The media isn’t the problem.

You can’t blame the media for that embarrassment of a press conference or for the camp or for the injuries.
All the media have said is we should have come out at the start of the press conference and explained that we had parted ways with CM, the reasons why, provided some details and then we could have moved on. All that makes sense. How did the club not have a better strategy to handle the press conference given they called for it?

I think point 4 is really salient in all of this.

Regardless of where you stand on this issue, the fact that the club held a press conference to ‘clear the air’ and managed to come out looking even worse than before suggests we don’t exactly have the most fantastic decision makers in place.
Exactly. Who the hell decided this was a good idea.

So you honestly believe if we tell the whole story, they will stop? Not on your bloody life.
You can tell a story without telling the whole story. If the information is genuinely that damaging then you need to have an action plan in place to mitigate the damage like say FIRING SOMEONE AND HOLDING THEM ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR ACTIONS.

That won’t stop them - we blew our chance by failing in the GF. The power stance was the first peg. It has been downhill since then and at the first opportunity they sink the boots in. It’s a strategy to weaken the AFC.

We are one of a only two sides to have beaten both Richmond and Sydney this year (Port is the other). But who would know.

The club had all bloody week to prepare for it

It sent an announcement out on Monday saying everyone was on holiday and nobody available for comment until Friday

On Friday it said that a press conference was happening Saturday

They had from Monday to Saturday to formulate how Saturday would go

And it looked as though they had only been told of the press conference 2 minutes prior

It was shambolic

No wonder our club is down the toilet when it is so disorganised

But hey, baseball

We blew our chance when we picked a fight with the media, calling them liars and telling our members that the club was the only source of truth, and then outright lying to the members

We blew our chance when the story broke we sent out Tex and Sloane to trot out the club line

We blew our chance when nobody has been held accountable for this mess. Even CM contract was "mutually" terminated. Who is to say they didn't sack us?

We all knew it would be a waste of time.

I’m impressed that they managed to actually make it a negative - just goes to show that, if we put our minds to it, we can stuff up just about anything.

It is laughable that such a pathetic and poorly organized and managed press conference was held by what is supposed to be a professional club.

I’ve not said that, so perhaps you need to settle down.

Our coach said “players”, I’ll take that as meaning “players”.
Yeah we all know that early on sauce and Eddie had issues for different reasons but they've both moved on.

It's cool man. In the face of great disappointment people will often look for simplistic explanations.

Fagan has been extremely quiet

Something is going on

Seriously, some people on this board are deluded.
If they’d come clean and taken their whack at the start of the season, and actually held some people accountable for this shit show, it would be well and truly done and dusted by now.

Interesting observation.

The complete invisibility of Fagan and Chapman is an indictment on their supposed leadership of the club - they are conspicuously absent...

It’s hard to believe anyone in that position would be so arrogant or gutless as not to front up...

Maybe there is something going on in the background?

Agree. Definitely something going in with Fagan.
His 2 year old life coach has him on a mechanism clearing program.

Works wonders - it’s called ‘claim all wins, ignore all losses’.

Can’t be held responsible if you outright refuse to acknowledge there’s a problem.

Don’t need to tell the whole story but you do have to be authentic in your responses. Burton’s defensiveness was just plain stupid and extremely frustrating. Pyke got it but it’s not his train wreck. Burton’s answers were an insult to the intelligence of the average fan . Made my blood boil .
