Adelaide is optimistic about Ben Hart’s chances of playing against West Coast in Saturday’s second elimination final at AAMI Stadium.
The much-decorated 268-game defender has missed the past three matches with a quad strain.
Adelaide communications manager Phil Harper said on Monday the club’s medical staff was ‘very confident’ Hart would resume against the Eagles.
“If they were forced to put a number on it, our medical people are saying Ben’s better than 80 per cent,” Harper said.
The Crows reported no injuries after the 16-point loss to Port Adelaide in Sunday’s physically demanding Showdown XIV.
Apart from Hart, an automatic reinclusion if fit, at least four players – Mark Stevens, James Begley, Nathan Bassett and Michael Doughty – are likely to be seriously considered by the match committee this week.
Stevens was named best player (as a defender) for SANFL club Woodville-West Torrens last Saturday, as was Begley for Sturt.
Bassett was not so prominent for Norwood but kicked the winning goal after the siren against South Adelaide, for which Doughty had an eye-catching 27 disposals.

A great response from Mark after missing out on selection for Showdown XIV.

Ben’s workrate in tight contested areas is very good, often forcing the ball out to a teammate with quick hands. He also ran hard to create space when the opportunity arose. A great effort finishing with 15 possessions.
* Strange that they did not name a Crows SANFL player of the week. Keeping us on our toes I guess. from reading this I'd say Stevo is a strong chance for this week. I was surprised at Rutten's glowing review - he didnt get a mention in the Sunday Mail. I also thought this was Schell's best effort in ages, he was good. Loved it when Fuller told Hentschel that Trent was a better player than Schell! 8 goals to nil...he he he
3. Channel 10 stated that the Crows board is totally supportive of Gary and the coaching staff. I dont know what anyone else thinks, I reckon its just popplestone up to no good.
4. Geoff Roach's - 2 articles in two weeks. The Advertiser must be hearing from lots of frustrated Crows fans for Roachy to be having a go at us. AFC will ignore him, but it is a good indication that the fans are unhappy.
