Another missed opportunity by the nice guys of the competition.

PowerKop said:Ebert is a Port by through and through. It was pretty clear to see in his Speech at the Port best and fairest. He will be a Port buy through his whole career no doubt. Plus i dont rekon Rus would let him leave.
I would be surprised if we traded Dew.
Dew for Shattock as a straight swap wont happen. Come on honestly.
Lets be fair here. Getting White was always a very long shot at best. Even if he wanted to leave Port he would want to go to WA and West Coast were very keen on him.SpringChoke said:Another missed opportunity by the nice guys of the competition.
Dew is in contract negotiations with Port and is not going anywhere.SpringChoke said:A Port mate of mine reckons that a "reliable" source has confirmed a Shattock for Dew trade will happen tomorrow.

West AdelaideOnly reference I have heard of re Shattock is the rumored Port/Brisbane deal - no hint of Crows interest.Kane McGoodwin said:Whilst White would have been a handy acquisition, time to move on & trade some of our HBF's s & hopefully land a Shattock type. More changes required AFC...
I would do Shattock for MassieKane McGoodwin said:Whilst White would have been a handy acquisition, time to move on & trade some of our HBF's s & hopefully land a Shattock type. More changes required AFC...

It will depend on what happens with trades.SpringChoke said:Yeah I know, our chances of getting him would have been slim even if he did want to go home. It was more wishful thinking on my part. I was foolishly hoping that we may have been able to offload some of the crap on our list. But it looks like we will be stuck with certain players for another year. By the way, who do you think will get delisted Stiff??
So would I Stiffy, as we have way too many HBF types!Stiffy_18 said:I would do Shattock for Massie![]()

Don't write him after a bad second half of the season - IMO he still has something to offer us.
. Care to elaborate....We have WAY TOO MANY half back flanker as it is and while I rate Massie he is very limited in the positions he can play. Shattock will bring hardness to the side so you are not losing anything there while gaining more flexibility with Shattock's ability to play in a number of different position.Wayne's-World said:no no Keep Massie, need some hardness in the side.

West AdelaideCan't remember exactly the reason for the smilie, but This kid intrigues me.SpringChoke said:To completely change the subject for a sec. In a thread yesterday you made a point on Benet Copping with a. Care to elaborate....
West AdelaideStiffy its just after the 2003 season no-one was suggesting getting rid of the guy.Stiffy_18 said:We have WAY TOO MANY half back flanker as it is and while I rate Massie he is very limited in the positions he can play. Rated pick low 20's on the draft page.
Supposedly father/son.
Have asked repeatedly on this board what the go with him is - supposedly everyone has "contacts" and yets deafening silence, not a word, all the sources dried up, no-one cares.
That's probably the reason - I think I said "one of lifes great secrets"
I think you are being very harsh there.mymansyd said:From what I've seen of him, Shattock's not worth any of our first 4 draft picks (8,24,28 or 40). If we got him for pick 56, I can live with that. But c'mon AFC, use those 1st 4 picks for teenagers. We are rebuilding aren't we. Shattock is 25 next year, hardly a junior.
I could handle pick 40, but forget the rest ... though doubt the Lions would accept. Happy to swap for one of our excess HBF's though.Stiffy_18 said:I think you are being very harsh there.
We can't just get everyone that is under certain age. I think Shattock would add something to the side that we currently don't have. I agree that I wouldn't trade 2nd rounder for him but if we could get him for pick 40 I would be happy with that. I would be even happier if we could get him for Massie.
Really Shattock is a better player than Shirley and I would rather have Shattock tagging someone like Buckley.
I don't think Brisbane will let him go for anything other than 2nd rounder as they look to get more youth into their squad. However, if there is a chance to get him for a reasonable price (ie not trading pick 28 or pick 24) then by all means get him.
