Walkers manager should be shot if he didnt give his client every opportunity to maximise his next contract. It as simple as that. Now is not the time. It is when his stocks are at its highest. Wait for him to have 2 or 3 big games in a month at some stage this year, then his manager will have talks with the Crows.
Players have managers for a reason.

I believe walker wants to see what GWS are prepared to offer.
whether that is for leverage, curiousity, genuine interest - i don't know.

No doubt. And I bet he is curious what they would offer after kicking a couple of bags in a row and winning a game of his own boot

I would hope Captain Van Berlo has eyeballed him and in the style of Mark Ricciuto asked him outright, "have you already signed with GWS" and if he has, I'd be in favorite of sending him back to Norwood.

I'd also want NC gone as IMO he was the main reason he is even considering leaving but we need player who are committed to the AFC short term and long term future

It may be in the Crows interests to wait till later in teh year also. No use throwing everything at him to stay and he doesn't live up to potential.

I beleive they have already given him their offer, not sure if he's signed yet or not but he'd already have a substantial offer on the table.

From my understanding he can sign a heads of agreement to play for GWS or accept an offer sheet but they are still not legally binding. But if he's made his mind up already, we can offer him the farm and it won't matter. Especially if money is not the motivating factor.

But you won't know that for 4 or 5 years. That is not a short term thing. Richard Tambling and many other players are still living of their potential tag from his early drafting.

That is a long term vision.

But we will know more in 6 months that we do know now!

Naturally.

However, those people in charge are paid to make that prediction. They would have enough data on him by now to be able to make that judgment.

If Walker leaves we have McKernan. I am not sure we will lose much.

Have to keep at least one of these guys.

I am concerned. Rooch is back on AA and he agrees with two things I posted last night. He mentioned if we lost Walker we have to keep McKernan. Even said that if he was GWS would Walker be the best option, hinting at SMACK??

He also commented on how lazy Port looked when the Crows applied pressure, and the seior guys out there lead the charge in dropping their heads when things got tough. The basis of my Bay13 thread last night.

Should I be concerned, seeing the same things in our training drill last night:eek::eek::eek:

? more info....

Watch Bock out there and he was a business as usual man. I held that line over the whole year, like, if we were going to lose anyone of the names mentioned, it was going to be him. He struck you as the sort who'd put the offer before the circumstances (which contrary to what some on here say, is not the case for many, many footballers).

Watch Pavlich back in 2007 when Freo came to AAMI Stadium amidst speculation about his future, potentially a return to Adelaide. The passion with which he went about things out there, the outward displays of togetherness and mateship, it was abundantly clear that he wasn't going anywhere. And so he remains.

Buddy Franklin was offered absurd money from the coast, well above what he's on now. Tow the "set your life up" line and he'd be a Sun now. But Hawthorn's where he has set himself, and that was obvious by virtue of how he carried himself out there.

Ablett's case was unique, having come through a period of immense success, with there being a sense that there probably wasn't a ton more to come with that group. For him, a move to the GC was a chance for a rebirth, an opportunity to chase another of those periods, leading from the front towards it. I'm strongly of the view that if the Gold Coast had entered the competition ahead of the 2008 season, and thrown decent cash his way, Ablett would not have budged.

Watching Tex out there last night, a la the Pav, this is where the bloke wants to be. I don't think we'll lose him.

I hope Walker stays but again last night he disappointed and to my way of thinking "potential" would be a good nickname. He needs to perform this year otherwise Crows management could not offer him a much improved contract monetarily wise just to hang on to him. There are other players that may well deserve a greater pecunary benefit and miss out if we pay Tex too much for an underachiever

Watching AFL 360 on Fox yesterday and a disturbing fact was brought up from last season.

Every player (8 in fact) who suspended contract talks with their then current club until the end of 2010 had in fact already signed or committed to sign to the Gold Coast.

How does this relate to the Walker situation?

Not saying you’re wrong because as in many cases that was the truth but didn’t Mathew Pavlich, Simon Black, Cameron Bruce, Daniel Wells, Nick Dal Santo and Chris Knights say the same thing and they never left their club. Well except Bruce and he went to the Hawks.

I think you (or they) will find that it's the other way around. All 8 of the players who signed suspended contract talks. I'm sure there were plenty of other players who put things off before eventually signing with their original clubs.

OK enough. Tex is gone:eek:

Let him do as well as he can for us this year and if by some amazing turn of fate we manage to keep him, all well and good...and if you read this Tex, good luck surviving in the ****hole that is 'Western' Sydney. You will be asking yourself everyday "WTF have I done?!"

And..... hello SMACK! looking like a worthy replacement.

Its all good to talk about it, but posters saying "ömg he's gone, the sky is falling" need to build a bridge

Fact is, we don't know either way, so chill
