Was really impressed with Dangerfields in and under work in the 1st half.

Tippett has been good so far.

You have to love these umpires - great job.

22-8 in a two horse race - amazing. You might expect it in a 10 goal thrashing but in a 14 point ballgame - amazing. Will the AFC have the courage to issue a please explain.

Mckay is a player.

Dont tell me you're one of those kn*bs who blames every poor performance on Chris Knights too. Pathetic.:thumbsd:

I'm with you - there were other players on the ground that performed worse than Knights.

Maric needs help.

Could possibly be the worst umpiring I have ever seen in a Crows game.

My suggestion that Griffin be brought in (with Tippett going forward) was poo-pooed earlier this week. I think it HAS to be done. Tippy looks at home up forward and Maric - as lion-hearted as he is, cannot do it by himself.

I'd go so far as to say worst umpiring I've ever seen. :thumbsd:

Im opening myself up to abuse here, but from an outsiders view, thats probably the worst game ive seen Knights play. There were players that were less effective, but he made mistake after mistake, fumbles, fell over, kicks to the opposition. I know opinion on this board is poles apart (either extreme love or extreme hate for him) and I usually sit in the middle, but I cant remember him playing worse than that.

Petrenko on the other hand...once he gets the pace of AFL, he will be an absolute gun. Is an absolute clone of a young Mcleod playing down at Alberton. That bounding sort of run, great evasive skills, great kick. Has all the basics to become a star.

Walker too. Grew incredibly once he got the gametime in the second half. Could have ended with 4 goals really and looked dangerous everytime he went near it. As soon as he gets the respect and confidence of his teammates, he'll star as well.

Nah knights was good, i reckon like for like, Stevens in Otten out.

Or for a more effective change.

OUT: Stephen McBurney (3) Stuart Wenn (22) Shaun Ryan (25)
IN: Anyone with a ****ing brain and non bias.
pre game

Out: Shaun Ryan (25)
In: Someone Bowen (33)

I think McBurney was ok but 2 poor decision infront of me in the 16-17th minuted of the 3rd.

Wenn cant umpire

and Bowen can do shit, he cant even bounce the thing :thumbsd:

Funny how we all see things differently. I thought Knights was one of the few players to run and carry. He was in my top 5 tonight. :p

yep at this rate, Maric will be buggered by round 10. Desperately need another ruckman.

Love VB's cheek tonight - doing alot of pushing around.:thumbsu:

Regardless of the result, there have been some really good signs from the kids.

Really, really impressed with Dangerfields/Petrenko attack at the contest and movement in traffic - Brad Ebert who??

Great post no abuse here no right foot either he is one that will be hoping Dangerfield takes his time.

Agree with you on Petrenko looks ok and Walker will be excellent trouble is you cant rush the weights so in 12 months things are looking up

There were quite a few angry young men out there tonight. Thought it could turn ugly at one point. Did you see the black eye on Knights?

Well the umpires have certainly shown that they don't favour the crows, the have made their point loud and clear after last week.

Can't blame it all on them though, we were average. Messed around with the ball far too much.

And i've also remembered that i hate watching St.Kilda games, them and Sydney ruin matches to watch

Good point. Our skills were average. Looked like we turned back the clock to the ugly days of over handball. Ahhh well, where we are at on the clock, there were still alot to like about some of the performances tonight.:thumbsu:
Some very encouraging signs.

We really missed Stevens.
Really.
I knew we would, but we missed him even more than I could have ever anticipated.
Did I mention how much we missed Stevens.

We need Shirley back. He mightn't be hugely athletic, but he can win a ****ing clearance. We were smashed out of the middle again. Shirely's amongst our best clearance players. We need him back. Really could have used him on Dal Santo too.

Too much handball. It looked great last week against a side who freely gave up the corridor, but against the Saints, who had numbers around and behind the ball, and put constant pressure on the ball carrier, it fell down completely. It was clear very early on that it wasn't working, yet the issue was not addressed. We looked best when we went long and direct to Tippett/Maric, but this happened far too infrequently. It was bizarre. The gameplan has been drilled into our lads so much so that first instinct has become to turn outside and handpass backwards. They weren't even considering other options. Often, we had free men up the ground, yet the players with the ball didn't even notice because first instinct has become to go backwards. I got very sick of lovely little handpass chains that lost us 20 meters ground and resulted in turnovers/ballups.

I can appreciate that we intend to use handpassing to beat the zone, but it clearly wasn't the right tactic tonight and should not have been persisted with.

The umpiring was ****ed. I genuinely could have killed that **** McBurney after he called play on from Walker's mark.

Just got back from AAMI.

St. Kilda - best I have seen them play. Best pressure on us since I've been following the crows. Revolting and koshitski were mammoth. Hell we missed Stevens.

But, did you notice the undeniable class of Danger and Walker. Cant wait for these to develop.

Disappointing last quarter.

Now I'm going outside to present my @r$* to the world to see if anyone else wants to shove something in there. Why should the umpires have all the fun?

The result was certainly predictable... you guys have been saying it all pre-season. A young side that will have some great weeks and some not so great weeks. We still certainly gave it a crack tonight. And no matter what you say, the young blokes did make some errors that absolutely killed us tonight. Petrenko shirked a contest or two (he preffered to tackle than take the ball on occasions tonight), Otten thought he was better than he actually is on occasions by trying to take on opponents and lairising and Walker was too hungry on occasions. As long as they learn from these errors I have no issue at all, but don't put them up on a pedestal after this weeks performance.

Also, I watch Doughty very closely tonight considering he cops the brunt of a lot of your criticism and I would have had him and Maric very highly in my best players this week. He has good disposal and gets the hard ball. There are plenty that should get dropped before he does. That is just my opinion, but yeah I thought he played well tonight.

Only if it's warranted, but the umpires were equally appalling to both sides. I imagine you might go a shade of crimson if you complained about the umpiring tonight, Dawson anyone, or last weeks fiasco. You need to win with 22 players.

Hmmm... Dawson's was the only free we didn't deserve. Saints received 10 frees they didn't deserve. Examples include Vince's 50 m penalty, Walker being called play on when clearly 15 m kick, Douglas' HTB, Petrenko HTB, Maric being held inside 50 last quarter, etc etc. I will go through all of them tomorrow if you like. Saints had 22 players on the field and 4 on the bench tonight.

But enough of the umpiring, nothing we can do about it, cop it on the chin and move on. Nothing we can do about shit umpiring. TO the game: I thought Tippett and Walker were awesome. Especially Tippett - he had a much improved game. Walker will be an absolute gun. He probably won't get dropped as Hentschell is injured so it'll probably he Hentschell out for Stevens. One thing Walker needs to work on IMO is his speed. Was a bit slow at times, however on the lead he's good enough. Maric was again great tonight and will be one of the better ruckman in the comp. He is so good at 1%'ers. The one where he ran with Vince/Knights I think and layed the sheppard/block for a good 30 m was brilliant.

Of the youngsters Otten impressed the most. Again looked very composed. IMO he can become a similar player to Andrew Mackie from Geelong. Dangerfield was also very good- he is so strong and is very hard to tackle. He's got very strong hips and stands up in tackles and always gets his hands free- only special players have this attribute- think Judd, Ablett. Petrenko also was very good and will be a direct replacement for Macca. I love his intensity.

Edwards and Goodwin were good as always. Macca didn't have as much influence as last week- we misssed his precise kicking a bit. Bock and Rutten did alright- especially Bock who won the tussle against Riewoldt. Rutten was a bit too loose tonight. Good to see Stiffy back- he was very good tonight. Can't really be bothered going through more players but all I can say is hopefully we get lucky with umpires next week.

30-11 equally appalling:eek:

WTF is unequally appalling then? 14-18? (I think it rhymes with) Duck off, please, just because the free kick count didn't favour you last week, ie the umpires didn't hand it to you on a silver plate, you think we couldn't find plenty of decisions that didn't go our way last week, difference is we've accepted it, happens all the time, you guys just can't accept it.

Yes the Tippet/Dawson one was a shocker, but it barely made up for the 5 he missed from having his arm/jumper/leg/head/whatever else held, not to mention the arm chopping, every other time he or any of our other players went near it. Oh and don't you dare touch Kosi or Riewoldt, they might fall to pieces. Should I go on?

I'm sorry, I rarely go off at the umpires, because at the end of the day there's nothing you can do, but really when its 11-30, thats a difference of 19, we didn't get 19 free kicks, you could say 3 times as many, I think I can release, that's just wrong. 18-14? Get over it, we get that all the time.

Sorry Mods, please delete if you feel the need, but just can't stand Collingwood ferals coming on here and telling me that was fair.
