Game Day Crows vs Port: Showdown 57

Just need to endure the defensive pressure they apply. They are good at it and can choke up good teams with it.

But it is not sustainable. Even their wins, the oppo have had late surge goals.

Get through that period with scores close and then expose Thilthy against their backline. Which is the worst in the league.

He could potentially kick 10 tonight.

A serious team wins by 6 goals + here.

Curtin 20 touches and a couple of goals.
Thilthorpe beast mode, 10 marks, 4 goals, Showdown medal.

Worrell/SPP biff.

Crows by 48.

Rob fir Showdown medal. He may break the hitout and hitout to advantage records.

I’m not sure what’s known as the most overrated stat in football is going to win him a showdown medal. Will need to do a fair bit around the ground. I know SFA about Visentini, could he have been brought in to largely concede hitouts but be better around the ground and hope that creates an overall advantage? Back the Port mids to rove to ROB or nullify the hitout advantage. Reality is ROB has a hitout advantage against most rucks, it’s just that ordinarily he is a statue until the next ball up or throw in.

RoB beat DeKonning last week around the ground in general play.

It all comes down to midfield. If we’re able to get properly directed ball to our forward targets, they’ll win enough one on ones to put Port to the sword. If we’re talking about pressured bombs, then I reckon Ratagulea and Aliir will be better in the air overall than TT. Midfield and drive from backline is the key.

17 to 7 disposals, 359m gained to 98, 3 to 1 clearances, 1 to 0 marks. Seriously, by what metric was ROB more involved outside the stoppage?
I always thought you were more of an "eye test" guy over stats.
RoB beat DeKonning every time they were one on one. Have a look at Fog's first goal for a good example.

DeKonning got a lot of free ball when playing down back. Spent a lot of the game essentially being a defender.

I'll take a 1 point win.
Im fine with that, especially if its a Rankine goal after the siren.

  1. Heartbreaking Loss, after they had hope, like every Finals series for them
  2. Gives Rankine redemption
  3. Keeps Kenny's position more tenable

Time to reclaim the title of best team in the state with a commanding win.

We are the far better team on paper & format, but counts for nothing without 4 points.
What are you cooking and what are you washing it down with?

Im sure you have planned in advance for this evening?

Leftovers tonight.

Mexican & very, very spicy soup cooked by the better half.

Have a Burke Salter Merlot Cab Sav to finish off.

My Port Power supporting friends giving away their tickets. Delicious.
My most one eyed friend i caught up with for a showdown lunch yesterday said something I have never ever heard out of his mouth... he actually thinks we will win.

Hope he right!

But he would never miss a game.

The one on one aspect only matters at stoppages. DeKonning contributed more than ROB around the ground, you can’t argue otherwise.

Are cheap disposals around the ball akin to raw hit out stats?

DeKonning had 17 disposals (11 uncontested at) at 47%. With 8 turnovers.

So only 8 decent disposals.

RoB had 7 dispsals at 100%.

RoB had 3 more score involvements. And a goal assist.

So yeah, statistically RoB was better.
