar being how hard we push the guy because if we push too hard he WILL go to GWS. But if we dont push hard enough he will never realise his full potential.

Re: Crows plan Walker talks!

The baffling thing is, his work ethic when it comes to training it's top shelf!

He's got it backwards, you aren't meant to bust your arse on the track and then slack off on gameday ;)
Thats the johncock way :D

Maybe we should make stiffy tex's mentor making him slack off during the week so he is fresh for the game? :p

You have an opinion. I have an opinion. Everyone else on BF has an opinion as well. Why on earth would anyone think that our assistants don't have opinions of their own?

I was reading your debate with S Pete and one thing that came through was the passion. Clearly there is an issue at the club and my opinion is that it is within the coaching panel. I believe that Vader is being a little niave if he believes that our Assistant Coaches are not "yes men". Whilst we dont have proof we do try to analyse what we can see and given our progress someone somewhere is not trying something new. So sure S Pete may not have proof but he is not being niave about what could be happening. I also agree that it would be great to get some outside experience into the coaching panel. We just keep on doing the same old things. Lets get some new blood. I would like to see some of that new blood have what I call some "Neil Kerley" in them. We need some aggression. Our Mr Nice Boy attitude maybe nice and idealistic but it wont win us a grand final
