Game Day Crows vs Cats - Gather Round

Makes you wonder if we have a plan B when plan A doesn't work.
If we didnt have a plan for the heat last week and adjusting this week then I dont even know if we have a Plan A

I talked about the idea of focussing on ''one game at a time '' the mantra Nicks introduced early. By focussing on the game 1 at a time is you dont plan for 5 day breaks - you just roll into it and hope you are far enough in front to make it not matter

Hot weather last week + 5 day break did us

Struggled at the end of quarters and much of the second half. Heaps of uncharacteristic skill errors on tired legs and Geelong got more numbers to the footy as the game wore on

Needed to rotate a few more in hindsight

If I hear Nick's say " in that space" , " not our dna" or "comes from contest" I'll flipping be gutted. How many times do we have to hear that crap.

i'd be more inclined to blame that if close losses were out of the ordinary but this is just another for the letdown collection, plain and simple.

100% this. You could see it after the end of both quarters in the first half. Did nothing to help it.

Just don't want to play GC up there until mid year...that's the key...we were absolutely spent...needed to be 4 or 5 goals up at 3 qtr time to win it.

Maybe 8 to 9 goals up. The game turned around just before halftime. Geelong were never losing this one.

Adelaide were exhausted big time combined with that missed call last week may have affected them. After 2023 I said how this team has a history of not handling adversity. We have to change that now. Look at Hawthorn, look at Geelong, use them as examples.

Big standalone night game.
Favourites.
Expectations aplenty.
No excuses.

These are the types of games we have failed at in years gone by, I think we have finally turned the corner.

Carn the Crows.

Posted this before the game, yep, these are the types of games we lose.

Great stat they just brought up we've lost 15 of 17 games decided by 15 points and under the last couple of years.

Zero point zero composure, I doubt Nicks has drilled us what to do in close games - he's a moron, don't assume he's done the obvious - the stats don't lie.

Nicks chose not to enact the heat policy. So if he blames fatigue he's a moron

It's obvious every time.
When the other team says let's rumble,
we revert to total wtf decisions, choke on kicks, drop marks, look so panic riddled.
Is someone going to change that? Anyone?

He's a moron regardless

Even Rankine was flubbing 20m kicks in the last quarter, legs gone

But yes, Nicks can't use it as the reason given his previous idiocy

Yep.

Fatigue was of course a factor but Nicks took away his right to complain by denying us access to something that might have helped in that area

Come on, you can’t blame the umpire for that.
The AFL put their best 4 in to hide the fix. Umpires absolutely had an influence in the comeback.

After that the 5 day break took its toll.

Tex should have taken a shot at goal. But instead not 15 and ball up other end... Then they just call every 20 to 25m kick after that play on.

Or we get a goal... then a made up Free in the centre...

I am so cynical.

We need to be a giod little "interstate club" and if we obey and make the AFL money, we might get a reward... sometime in the imaginary future, when they decide.

Nicks is destroying our window. Still not up to it in tough games. ROB is ****ing useless. Same midfield mix in the last quarter. The dynamic changes of last week gone. Crouch’s inability to play anywhere else reduces our flexibility in rotations. Outcoached once again.
Just so frustrating and disappointing. Our neglect of anyone competent to replace ROB in ruck is going to destroy our window. **** this club.
We aren't in the window. That's delusional.

You are only in the window after a year or 2 making finals.

Yes. Very frustrating. Skill errors.

But can't blame Nicks when the result doesn't go our way and then credit something else when it does.

Today wasn't coaching. We lacked genuine match ups in key areas and continually robbed peter to pay paul.

When we were fresh and could counter attack it didn't matter. When we were gassed and made very poor decision and skill errors we lost.

However, the effort and endeavour was there for 4 quarters.

But we need Butts back in form or Murray back soon. or preferably both. Worrell, Max or Keane are never going to nullify a Cameronesque forward.

That's the mark of a developing team.

This game probably shows exactly where we are at. In development and list.

We are short on quality tall defenders and OBrien is getting any better in ruck.

No 5 day break and we probably win. In 1 years time we probably hold on despite a 5 day break.
