I think Perrie is a forward, and very glad to hear he is doing well today.
With Hudson still new in footy terms, I think we should just stick to playing him ruck.

Will be interested to hear 1st hand views of Perrie's game from Stiffy & others.

Thats really great to hear.
Not a brilliant footballer - much maligned - but gives 100%, and has worked his guts out to play AFL football.
He can play either FF or CHF - its more a question IMO of where to best play Carey.
For me it would be as the 3rd floating tall, with Welsh and S. Stevens on the FF line.

Couldn't agree more !!!

Perrie goes into hibernation with Carey ahead of him but if he plays CHF with Carey across the goal line I reckon you'll see a much better effort from him.

To be fair, from what I could tell Perrie did play on two 18 yo first draft defenders - Pettigrew in the first half and Chaplin in the second. Chaplin tended to zone off and gave him too much latitude which juiced up his stats a bit.

Actually Toby was on Perrie for 3 quarters. In the 4th quarter Chaplin had the job on Perrie. True his opponents weren't great but he did present himself well all day long and took 7-8 pack marks. He took a ripper over Brogan. Brogan was in front, Perrie came from behind and took a mark over Brogs. If he played half as well as he did today on regular basis he would be a very good CHF for us.

One thing is for sure, Sarge must be played at CHF. He is a lot better there than Carey as he can take overhead marks and competes all the time.

Toby was on Stevens most if not all of the first half, Pettigrew was on Perrie. Couldn't tell third qtr - too far away for me.

I would swear that #28 was on Perrie for 3 qtrs. I know Chaplin had him in the final quarter.

Anyone work out who was wearing 40 for the Power?

Pettigrew was definitely on Perrie in the 2nd and Thurstans on Stevens. Was hard to see in the 1st but I'm pretty sure it was Pettigrew/Perrie again. Can't remember the 3rd, and the 4th was mainly Chaplin.

So many threads on this game, I dunno what I've posted where

I think the Power learnt a couple of positive things from that match, did the Crows learn anything?

You said on the Port board that Thurstans was solid at CHB, yet we have at the same time Perrie 11 marks, 14 kicks, 3 goals playing for Crows at CHF ... so according to you Perrie only did that well because he was playing against youngsters - hmmmm.

1 + 1 = 11 <=== this doesn't add up either.

I don't think we have. Come round 1 I still think we will fart around the flanks with short chipping style that will get us nowhere let alone top 4.

COaching staff has some major issues. I just read on the club site Ayres thought we brought the ball well into the forward line. Was he at the same game that I was?????? If he called that good delivery, I would hate to see what he thinks is a shocking delivery.:(

If Ayres sticks with this STUPID game plan, he will be signing his death warrant, as we will under-achieve massively.

At times he is such a pig-headed stubborn mule that never wants to admit that he got it wrong, it has me worried that we will persevere all year with this ridiculous game plan.

I think the Crows fans learned that their fears about Ayres coming up with an unbelieveably stupid gameplan (chipping short & going wide), and being stubborn and sticking with it even as the season crumbles, may be well justified.

I don't believe that the Crows themselves learned anything. It might have been better had the Crows lost.

If we play this game plan we are dead in the water. We are a chance for a priority pick. We will never beat top teams with this crap.

Ayres might well get the chop half way throught the year.

I saw Toby do his best work around half back and rebounding thru centre. I'll concede he was on the floating forward (Stevens) and not strictly at CHB but that doesn't change my opinion that Perrie was playing most of the game on 18yos. Does that add up?

The way they rotate players through positions you could have all been correct at one time or another!!! ;)

Do you believe for one moment, this is our Plan A. Of course Ayres is happy with the way we brought the ball into the forward line, because it is a specific gameplan for specific teams we will encounter during the season, or at times during a game. PS, best time under match conditions to rehearse it.
Doesnt mean its our Plan A

That's an interesting thought.

The way we have brought it into the forward line is just too bad to be true - or is it??

Let's accept your theory that this is not meant to be our plan A.

My next two questions are:

What is our plan A??

Which teams would we use this crappy, chipping, over-possessing, around the boundary type game against?

That would be in the mind of the match committe. But who have we really struggled against in the last couple of seasons? - of the head, Collingwood, Power?
But your right the gameplan is too bad to have not been deliberately played as a rehearsal for use through the season.

I bloody well hope its not our plan A but if its a plan B it well and treuly sucks.

The teams that we have struggled to beat or in most occasions just fallen short of beating in the past well kick out butts if we play this style. We lost to Port by 8 or 12 points last year, if we play the sort of game plan we played at Kadina we will get smashed by at least 50 points.
