Autopsy Crows thrash swan (don’t worry tho, this game won’t define us)

There's a whole lotta stuff the club has to work through off the field, but as far as on the field goes, it's quite simple.

Tackling pressure is just about the most important thing in footy and we're just about the worst in the competition at it.
It’s also mostly not related to talent. It’s about training and intent.

I’m not sure the training has focused enough on technique. So many carrousel arms…

Of all the unacceptable actions and behaviours from last night - and sadly there were plenty - in my opinion this is the low point.

Fair play to Milera for his honesty about our club at the moment.

I hope we use this feedback as our ‘line in the sand’ moment, particularly when it was delivered after a game that some of the toughest and most uncompromising Swans in our modern history were present at.

Much of the carousel arms comes about because we have a lot of players who aren’t agile. Tackling in rugby or rugby league is easy when the guy doesn’t have many places to run to. Tackling around the contest is not that hard when the ball is not moving or the player isn’t moving. Tackling in space is hard unless you are quicker or more agile than your opponent.

Our problems are so broad but part of it is that we are winning crap ball around the contest and we are stationary and everyone we plays has better abilities to get the ball into space.

I simply don’t think we are able to handball to players other than Warner to make people miss

There are so many problems which have been hidden by some out and out stars

Injuries or not , non negotiable contested football should be played. Avoiding contact , like bice and Lloyd did was a sign for me. I think cox is a mate.

Blakey looks to be fully just over it and doesn’t want to play here
I suspect behind closed doors there is a lot of you do your job and I’ll do mine discussions

Can someone on X tag the AFL to get their attention? Did anyone else see Izak Rankine's head bump on Taylor Adams (about 20 mins Q1)? He lined him up from a fair way off and got him a good one that put Talyor on the ground. No umpire noticed it and the goal was paid. No comment, no referral to the MRO. That wouldn't happen to a Swans player. Taylor took a while to get up and Rankine was looking at him and around at the Umps, he knew he'd just done something for which other players get three weeks in the tracksuit.

I don’t mean rolling around for sh*ts and giggles and being stupid enough to dislocate your shoulder in the process.

I mean hitting each other.

And I don’t mean getting into a fight for no reason, I mean being willing to get into a fight if that is what is needed to cut through. This is a team that does not trust each other or themselves. They are lost - they need to be willing to find each other.
Seriously, what kind of nonsense is this? I mean, wow! Players should find form and togetherness by getting drunk and punching each other. Is this actually your real opinion?

Lloyd and Adams have to be told this week , if cox can’t do that then he isn’t the man.

He is a mate and that what I’m worried about
100% agree. Both poor and we look so damn slow across the ground. Lloyd has been poor all year and adds very little at the moment. he either kicks it 15m to a swans or turns it over.
Adams is only just back, so in his defence you can argue he is building, however I dont see any point playing him. He is a rubbish small forward and clearly no place for him in mids with Sheldrick and Mill back next week.
However i have xero confidene that either call will be made.
I would say Out - Lloyd, Adams, Bice In - Mills, Cunningham Hannily or Dattoli

Our reserves had 11 goals (to nil) kicked on them in the 4th quarter today. It was pathetic. Lost by 94 points to the team coming 10th in the VFL.

Anyone thinking the answer lies there is kidding themselves.

Mills will come back. Cunningham is sorely needed & might be rushed back too.

But that’s about it.

There’s no youngsters even looking likely. The cupboard is bare.
The youngsters that played last night are a serious worry. Corey Warner, Sheldrick, Mitchell, Bice, even Cleary... None of them are anywhere near good enough and don't even show real potential. People seem optimistic about Cleary, but I don't see it. He's never done anything and is yet to have a breakout game. At his best, he's a non-factor.

It's a big problem. We have no one to bring in. It's actually silly to be dropping guys like Florent in these circumstances.

Some key structural and personnel issues
-Defence!! . how are we supposed to generate run with melican, MCartin, Hamling and Rampe. To add insult, Blakey is clearly being asked to play more defensive which is a massive waste of our bounce from defence. Solution - bring Cunnners or Wicks (if fit) and allow Blakey to play on small or mid and encourage to take the game on.
-Kicking - we are no longer lowering our eyes. we are simply bombing to contests. too often we are getting our hands on the pill first and then bomb to a contest or outnuumber. We need to link with hands, look at the way Collngwood moves the ball.
-Forward entries and forward line - i premise all this by saying, we have smashed with injuries, but given our lack of quality KPF's we simply shouldnt kick the ball long to big packs unless under pressure. Kick it to grass or lower the eyes. Take Taylor Adams - he is slower than Ladhams. With Ladhams, Mclean, Taylor A in the forwardsd the ball come out too easily.
-dealinng with pressure - we need to practiice being under pressure, we cant dealt with the heat.
None of the above is insurmountable - some of it will be addressed with key personnel coming back but we need to establish an identity really quickly. No doubt, Cox has been dealt a terrible hand with injuries and suspensions, but we need to have a better game plan and reestablish conviction!

Wowee this hasnt been picked up!? Horrific. Seems like we have got the raw end of the stick. Lloyd Meek got off too.

The Swans have been bombing it forward for years now, nothing new there and no sign of it changing.

Adams at least laid 9
tackles and was one our leading pressure players not sure why he is the big issue . But yeah rather blood our own

lloyd agree have a farewell next home game .

Rampe can finish this year ,

Blakey is the worry should be a star for us

He has to take blame also

He is the coach and instructing the group week to week

Yeah but he got no say in the list or coaches for 2025 by the looks and inherited a mess.

He should have gone to west coast

James Jordon was awful last night. I think we need to give him a spell tagging and just let him get the pill
Adams was a deer in the headlights in the forward line - he is finished
Cleary tried hard and at least found the pill, but the pressure was overwhelming - needs midfield minutes now
Sid was actually OK, I'd give him another game. Looked OK on the wing.
Warner Jnr needs a spell
Lloyd is done - finish him off Cox
Who was on Fogarty last night? They did a good job.

Time to bring in Hannily, Snell, Buller, Cunningham (2 weeks time).

We really do rely on the individual brilliance of Heeney and Warner to win us games.

And next year Heeney will be on the wrong side of 30 and Warner won’t stick around to get smashed on a weekly basis.

In a close competition you can't afford to **** up so many draft picks and then not recruit anyone good in a decade.

I mean what do people think is going to happen?

This is the crux of it

Kinnear and his recruiting department have fluffed their lines over and over again

It was always going to come back and bite us

Having said that, as bad as this season has been, we can come back strongly next year thanks to our academy selections and hopefully a fit and focussed JUH
