A terrible list led by a terrible coach.

Ayres has now turned two grand final teams into teams that can't make the finals.

Its a real shame.

This is pathetic

I cant believe it
You have only written this as revenge against C4E for his posts

Anyway I wouldn't gloat, crows biggest challengers are going to come from the magpies for the wooden spoon

Magpie Mark -Your first line describes both Adelaide and Collingwood.

I hope you're joking. I'll agree with the poor list but there is no way you can call Mick a terrible coach. He made West Coast into what they used to be.

And this is not simply revenge for C4Eva's posts. Its common sense. What do Adelaide have other than a core of five or so good players. Jarman is past it and doesn't like Ayres. Robran as captain? Please!

McLeod, Riccuito, Hart and Smart are not enough to stop Adelaide coming last.

The only thing that could stop them is if (or when) they get rid of Ayres.

eehehehe

Yeah

Who do collingwood have then

Buckly and ....................

o well
Though its still 50/50 as to who finishes lower out of adelaide and collingwood.

My money is on Collingwood
Adelaide has enough home games wins in the bag to be enough to say they dont get the wooden spoon and i cant say the same for collingwood.

Plus adelaide have at least 2 players of the same quality of Buckly
Richouto and Mc cloed
(sorry bout the spelling)

Interesting topic, Magpie Mark. I must admit after watching the Demons/Crows London game I had the same thought!!! Then I remembered who was in our team over there - a lot of guys who are just learning footy, and a few who were just having fun. I don't think Mark Stevens stopped grinning the whole game. (Must have been on the whoopy weed.) Also Robran was Captain for the day in the absence of Roo, Hart, McLeod, Goodwin etc, etc. Time will tell whether the team can improve next season, but maybe you should remember that people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones .....

At least my glass house has young players inside that actually look like they will become established league footballers, unlike the 'players' Ayres has managed to give a game.

What youngsters, other than Eccles (who nearly left anyway) have the crows got?

Be careful what you say Magpie Mark because the word out of Collingwood is that Mick Malthouse will again be experimenting with the side and playing players out of their rightful or natural positions. He could not care less if we finished wooden spooners again if it meant we will be a force again. It seems the OX is going to be slower than we think!

The OX may as well be dead if he keeps playing players out of pos. We all saw what happened when he tried to put Lockyer/POrchard on Farmer this year. And A Rocca in the ruck? Leads to ineffectiveness at CHF.

Young guns to come on for the Crows: Stenglein, Perrie, Biglands, Crowell, Shirley; and Matthew Shir looks pretty good, if he can stay injury free. Having Neil Craig coming back into the fold gives me a little more confidence for season 2001.

Why is it that when somebody doesn't like what is said about their football team, they launch personal attacks against the person who said it.

If people have arguments to make why don't they just talk about footy instead of dragging the level of posts down entirely.

Back to the issue, of that list I would say Shir and Burton are good prospects (with maybe O'Loughlin and Biglands)

Magpie Mick your team sucks ass!, thatz why yous delist 10 + players every year,
All our youngsters, and stars have been mentioned, but you fergot about

Burton
Vardy
Welsh
Bassett
Clarke
Stevens

all these players will have better years in 2001.

Plus Bode is just what we need, and E.Hewitt given a chance could fill in our troubled Full forward Position.

Collingwood

The only players worth somethin at Collingwood are
A. Rocca
Fraser
Fatso Molloy and maybe Lockyer

all the rest suck

Honestly everyone, would Collingwood be good enough to win an SANFL premiership??

Adelaide wouldn't be good enough to win the SANFL preimership either.

The players you talk of are all OK players. I will give you that. BUT they will only be OK players under the right conditions. The thing that will hold them back is AYRES! He is the problem and he is why they will finish last in 2001. Unless of course they sack him. Adelaide (for the most part) has a decent administration so unless it turns around, this will be all they'l be left to do.

And Molloy isn't fat, he just hasn't grown into his body yet!

lol Magpie M

I think Ayres is a good coach, and i think its great what the AFC is doing, to keep the crows in Europe together after the Melb match, hopefully on there way bac some team unity will be restored, and that players respect Ayresy a bit more.

Or maybe on the way back they could throw him out of the plane and end all the misery that they will face next year.

I tried hard to ignore this thread. I should have known I couldn't.

C4E I admire your loyalty to the coach. Unfortunately I think Magpie Mark's assesment of his ability is closer to the truth. He was outcoached a no. of times last year & made some astonishlingly bad/late moves. If we have a bad season then don't be suprised if Neil Craig is senior coach this time next year.

As for the list. It's not that bad. We were short 1 tall forward, 1 tall defender & 2 wingmen. We picked up a tall forward & an onballer in trading so if the younger players like McGregor (he had better), Stenglein etc come on & we draft well then the list is promising. With all due respect I think it's a stronger list then Collingwoods.

12 games at Footy park should also play a part in keeping us away from the bottom.

My prediction is that we finish 8th, win 3 finals & then beat St. Kilda in the GF.

Crows in 2000 were not great, but at the same time were further of the bottom (and nearer the eight) than Collingwood.

Crows have a core group of players that are reliable and would make any team: McLeod, Ricciuto, Hart, Smart, Goodwin, Johnson, Edwards, Robran. Jarman is worth a spot still. Thats half the team.

The next group are around the mark, but perhaps beaten by their opponent slightly more often: Stevens, McGregor, Welsh, Vardy, Bassett, Eccles.

Potential good players, with some doubt over them still: Burton & Perrie.

Amongst the others, there are enough with promise to make a competitive unit.

Season 2000 saw a slight improvement for Crows despite a disasterous start.

Good news for next season is the return of Neil Craig, who can get them fit enough (as he did in 97 and 98) and has considerable football nous. All Ayers has to do is let Craig call the moves in the games.

But the very best news for Crows is that they will once again be underestimated. This very thread is evidence! Being written off even before the pre-season is the very thing that will help Crows in 2001 more than any other factor.
