Crows v Bulldogs

Well there has been discussion on a few of the other threads about a tough selection week with guys returning from injury, so time to have a crack at a team line-up.

B: Hart, Rutten, Bassett
HB: McLeod, Bock, Torney
C: Burton, Shirley, Mattner
HF: Hentschel, McGregor, Thompson
F: Edwards, Welsh, Perrie
R: Hudson, Ricciuto, Goodwin
I: Biglands, Doughty, Skipworth, Van Berlo

IN: Welsh, Skipworth
OUT: Reilly, Knights

Stiffy should come back through the Magpies given he is lacking match fitness with his long layoff.

IMO, Reilly needs a full run with Sturt, but I expect he may keep his place at the expense of Van Berlo.

Tough on Knights to drop him after a very limited opportunity, but would be tougher on Skipworth if he didn't come straight back in. Knights will get another chance & should be more hungry now after a small taste of the action.

No Johncock eh Kano?

I reckon the fire in his belly would be tremendous after the recent incidents and if he's ready then throw him straight in, he's got a lot to prove on the football field to help exorcise his demons off it.

Agree with your outs there with Knighter being EXTREMELY unlucky. He knows he's a valuable commodity at the club however and I think he'll be better for the run.

Things are looking good at the moment.

Add Stiffy's lack of fitness to his off field indiscretion, I think he should be told to force his way back via the Magpies. It also gives VB a decent with the Crows.

Will be amazed if your predictions do not come to past ;)

IN: Welsh, Skipworth
OUT: Knights, Van Berlo

Welsh and Skippy are easy ins. That leaves Knights, Van Berlo or Reilly to be dropped. In my opinion, Reilly showed a bit on the weekend - he's still not excelling as we would have hoped, but at this point of the season we need a bit more experience than Van Berlo, who made a few nervous errors against the Hawks. Knights is the obvious demotion - I don't really know what everyones bitching about here, we gave the kid a run in Tassie, got a good experience and will know what to expect next time. Stiffy will play for the Magpies.

I think this is pretty spot on.....(for me I'd drop Reilly and Doughty for Welsh and Skippy and bring Stiff back through the Maggies........but there's the way I'd like it....and then the way it is)......Doughty will be retained ....Knights will be dropped.....and Reilly and VB will fight for the one spot. I just hope Knights has his head screwed on enough to realise that he will get another opportunity

Stiffy needs to get fitness, he looks like fat bastard from the Austin Powers movie 'Get in my belly!'

k
xx

Looking at time on ground, reilly only played 40 odd minutes for 10 touches, whereas VB was on for over an hour for 4 touches. going on that, and i know its a very simplistic way of looking at things, but i retain Reilly. Hopefully he is given a full game soon, otherwise i would send him back to Sturt.
While i respect what Skippy has done this year, and ive been a big fan, i would actually like to see Knights stay in, but i wouldnt be unhappy if skip came back.

Twill be a very interesting selection.

I would rather Knights getting one more go. VB had a downer on the weekend and has got a fair run, so he should make room for Welsh.

Skippy will probably also come in, but who for? IMO Reilly was quite good in the paltry 46 minutes he got on the ground. Knights will probably be dropped but I still think it would be the wrong decision. :o

The likely selections:

INS: Skipworth, Welsh
OUT: Van Berlo, Knights

Hmmm not a big fan of those selections myself.

Stiffy will be underdone, and will need to come back through the Magpies.

VB out (harsh I know) and Knights out. Welsh and Skipworth in.

Rave you make an excellent point in regards to ''fire in the belly'' but if I am reading right..he has a few sheep cooking in that fire :p Magpies for Stiffy

Just a quick question...Who says Welsh is fit enough to come back as well? I heard ''groin strain'' kept him out? Unless thats Crowspeak for indiscretion which costs 1 game? With the finals coming up I would like to see everyone fit and if that means another week out, then so be it.

Or am I looking for a way for Knights to stay in :p

No doubt if we were playing a final, I would pick Reilly ahead of VB. I suppose I'm thinking in the medium-term, Reilly would be better off with a full game under his belt - & since that can't appear to be guaranteed with the Crows, then with Sturt.

Would agree Kane - has spent too much time on the pine and needs a couple of games with Sturt IMO

Scott West will celebrate 300 games this weekend -BUGGER.
You heard right; yet another milestone game against the Crows. Wasnt Grant celebrating something last time?

Doesnt look good.

Dogs by 5 goals....even with Shirley doing a break=even job on West

Yeah, he was, but Grant was celebrating the real deal, 300 AFL games, complete with fireworks, 40 foot high banner and after party in the car park.

Scotty West (champion that he is) is celebrating 300 games including pre-season, SOO, international rules, and whatever else the AFL includes to get him to the life membership. Still a great achievement, but a relatively low fanfare one - in the last few years, Ben Hart, Nigel Smart, Mark Bickley and (I think) Mark Ricciuto have reached the same milestone.

If Shirley breaks even with West, I'll be surprised - but pleased.

A danger game, as all matches are, but one we should expect a win in.

i think it was steven trigg on the weekend, but he said they wanted to get both knights and watts into the team asap. So i think someone else like reilly will go. It will be a disgrace if knights or VB are dropped, cause according to some knights was simply being introduced with 5 minutes last week, so for his development to be advanced we'd expect him to get a bit more time this week. Dropping him would simply have disrupted his development through the sanfl. VB is just getting into the swing of things too and should get the rest of the season imo. Tough to see how they plan getting watts in.

Skippy trained for all of 5 minutes today so he probaly wont play.Welsh so I am told trained well and they are waiting to see how he pulls up.

Without being in the inner sanctum I couldn't make a decision over rielly, van berlow or knights as from the outside their isn't much between them IMO.
