Re: Taylor Walker: 'I want to stay'

Didn't Bock essentially say the same thing last year? We all know what happened to him... My hopes aren't high just yet.

No, Bock said "I would like to be a one Club man". I'm sure he would have liked that, but GC made an offer he couldn't refuse.

Walker saying "I've got no intentions of leaving" is quite explicit.

Re: Taylor Walker: 'I want to stay'

Fair to say there might be a lot of humble pie eaten on this board:thumbsu::thumbsu:

Never going to happen. They all believed that Craig was the reason he was leaving. Now Craig is gone, he will stay. (I don't believe that for a second, but I'm betting they all do).

Re: Taylor Walker: 'I want to stay'

Can't help but wonder if his sudden declaration of staying is because he now knows GWS won't take him

But who cares, he's a ripper :thumbsu: Hope he stays a Crow for life!

I would have thought it was the fact that the GWS speculation can't drive his price up anymore, so there's no reason to stay tight lipped. When Davis came out and announced his defection, Taylor's biggest bargaining chip (apart from talent) evaporated.

I thought he was always going to stay, however in the climate of today's AFL, you never really know (as was shown with the Davis decision).

Fantastic news! Very happy. Will put bums on seats for years to come! :thumbsu:

Re: Taylor Walker: 'I want to stay'

Despite the pair sharing the same manager, Walker said he had "no idea" Davis had even been approached by GWS, initially believing the defender was addressing the players for a different reason on Tuesday.

"A few of the boys actually thought Phil was going to retire because he was a bit emotional when he came in to talk to the group," he said.

"We thought his shoulder must be no good … but then we clicked on."

His shoulders might be worse than we thought?

So you must have contacts who know Tex who can contradict what we've been told? As late as last week I was told he is more likely to stay now that Craig is gone.

You would be very naive if you don't think who your coach is has a baring on whether you stay at a club? Why did club legend Shaun Rehn leave the Crows?

I agree, it could all be coincidence but if he did get on with Craig, was getting games when he should have, and the club was making a decent offer surely he would have announced this before? I hope that we will see the best of Walker if he is played in his best position and told just to get the damn footy and kick goals and not worry too much about the other stuff. We don't want him to be a Fevola who never chased, but let's face it, he is a forward, his primary role should be to kick goals.

I'm ecstatic Neil "no imagination" Craig is gone, even if for no reason other than the players get to play more exciting footy. Already in one game we have seen players in better positions (VB midfield, Walker FF etc), way less sideways crap, first score over 100 for who knows how long (yes I know it was against port but we still had to kick the score ourselves), actually tackling, more physicality etc. Loved it as a supporter. The stupid thing is Neil Craig probably could have got this response from the group if he wasn't so stubborn and boring in his gameplan.

Re: Taylor Walker: 'I want to stay'

Going to be a massive rivalry between him and Davis.

I can't wait to see them play on each other!

He actually just addressed this on the radio  He said that the Crows had traded in Clarke as a first ruckman, Marsh was around as a second ruck, and Biglands was coming on. They gave Biglands a try in the first ruck role in the last round of the season and Rehn knew that his days were numbered. He would have wanted a 2-3 year deal for security and it would have made things difficult for the club, so by him going to Hawthorn the club was able to get a draft pick while still having ruck cover.

The indication he gave was that it was a question of opportunity and security. He didn't seem to feel he was leaving a gaping hole in our list by leaving.

Also, I have no doubt that the coach would have a bearing in whether or not you want to be at your club. I just don't believe it had come down to a that and nothing more.
