Terrible game. Five more to go.

Tanking or not, the result is the same.

Our guys have mentally and physically checked out of season 2021.

We're still a chance to finish 18th. But I think 16th or 17th will be better.

North and Hawthorn will be excited for their trips to AO for sure.

But he hasn't.

I'm all for changing Hamish if we feel it necessary but Wells is not the answer.
Wells has been central to a 14 year long success at Geelong. His record is beyond criticism and he is widely accepted here in Geelong as the architect of this ongoing success.
The reason he hasn't produced as strongly lately is because the cat's are recruiting more so than drafting. It's just where they are in their window. Our list management has been poor and recruitment has been part of that. If Wells came to Adelaide for a few years, we would improve our list and he would leave behind his skillset for whoever his replacement might be.

Disagree.
The first priority our new coach (Nicks) had to do is build a team first culture from the ashes of team bin fire. Even blind Freddie can see he has been outstanding in his achievements on this.
He has a game plan which is built on team pressure and the intensity we've tried to play with this year has pleased everyone.
He has a significant list talent disadvantage to almost every other team yet he has produced a year that in spite of our ladder position, most fans would say has been encouraging and at times, exciting.
Nicks as coach is an easy target after games like today but fair dinkum, we have probably 15 players on our list that the club should 'move on' before they sack the coach.
That said, this approaching trade, draft, delist period is as important to his future here as the team on field performance has been this year. After two years as head coach, his decisions (along with the recruitment team) cannot fail this summer.
I'm happy to be challenged on this opinion but I think he's been pretty good overall. I like him.
He may not be our next premiership coach but at this time in our rebuild (on and off field) he's been all we could have asked for. Just think about how everyone felt two years ago when the club was 'burning down'.
Matthew Nicks may not have the team to be super competitive just yet, but he's got a team that most of us are proud of again. I hate results like today's but I'm loving the journey of this year.

I'm not seeing anything resembling a change to a team first culture. Captain playing injured, finger pointing, arguments on field, not caring enough to position yourself correctly to help teammates. I think you need to differentiate between a supposed relationship guy that is a breath of fresh coming in to replace a toxic coach that had lost the group from actual, genuine and meaningful cultural change. To me this looks likely to be no more long lasting and genuine than the happy and fun preseason we had to smooth over the CM debacle. Especially now the coach and players are clearly showing signs of being under pressure. And you'd have to ask yourself, where is the pressure coming from? We're off a spoon, clearly remain a bottom 3-4 side across a full season and have seen a couple of really good signs. And yet, we're seeing what we're seeing.

He has awesome attributes to become a fantastic specialist tagger. Getting him around the ball more can only be a positive with our ultra vanilla mids.
Good thought Growncrow. I am warming to ned but we need to use his one wood more effectively. His ability to run all day. He could run with players like Walsh parish butters etc and give them a hard time and get some hard ball and given quick reflex handball In close An excellent suggestion

He's delivered a lot more than Ogilvie has though and you are forgetting of course he hadn't because they've traded picks away go get experienced players from other clubs. So hadn't been left with much but in the 2000s when he did look what he did, would be no Geelong 07-11 without him.

Seen their FS selections they got for nothing?

They wouldn't have won 3 flags without Hawkins, Scarlett, Ablett, Ablett and Blake.
