I can't see Taylor playing for anyone else seeing he has been a lifetime Crows supporter.
He is well and truly one of the young group coming up.

Trigg was on 5AA and asked about Tex. Rates him highly and wants to put a contract to him which is a good one and thinks Tex would be happy with. But Tex wont even look at it. Surely if youre holding out for a higher contract you would want to see what the starting point was. Either he is going or being poorly advised.

Look, I don't know either way and don't want to type something I really want to say because I'm just waiting and seeing before letting fly with a rant to end all rants if he does leave. But my gut feel about it is, he just wants to play good football and get off to a good start. I imagine he wants to play good football for 6, 12 or 18 weeks without worrying about it and has said to his management - no deal what so ever until this date.

I tend to agree

once you look at an offer, you need to respond and then suddenly your in a discussion / negotistion no matter how informal...

at this point of time Tex seems focus on letting his footy to do all the talking and later in the year he will sit down with the club when he believes he has more currency in the bank to negotiate.....

IMO people are reading a little too much into Tex's preference to negotiate later in the year

maybe we should get the crowd to start chanting "Wonky wonky" to show that we are even prepared to change his nickname to keep him here

I thought it was Wacky? MMM were saying Wacky Walker last year.

Where the hell did you get Wonky from? :D

Yep, agree with what you have said.

As for the last line, people are jumping at Gary Ablett, Nathan Bock and a few other players shadow. They put negotiations on hold, therefore, anyone who puts negotiations on hold must be leaving.

I dont think they are at all.

A refusal to even consider an offer from the club is about as sure a sign hes gone as could be.

The 'increasing his value' bullshit doesnt even come close to working if he wont even look at the value we've attached to him now.

Mini rant

If he leaves and we miss the finals or go out in straight sets again - Neil Craig has to go.

Because I doubt they would give him an unbelievable too hard to refuse offer at this stage of his career. Meaning, he's pissed off with someone and where there is smoke, there is fire.

He recently brought a house in adelaide... if that helps calm u crows fans down :P as long as he doesnt fall out with craig then i can see him staying

So, I own property in Tasmania and country NSW and will never live their.

Got to spend your money on something, houses is a much wiser choice than hookers and cocaine....unless you're Charlie Sheen.

We agreee:) It does not make any sense not to look at the offer. What if it is an absolute ripper and one you were holding out for? Holding off is going to mean he will have to listen to the speculation all year when he should be concentrating on having his break out year.

His refusal to sign can't be money related because he doesn't know what's on offer. I feel it's do with how he perceives he was treated and wants to see how the year pans out. More of the same and he will walk.

Maybe the lure of playing at FULL FORWARD will be too much for him... ahhh that GWS forward line would all be his.

sorry however I don't agree

as I have said earlier in the thread, the GC and GWS situations are unique and if I was Tex no matter how much I loved the club and wanted to stay I too would leverage the current landscape for no other reason but to put a little tension in the process.

I have no issue with Tex delaying talks, there is little to no benefit for Tex to negotiate now and there is little to no risk in waiting to the back end of the season to pen a new deal.

there are always thing you can't control, but within that context I like the fact that Triggy is trying to get the message out that we're trying to offer a good contract.

of course there may be differences on what a good contract is, but at least we're engaging with the supporters.

There is a risk to Tex if it impacts on his footy this year. And there is nothing to leverage, he hasn't seen our offer. He can't ask for more when he doesn't know how much is on the table. This stinks of someone who isn't happy and money can't be the issue otherwise he would ask to see our offer.

Can't be; we have a great culture under Neil. The players love him and he loves them. People have said so.

I agree, I don't think this is about money. I think it's one of two things. He wants to have zero distractions from the contract talk and he is waiting for a clear message for how he will be treated this season.

I agree he is waiting to see how the season unfolds. Ive got a bad feeling the tough love he has received may backfire on us.

See, this is exactly the type of argument that makes no sense what so ever.

What additional leverage exists at the end of the year as to now? Practically none. We already know he could sign with GWS. Refusing to look at any offer what so over is not characteristic of a negotiation strategy, its the opposite... its a refusal to negotiate.

I have this suspicion myself. Certainly if many of us feel he's been shabbily treated I couldnt be particularly critical if he did.

Perhaps hes waiting to see our coaching situation before entering negotiations? ;)
