A good idea to talk down Walker on here big time so when he reads this thread he will realise he better resign for us soon or before he knows it he will be delisted and in the pre-season draft for GWS to get for nothing.

It would be interesting to estimate how much the GWS would currently value Walker at. If it's based on AFL performance to date (ie in the main quite average - ) how much would he get? You wouldn't think even with their extra cap they would throw the kitchen sink at Walker. Its a dangerous thing to do, especially for a new club, to throw ridiculous amounts of cash at youngsters based on potential and not performance.

I don't know how high GWS would rate him. We know the Crows aren't falling over themselves to throw dollars at him, to the point that his manager isn't even going to waste his time with our initial offer.

Why do you think he will stay Mac?

Partly for the reasons you've given yourself, as there would be scores of better performed players that GWS could hunt for the money they can afford to pay. Unless Walker kicks around 60 plus goals this year I can't see GWS offering a talented but inconsistent, somewhat lazy player huge money.

Tex is a dead set country boy, who would be stifled as a person by the vastness of Sydney, and centred in one of the less desirable suburbs of that huge sprawling metropolis that is Sydney.

On top of that you can discount his salary by 20% or more to make up for the increased cost of living in Sydney, if he was silly enough to go there.

IMO GWS will be a basket case for about 3 years or so until their young lads mature, whereas he is currently playing for the team he's always loved and dreamed of playing for, which will definitely be a finals contender during that period - maybe even a contender for the flag.

He'd also be 3 times the distance from home in Sydney as compared to Adelaide.

IMO, he's not in the same position as Bock, who IMO had no choice but to go to the Gold Coast. Given his age and injuries, we've seen the best of Bock, and for him to all but double his salary in a surfing environment which he loves left him no choice but to grab the dollars.

None of these factors apply to Walker who has got a million reasons to stay and only an increased pay cheque to gain, which has to be discounted for the high cost of living there.

Play the season out here, perform well, and he'll get a good salary from Adelaide anyway in an environment he enjoys and in which he is comfortable.

I agree with most of what you said from an objective viewpoint, ie withouth knowing Taylor's own predispositions, which are subjective and beyond our knowldge, however even on this basis I am not sure about the above.

Adelaide is to Broken Hill is what Syndey is to Adelaide. If he had to go there to further his career I think he would (objectively speaking). It would be a change but hardly one without benefits - ...golden mile etc.

I love looking at these stats (i do the check every so often myself ) - he's always noticeably in front on goals. And that's not being a key focus of the forward entries yet!

Need to keep and back him in - knows how to create goals and win matches.

No, not on a person to person basis Jars, but I do know people who are, which is what I'm basing my comments on.

Tippett was marginal, but my prediction was for him to stay.

Bock was easy as IMO he was a certainty to go, which obviouslly was my prediction. (I did have a bit of inside info on that one though!! )

What everyone is missing is that Eddie was right for once, and the greater western area of Sydney contains without doubt some of the most depressing and ugly places known to man. Places you simply do not travel to in daylight hours if it's up to you.

Adelaide is a veritable paradise compared to Penrith, Bankstown and Castle Hill. Imagine if Smithfield was awarded the license instead and you're about halfway there.

Ben McKinley comes to mind, kicked about 40 goals in his second season but trailed off a bit after that. Might turn that around with a move to North Melbourne though.

Im not so sure. Appreciate the point that they don't have to live there, but in reality they are going to have to live somewhere close by.

I recently travelled from Balmain to Penrith in the middle of a week day and it took an 1 1/4 hrs. The viability of them living in a 'nice' suburb and travelling for practice each day is just not there imo. So they basically need to live in one of the less-shithouse outer-western suburbs which, even then, is hardly a drawcard.

GoldCoast definately had the upperhand in that regard I think.

Millions of people all over the world spend over an hour commuting everyday. I think that South Australians don't really understand this.

When I was in Adelaide over Christmas, staying in the Port(!), I suggested we go to Semaphore for brekky. No, no I was told, there's no parking! I convinced my friends to go, and lo and behold there was plenty of parking, just not right outside the cafe. Funnily enough I thought I was vindicated by our experience, and so did they.

It's a matter of perspective I suppose.

Personally, I'd hate to live in Goldies.

Another anecdote regarding different perspectives, a friend recently returned from a trip to Adelaide and said the whole city reminded him of outer Western Sydney. "World's biggest Campbelltown" was the direct quote. When I tried to defend my home town he asked seriously "are there actually any decent suburbs?" The furthest north he'd gone was Prospect!

Also, once again, there are plenty of "nice" suburbs in the West, and many more in actual number than there are in all of Adelaide.
