Be hands down the toughest thing I've ever had to stomach as a follower of sport, if he was to leave. Agree with Gets, we ****ing can't win, watching him slot goals with doubt in the back of our minds. I'm ****ing shattered already and he may yet sign with us.

Such a talent. Lose him and we're coming from a long way back. He's too rare.

do you realise you weren't the only team to lose a player to the Gold Coast right?

FFS your mob need to pull their head in
Yea mate i realise we arent the only team, and we will probably be the first to lose one to gws. The afl need to put a rule in to stop this rubbish of losing 2 players to new clubs.
The way walker has been treated so far by craigy would you blame him if he walked. He has talent but they just wont play him where he is meant to. If he were to stay then adelaide would be unstoppable in the forward line.
But this is being played out similar til last year in "contract talks held til end of year"
it sucks. good luck in keeping him

Hard to get excited watching this guy knowing he will probably be deserting at the end of the year. I would prefer it if we didn't play him to be honest. Play a kid who is going to be around in 3 years in Walkers place and who will give us something to look forward to for the future.

 You've got to be joking.

But to the detriment of the player? Clearly there was a breakdown of relationships at Geelong last year. The Bock situation got messy. While their managers are looking after their financial interests right now, I'm pretty confident that Scully and Walker feel at least a bit shitty for the situation that they're in and have put their clubs in.

interestingly it only came out afterwards just how badly broken the relationship was between bomber and ablett. wasn't ablett basically saying thy thry hadn't spoken for virtually the entire season.

I wonder if Geelong fans would have viewed the season differently if they'd known that?

* not saying that's the case with walker, not saying its not. don't know. but it is relevant when you think of all the things said by people who knew this, for the attention of people who did not.

heck we don't know if we came close to losing tippett or not. I'm going to assume no, but given we ponied up the cash its hard to be sure

The first 7 words says it all. If McKernan keeps playing the way he did and Kurt stands up Walker ain't going to play much for AFC

Stuff asking Tex if he's leaving.

I'd ask what happened to his set-shot technique. It used to be such a beautiful thing.

I know it sucks doesn't it. Will be a great player in the future but unfortunately probably not for the AFC. Losing a player of that calibre will set us back years.

Then again, McKernan??? :thumbsu:

How do you know he won't be playing for us? Seriously, some of you should stop for a minute and think and stop listening to Cornes and Rowey who only dribble shit.

Correct weight.

My perception (and that's all it is) it that Neil Craig is better equiped than Bomber Thompson to cope with managing relationships. You will never, ever hear Craig take pot shots at a player like Bomber did with Ablett, and it obviously rubbed him up the wrong way.

heck we don't know if we came close to losing tippett or not. I'm going to assume no, but given we ponied up the cash its hard to be sure

Now that is a scary thought...

Until he signs it's going to be a long year. However as it stands right now he ain't in our best 22.

Christ, I hope Walker doesn't read this thread, 'cos if he did and there is any indecision in his mind whether to go or not, the attitude of so many of our "supporters" would well and truly help him decide to leave.

So many glass half empty types on this board. It is dead-set depressing. If he leaves, there is nothing we can do about it. If he stays, then great, it will show just how dedicated to this club he is.

But please, until he goes, if he goes, cut out the doom and gloom and the the negative crap. If this type of attitude is displayed at the home games expecially, you might just decide the issue for him.

Can we just stop talking about Walkers signature with the club until the end of the year? Seriously, he's earnt the right to delay his decision until the end of the year, his bargaining power will only rise, trust me, he won't leave us.

Put it to bed fellas, I hate seeing this thread rise in post count, it's just pointless talking about it at the moment, he won't go, it's as simple as that, let him play footy for the rest of the year so he can sign on bigger bucks with the crows than what he will get right now.

GO crows!

This made me laugh.

I always find that when comparing players and their worth, ask yourself this question: would you trade one for the other. This will tell you which player is more valuable. So if you were person pulling the strings - and taking off your crows goggles - would you right now trade walker for ablett? Ignore everything else, ignore who's won premierships and who hasn't. Just both players head-to-head. Would you give up walker for ablett? If yes, your comment above must be retracted.

Absolutely would trade one for one to get Ablett.

Not quite the point I was trying to make and I made it poorly.

I look at the Ablett situation and feel that Geelong put alot into him but also got alot out of him. Sure they might have got more but the club is going through a bit of a change over the next few years - its a huge loss but they are kinda moving on (including having a new coach).

Then I look at our situation - we've put quite a bit into Tex but not reaped the benefits yet. He has huge potential (not Ablettesque potential) and the club is looking to challenge over the short term with him being a key component to that sucess.

This is how I looked at it - we've got nothing for Tex yet and so if we lost him it would be the biggest 'loss'.

Geelong got a ton out of ablett - sure they may have got more, but in some ways they are undergoing a changing of the guard anyway with a new coach and some key players at the back end of their careers.

I'll admit looking at the statement again its a weak point - but still one I'm not uncomfortable with. Campbell from the hawks... no great loss for what he may have brought to the club AND he's already brought them a flag. Bock... loss, but not an unrecoverable one, esp when you consider his injuries.

If Walker leaves we have McKernan. I am not sure we will lose much.

Have to keep at least one of these guys.

Let's not go nuts.

Walker would be a huge loss for us. Too much talent and too much time put into him. There's no way around it.

Smack had a great game and I really rate the kid, but he would not make up for Tex. Let's not start thinking that just because he had a great pre-season game and Tex didn't.

I personally dont think we are gonna lose Tex. But I can see a silver lining if we do. The club needs to plan for both scenarios.

Plus we still have Tip.
