I think he signed a 2 year deal with the doggies at the end of last year so he is out of th equestion for the time being.

Bugger!

How bout Cooney ;) . Danyle Pearce and Elijah Ware could of both done this job, but look where they ended up  . If you ask me we should just leave Burton in a FP! Which means he'll probably spend the year on a wing. If Mcleod doesn't start the season strongly you wouldn't mind leaving him in a pocket especially if Reilly or another young player can step up to the midfield.

DT, I am so confident about the quality of this kid that I'm prepared to bet both Stiffy's left testicle AND his donger that we'll all have him closer to being a Johnson type get by the year end. ;) :D

:D

That's fair. That still leaves him with the right, to wager on Brian Harris' chances of becoming the next Mick Martyn and not Ben Kinnear.

Fantastic. We get to see all the same old faces again. Great to see that nothing has changed at AFC.

I agree. What happened to we need to get new blood into the team?

I am VERY disapointed there is no VB or Meesen. I wanted both plus Biglands up forward & no Clarke.

He might have to change his username.

Mr NC wants to justify his appointment.

Sad, but true

and on that, doughty must be one of the luckest players in the AFL. I bet he some how manages to play out his career at the AFC.

Like most I felt we could have had at least 1 new face in the side. I will err on the side of caution and re-iterate the theme of ''lets find out what they do under NC'' before we turf them. We may all be pleasantly surprised.

Call me confused but hopeful.

You had to pick Ben Hart if he was fit. He has shown last year that he can come in underdone and still be a bloody good player.

Personally, I wouldn't have picked Doughty and probably would have gone with NVB but Doughty is NC's love child and definetly the biggest selection surprise for me.
Doughty not a surprise IMO his PS training has been excellent and he had an excellent game against Port.
Probably been the best ball handler in the group thus far.

Disappointing on Belo but he'll get his chance, hopefully at the expense of Shirley or Bode.
Given the contributions PS those two have put in it's a little suprising they have been given the nod, but obviously Craig wants to get the season off to a good start and has opted for experience.

With Bock and Biglands out IMO we lack a bit of flexibility in the height dept - WC have a tallish side ?? - bit puzzeling really.

Have you watched any games this PS or any training - NO I thought not

With Hart and Doughty in the 18, we already have 2 seriously under done players. To bring in another 2 in Clarke and Biglands would be a HUGE gamble. Don't forget that Burton has a cloud over his fitness as well. Thats 5 question marks out of 22 players.

Give Hudson most of the game time and have Biglands play last 5 minutes of each quarter in the ruck and spend a bit of time in the forward line.

Having said that I think NC will go with Clarke.

WC's ruck stocks are also under done. Cox is coming back from a fractured cheekbone and Woosha has said he won't play Gardiner in the ruck. Seaby is out with a hammy so taking in 3 ruckman is pointless IMHO, especially considering that 2 of them are seriously under done ;)
Well if Seaby is out with a hammy - I'm a little more comfortable with 2 ruckmen. As a general rule - I want to play the 3 this year....over the years I'm sick of being out-talled by the opposition.....

Apart from the problem of not being on our list, do we really want a 50-odd ex-SANFL player jogging around on the park? I know he's the head coach and all, but selecting himself just stinks of an unusual form of nepotism.

And how will he coach and play at the same time? The days of captain-coache are long gone since the game went professional...

We could be in trouble both on and off the field with this decision.
Evidence that Good Friday really is a slow news day !!.... :p

That would have been the case if Seaby had played, but once he was out with an injured hammy, the scales were balanced in the talls even without 1 of the 3 ruckman and Bock.

IMO Craig has the balance pretty right.

I think you are being harsh on these 2. They have't set the world on fire but they have been solid contributors. I go back to the Swans game and both Shirley and Bode were our only in and under players.

Bode is there for midfield depth and despite your dislike of him, Shirley is our #1 tagger and will be so for the entire season. Contrary to the populat beleif, Shirley is a good tagger.

Van Berlo has shown glimpses this season but if we are brutally honest he hasn't really demanded to be picked.

Well ,thats broken the intelligence meter. Now do us all a favour and rack off.

I would have preferred Van Berlo to Shirley just to provide us with an opportunity. Still, it is the first game and given the opponent perhaps doesn't want to throw him to the wolves. But then again, we are playing at home. We might see him next week against the "Woods" at Telstra. - now that would be an eye opening experience for a new kid however would need to take some tetanus/rabies shots before he boards the plane.

dont be suprised to see VB make his debut. apparantley his parents are being flown over today.

dont quote me but thats what i have heard.

yes saw the port game on fox, and can say that while VB didnt do much, neither did a lot of others.

Just cause you've been to one training session, and i'd assume you wouldnt have seen any other practice matches, doesnt make you an expert.

Nothing can really hide the fact that we are getting the same faces as last yr, so NC is obviously wanting to have a good start. Hope it changes as the yr goes on, and we see more youth as that is the future.

Maybe they are flying over to spend the easter with him and see hi make a debut for South Adelaide :p

Or maybe Burton is out with a hamstring injury and Van Berlo comes in to replace him
