Cool

It’s becoming a good traditional game to start the season. Hopefully they play against the Dogs or Eagles, as they have been the traditional powerhouse sides from the last few years.

A balmy summers night down at the parade, we have pencilled in that Friday night at Norwood oval where you get to see the reserves play against a SANFL club and then the first time you see the best 22 for the season.

Never miss it. It's a pleasant way to spend a Friday night.

Only a month away now. Has anyone heard which SANFL side our B team is playing?

Im looking forward to this.

I assume that our rookies and new draftees will play in the B team?

Not necessarily as NC said on his radio interview (see Stiffy_18 link) if the rookies or first year draftees show enough they could get a game.

But also looking forward to it and also enjoy the ‘B’ game before hand more than the main game.

So our rookies and that will play in the 'B' game?

There are 2 games on the night?

Yes.

There are 2 games. There is the B team that plays first. That mostly made up of youngsters, rookies and fringe players. Then the second game (generally starts at 7:30) is our best side. There are also a couple of players that get pulled out of the first game at half time and play in the second game as well. Meesenplayed on both games last year.

Its a fun night. A real carnival type atmosphere and its all for a good cause.

Spot on Stiffy.

The first game is actually the most enjoyable because it's as competitive as hell and the Crows either win or lose by small amounts. Conversely the 2nd game is rightfully a no contest.

The first game gives us a look at our new draftees and rookies, and if I remember rightfully I gave both Hinge and Griffin a plug for good games in that match (they were 1st year rookies at the time), and they've now gone onto the main list.

It's an excellent evening and definitely worth going to.

You're not the only one mate. Plenty of people were very impressed by what they saw from those 2 in that game. Hinge was exceptional in the midfield and showed tremendous toughness and courage. Griffin showed off his exceptional mobility and agility for a big man.

IIRC Ladhams was also a standout and kicked 4 or 5 goals and Meesen also played well before he got pulled off the ground to save him up for the 2nd game

Ermmm, actually he got taken off Stiffy, not pulled off.

We don't do that down at the Crows!! :p

From the Norwood FC website:

Norwood Takes On The Crows Again!

On 17 February at Cooper’s Stadium the Norwood Football Club takes on the might of the Adelaide Crows.

Norwood’s league team will play the Crows ‘A’s and Norwood’s reserves side will play the remaining Crows squad players and South Australian under 18 players making up the balance of the Crows ‘B’ team.

The admission fee remains unchanged at $5 for all adults, 16 year olds and younger $2.

The first game commences at 5pm and main game from 7pm.

Norwood have committed to a full strength team and will be boosted by AFC listed players not required in their ‘A’ squad. With Kris Massie, Darren Pfieffer, Nathan Bassett, Chad Gibson and John Meeson all Adelaide players Norwood are confident of having at least three players available from the Adelaide list. The Norwood players are desperate to play one of the premier sides in the country on their turf as a united force.

Adelaide will train at Cooper’s Stadium on Tuesday 14 February from 9am.

Gate opening times and further details will be released later this week.

I am praying to God that when the rosters are released I have that Friday off.

If not....gotta try hard to get a shift swap!!!

Will be a good night :)

Bit disappointed that a second SANFL club has not put their hand up to play against the Adelaide Crows B’s. I would have like to see the AFC reserves players play against some quality competition rather than Norwood’s reserves players.

It would be good to see Kris Massie, Darren Pfieffer and Chad Gibson play in the Norwood A’s and how they go. Hopefully big John Meesen could get a go with the Crows.

Crowd is usually around 9000-10000. Its a pretty good night.

Does anyone know what time is the first match scheduled to start?

No. not sure that it's ever been published yet.

Last year the start of the 1st game was 6 pm off memory.

I'll be there - it's an excellent night.

I usually don't miss it but I'm going away for the weekend. Everyone that's going, have a great time. Hopefully the weather is nice for it. It's usually a hot one for the match. :thumbsu:
