Here I am.

Yes, it is great to hear stories like this.

A player who had already made up his mind that he was leaving would become insular and withdrawn. Not be the 'life of the party' in the changeroom.

It was also interesting to read in Macca's biography that he was jealous of the relationship the younger players have with Craig, how often they speak, exchange messages, get together for coffees etc. It certainly differs from the version of events set out in certain transcripts.

Been saying it forever. If you speak to the young players, they ****ing love Neil Craig. Absolutely love him. The issue with NC has been those line ball selection decisions where we've had opportunities to back talent over the mature workhorse, and/or the past it old sage. Burton over Walker in the 2009 semi final was a shocker.

Was Burton over Douglas for mine, and Dougy was pretty darn good in the preceeding weeks too.

Burton over anybody was a bad call for the 2009 Semi-final. I would have certainly preferred Douglas.

That has to put to rest the whole Craig/Walker rift. If they didn't like each other there is no way Tex would attempt something like that. Funny how all the negative Nellys are not to be found in this thread tonight.

And yet this saga has been going on for 3 or 4 weeks now and Taylor Walker is yet to even say he wants to stay in Adelaide. If his relationship with NC was as strong as you are implying, wouldn't he come out and say, he wants to stay but will negotiate a contract latter in the year.

He doesn't have to sign a contract at the moment as he is allowed to hold off and increase his value but he if everything you say is true, why wouldn't he make a statement saying he wants to stay.

IIRC Jimmy Barter, Cameron Ling, Steven Johnson and even the media shy Mathew Scarlett said they though Gary Ablett would stay.

All sounds good, but just out of interest, what the hell else would you expect Tippett to say?

Nothing, the questions and conversation topics between the 2 AA boys and Kurt Tippett would be prearranged and if he knew Taylor was leaving, he would say nothing at all on the topic.

The safe thing (the hope of him staying) I'm going with is, the AA boys would have a strong feeling from their sources if he was going or not and would avoid asking any leading questions of that topic. They did, he answered and gave a positive result. Fantastic.

Now I would like Taylor to come out and say, he wants to stay ala Alipati Carlie at Port and a few others who are under the same pump.

Things along the lines of 'Tex will sort that out when the time comes', 'not sure what he'll do, but he'll make a decision for him' etc wouldn't have been as nice to hear. But yeah, he won't advertise the fact he's leaving if he was.

Players have to played for a team 10 years or a set amount of games for their team to qualify for the veterans list. So unless AFL has changed the veterans rule for Gold Cost and Greater Western Sydney it will be quite some time before they have players eligible for the veterans list.
The eligibility rule does change in 2012, dropping the 30yo age limit. There has never been a "set amount of games" eligibility criteria. Players will only have to have done 10 years service to qualify. It's the quid-pro-quo for the introduction of Free Agency. After 10 years the players become free agents, but the clubs can make them veterans and only have to include 50% of their salary under the cap - thereby allowing them to make better offers.

This rule change has been announced, but does not yet appear in the version of the AFL player rules (as of September 2010). The September 2010 version doesn't mention any exemptions for GC or GWS. I doubt that any of the players they stole from the legacy clubs will ever be eligible for veteran listing, as none of them will be around in 10 years time. That's definitely true for GC - if GWS are able to grab the likes of Scully & Palmer (as is the current speculation) then these kids may well achieve veteran status with GWS.

Heard the shrine story, was pure gold.

Here I am.

I was shouted down in another thread yesterday or the day before when I suggested Sloane (along with Dangerfield and Otten, whom Craig heaped praise on at the weekend) were Neil Craig prototypes and he loves them for it. And that Taylor wasnt a Craig prototype, and will never be.

Thank you Kurtly, for proving my point.

How has Kurt proved your point? If anything, he's exposed it for being the rubbish product of a fevered imagination.

Yes, Otten, Dangermouse & Sloane love Craig - and it's mutual. Walker is just the same, no difference at all.

I said Sloane was a Craig prototype, and Walker wasn't.

Walker (albeit in jest) creates a Shrine to Rory Sloane on Neil Craig's locker, after being amused at how much Rory was coach Craig's pet. How does this not prove my point?

Give it up.. There's no suggestion that Walker is any less favoured by Craig and there never has been. It's never been anything more than the fevered imagination of tinfoil hat conspiracy theorists such as yourself and Carl (and he's mostly doing it to troll the board and give us a bit of entertainment during the off-season).

Strawman. I have said nothing in these posts about their social relationship. Who says they dont get on well and have a laugh? They clearly do. Who cares. Im only interested in their football relationship. Have you ever been involved in a football club? Even when the coach gets along with all his players, he still has favourites, the guys that stick to his philosophies and are coachable. Rory is one of these.

To repeat, I SAID Sloane was a Craig prototype, and Walker ISN'T. You still haven't debunked this, and you won't, because it's a fact.

Lets not forget the context here.. Sloane had just put in his best ever performance in Crows colours, a 30+ disposal BOG performance. Gee, I wonder why Craig was singing his praises?

It doesn't have anything to do with favouritism and it never has. Craig did a media conference after the game and quite rightly praised one of the youngsters who was an absolute star in that particular game. Somehow you manage to twist this around as evidence supporting your bizarre theory that Walker isn't a Craig prototype player, or that there's something wrong with the relationship between Walker & Craig.

I must say i find you mocking people for 'tinfoil hat conspiracy theories' a bit rich, considering the weight of conclusions being drawn from a throw away anecdote put out there by Tippett.

I must say i find you mocking people for 'tinfoil hat conspiracy theories' a bit rich, considering you and a bunch of other posters are currently planning a civil ceremony between Walker and Craig on the basis of an anecdote spread by a man who has acknowledged his role in trying to pressure Walker into staying. ;)
At least we've got some evidence to support our theories, even if it is from an exceedingly biased source. Those on the other side of the fence have nothing but their fevered imaginations to draw upon for actual evidence.

Walker may have refused to look at any offers because he thinks he is set for a breakout year and to really increase his value so why would he bother looking at something now? If he kicks 30 goals by round 10 I am sure he will be asking to look at something.

Again I will put it to you...How do you know "it's a fact" ?? At a guess I would think you have come to this conclusion after reading Rucci's reports in the Advertiser. 98% of us will never truly know what goes on between the coach and each individual player.

Why is this a personal issue between Craig and Walker and not simply a footballing decision, {I am assuming you're basing this whole discussion on Walker being dropped to the SANFL} this does not mean Walker is not as "coachable" as Sloane, it means he had areas to work on and the best place for that was at Norwood. No-one knows how Walker truly feels about this we have all simply followed Rucci's lead and added angst to it. This Walker/ Craig "clash" has snowballed to the point that many believe it will be Walker's reason for going - but does it even exist??

Did you miss the part where Craigy said he went to bed and fapped over tex (or words to that effect :o ) Hes never said that about his 'pets'.

Conclusion: Craigy secretly hates danger and sloaney but tex will be the next captain.

Did you not hear Tippett on the radio last night? It is clearly a running joke at the football club.

Well no I missed the part where he said;

"Craigy loves Sloaney cos he is so coachable, really he is a prototype of Craigy, man it's a lovefest"

and then

"We all know there's some issues between Tex and Neil, lucky Rooch told everyone"

I love this board. ;)
