Drill it down to sub 15/20 gamers
So we keep drilling down until it works in our favour?

We have played younger teams in the last two years under Lyon and have looked a shit load better.

All i want is a bit of hope.

I watched a team on Thursday night which had no right to win.
This was how they matched up.

Going up against a team that finished 15th last year i would have hoped that we would have shown something in that first quarter at least. We barely gave a whimper.

Positives

Macrae improves our midfield
Hastie showing something given backline under siege
Sincs added to our mids when moved there
Windy tagging Dawson improved us
Hall excellent as a small forward in a side being well beaten
Thought Wilson was trying to get busy
Boyd gets a pass so far
O’Connell gets a mulligan - playing undersized on a well beaten side

Think generally we are trying but too many out - outclassed

I don’t know what others expected

I honestly feel like we played alright, kids and sub afl level players are always gonna make mistakes.

Yep, basically I reckon we were about even across most of the ground, but they had us on toast in transition and inside their forward 50, which has given them a bunch of easy goals.

Well that was a pretty gross half.

Marshall is underdone. Reckon we have seen the best of Wood. Another player that seems to have lost a few kg of muscle under Lyon, now he is poor one on one. Moved off the ball far too easily.

I am a broken record, but every single side is visibly more powerful. Young blokes are cut up. There is no other side in the league that looks remotely close us physically.

We look comfortably 10% weaker than our opposition to the naked eye every week. Probably more.

We either don't trian hard enough, or the club doesn't think strength and power matters.

Either option has me super concerned about the coaching staff.

The key from here is to avoid a big defeat. This was always going to be tough but we need to show we can grind here. Maybe even grind our way back and give them a scare, you never know. We need to be tough though, fight for every ball. Our pressure in the first quarter was weak.

We are having a crack apart from Hill but we still got outscored kicking with the wind due to wasting our chances up forward.

We badly lack height at both ends and are constantly getting outmarked, no King. Sharman, Owens and Howard doesn't help.

Caminiti isn't the answer up forward, he hasn't taken a mark, Boyd hasn't taken a mark either but at least provides a contest.

Surely Keeler needs to get a go sooner rather than later even if it's just as the sub to give us a tall marking target up forward.

It's been interesting listening to the claim, made ad nauseam, and amplified in the echo chamber, "we have gone from the 2nd oldest list to the 5th youngest", like it's a good thing, politician PR speak is all it is, and designed to distract us.

Only time will tell if this "5th youngest list", has any potential...at least 2 to 3 years.

Enjoy the ride in the mean time.

Brad Hill doesn't have a drop of sweat on him, says it all
Brad Hill for where our list was at was a weird call
He’s icing on cake type player out cake is mush at minute needs another 2-3 years in oven
Still he’s a senior player just not good enough
Jones is diabolical just poor full stop
Byrnes …gets it ….hands it back
Caminiti ain’t gonna be a forward sorry but it’s backline or VFL for mine
IF we are 2-3 years off play these guys kids like Keeler - can’t have been worse
We saw what Tigers did with youth - back em in
Our “seniors fringe” ain’t good enough that simple

Too many passengers -

Hill 1 solitary possession,
Jones & Garcia have been poor,
Midfield too slow,
Cordy is an embarrassment,
Caminiti is not a forward,
Woods struggling,
Marshall not fit,
Windhagers disposal has been poor,

OConnell hardly sighted but gets a pass as its first game.

Boyd has been good but our mids arent reading most of his taps,
Webster excellent,
Shoenmaker has been ok needs more urgency when attacking opposition.
Hall we have another small forward option,
McRae getting the ball but zero hurt factor,
Steele trying hard but out classed,
NWM good but gets too cute with his kicks too often,
Sinclair is just all class but needs the run.

Moral to the story for RtB is you cant play blokes without match practice under their belt, its just too big a step for most. We are simply missing too many soldiers and will get belted until with have a full list available.

Might as well sub off Boydie and bring Hunter on. Not that he’s going too bad just there’s no point playing Ro forward today when the ball isn’t getting down there. Need him to take marks around the ground.
