When Tippett re-signed it was after a bumper year from him personally and an excellent second half of the year from our team where we were within a whisker of a preliminary final. Who'd want to leave that environment?

For Walker much will depend on the environment he finds himself in this season. Kicking goals, winning matches, playing AFL... I'm sure he'll stay. Average form, losing games, time in the SANFL... of course he'll leave.

You are assuming that a decision has not already been made.

Lets not forget that the media scuttlebutt surrounding the players suspected of signing with the GC at this time last year turned out to be 100% correct.

As has been pointed out 100s of times, when you name every player that is uncontracted, ofcourse you are going to get them right.

The more I think about it, the more convinced I am he has absolutely no intention of leaving. I think the only way he'd go is if he was so disenchanted with the club that he was keen on a change- anywhere- I dont think there is much greater risk of losing him to gws as an essendon or brissy. i.e not much.... and all this crap of leaving over "harsh treatment" just because he's not an automatic selection, just nonsense.

The accuracy only emerged in August/September because there were only a handful of names remaining. And even then there were a handful of names that didn't make the move.

What is the bet that if Walker does end up going the headline in the Advertiser will be something akin to "Walker walks".

To be honest if 2011 doesnt turn out to be a "breakout" year for Taylor, I couldnt give a stuff if he does go.

He wont be the first uber talented footballer to come to nothing.

If GWS has offered a massive contract to Taylor Walker given his fairly ordinary career so far there should be an investigation into how they are using AFL money. Taylor is holding back on signing with us to see if he has a breakout year and can up the ante.
I think he is set to be a long-term Crow.

I would like to hear Taylor Walker come out and make a statement on his future.

Alipate Carlile from the Power has been linked to a GSW move and he come out and denied any speculation. "I haven’t even heard anything [from GWS], so I'm not sure about that [speculation] and I'm happy at Port,"

If he hasn't signed, or intends on leaving, he won't need to lie - ala Nathan Bock in his finals days as a crows. Therefore, the longer he goes without making a statement on his future, the louder the voices will get that he's gone.

The longer he says quite on the subject, the more likely it will be that he's gone.

Exactly.

Stabby - when/if he leaves are you going to keep donig the goal videos?

I'd really appreciate it. I think the GWS board would too.....

Your goal assists tally will look odd for awhile - but over a few years the Crows players should drop off ;)

The smarter option would be "Taylor is a Walker", but considering the wit of the Tiser journos i reckon you're on the money.

I would probably lose some interest :o If it were to happen, I might try to see if I could find an interested GWS supporter to palm all my sound files and template off on to.

Tippett made a good point last night. His and Tex's circumstances are different. Kurt re-signed with a year to go. Tex has put off talks until his contract has finished. He didn't say it to indicate Tex was going to leave. But plenty here use the line Kurt was also reported as going but didnt, two different situations.

5aa saying Tippett has been given the role of 'putting his arm around' Tex ...(could have chosen a better phrase)...making the bond, mateship..whatever...the sealer in keeping Walker at AFC.

They are already pretty chirpy (Tip n' Tex) about their "tribe' project and their on field enthusiastic acknowledgement of each other today indicates for early days it might just be working.

Go Tip you good thing. Make him stay!

This is an excellent point and deserved to be quoted. He has talent, that is obvious. Has he really shown he is going to be a quality week in week out footballer though? Not even remotely.

nonsense. his career numbers, for age, more than justify the faith if GWS feel that way.

if the league is happy to sign of on campaigner & Israel Folau, they'll have no problem with one of the better key forward prospects in the league.

quoted for the lultz:) however remote they are;)

What a stupid claim. He's shown more than most his age. Far more. More than some of the players already on big bucks to play for GC/GWS.

Every year players are drafted with no real 'knowing' if they are going to be quality week in, week out footballers.

Uuuhhhh, he's 20. Only the amazingly awesome produce week-in-week-out quality before their early-mid 20's.

Personally, I still expect (not hope for, but expect) dizzying highs and black lows from Tex this year. Hopefully more highs than lows, and he should be more consistent than last year, but you need to keep in mind that he's not even 21 yet.

If Tex kicks 60-70 goals this year, I'll be ecstatic.

But Bock made a statement to the press and public and lied bald faced to us. Until it's a done deal, I'd rather the player not say one way or the other. Bock went down in my (and many others) estimation purely because of that. People would have been sad but understood his move if he'd been honest about it and said he needed to protect his future... but no, he went on about how much he wanted to be a one club man... yadda yadda.

Really, he lost me when he took to his missus handbag. Am I correct when I recall he actually made his decision to leave just after that. Knowing throughout the 2010 season he would be leaving. This despite the club helping him with his legal issues.

Bock is not a dog for leaving, but the way he did it. I can understand leavinb because you know your body is nearly finished and at the end of your career you want to cash in. To be honest Bock leaving helps us out, we dont want a Chad Cornes. But be honest.

I honestly think we'll keep him. However, I also think it is essential that we have on-field success this season. Not just for keeping Walker, but also for Tippett later on. Remember that once Kurt's contract is up, the GC will have finished their second year and be hitting serious form. Ablett will be in his peak window, the kids will be around 20 years old and ready to take the next step...to be honest, I'm more worried about losing Tippett.
