Just heard on the news that a Crows player has had to have surgery after being king hit, anyone know much about this?

Im assuming it is a beat up, because if it was something serious it would be all over the news, not just a little preview at the start.

Oh well, it worked, I am intrigued.

Pfeiffer out for four weeks

for Adelaide Football Club

News
Crow Darren Pfeiffer today had surgery to repair a small fracture in his cheekbone.

The injury will keep him out of football for four weeks.

Pfeiffer received the injury in an off-field incident on Saturday night. Our investigations have revealed that he had been at a hotel celebrating a friend’s birthday and on leaving was hit from behind without any provocation from Darren.

Darren’s recollection of the incident has been confirmed by other witnesses.

Just on this – I wonder if the Media will report this incident as a “power fan king hitting him” and beat (pardon the pun) the story up or just report it as a crows player getting hit by a member of society.

In all likeliness he wouldnt have played in the first month anyway.

What a ****er that did this to him though.

True, although he does miss out on valuable match practice / conditioning.

At least he will be able to continue keeping fit and spend time in the weights room while he is out of action.

As fryingpan said, he probably made a stupid comment and was hit. I dont buy this "unprovoked" nonsense. I know this guy better than anybody on this board (more than likely) and I know he does that kind of thing. I want to defend him but I just dunno anymore. Hope he recovers quickly though and pulls his head in otherwise his AFL career is over before it had the chance to start

Yeah I've seen him out and about he seems like a bit of a tool. My cousin also used to play footy with him and classifies him as a bit of a trouble maker

It is disappointing to read people basically saying that Pfeiffer deserved to be king hit. I don't know whether the incident was verbally provoked or not but resorting to king hitting is cowardly.

Physical violence never solves a problem and the old adage " sticks and stones will break my bones but names will never hurt me " is quite true.

Physical assault should be prosecuted by the police every time as there is always the chance of serious injury or death, just look what happened to David Hookes.

So please can we not have apologists for violence on this board ?

I dont see anybody saying he deserved to be hit? All I see is some people saying he has a rep as being a smartarse and it is quite possible he said something to provoke the person.

Its pretty uncommon for some random person to come out of nowhere and clock someone for no reason. Theres usually some reason.

Look im not saying violence is the right way but what I am saying is that I dont believe it was unprovoked. Darren is a great friend of mine and like any other friend the last thing I wish to see is him get knocked out. The way he acts on various occasions it is hardly surprising that this has happened. Im all for the "sticks and stones" theory but sometimes people push it too far. We dont know what led to the incident and I really dont have any intentions to find out but you can be sure is was unprovoked
