The importance of crumbing forwatds is massive to a teams 'structure', and we have not had one for years. Going into a game without these types of players practically gives the other team a 4 or 5 goal start.

Look at the impact that Millera and Saad have had at St.Kilda.

Both of them were plucked off the scrapheap at the end of last year, and they are making the Saints look very dangerous.

Yet here is the MFC, with NOT ONE crumbing forward on the entire list!!!!!

Enough is enough, it has to be fixed this trade/draft period, no questions asked.

Fair call. Good call. Timely call.

Bennell is out till this time next year (if he even survives the cut), Davey is not getting any younger and the Lawrence experiment looks like failing.

Scout the amateur leagues and find us one. That Walters today was unreal.

I feel we had a thread about this not so long ago? Anyway, the point is still very valid. Breaks my heart when the ball goes sailing into our fifty and bounces off a pack into the hands of un-pressured opposition defenders who link up and shoot the ball out the other side.
Scour the country's various leagues until we find a decent one, and keep him locked in the F50 for the rest of his career.

We need a couple if we're honest with ourselves. But they need to know where the goals are.

Forward pressure is great and doing the little things and all that but we need smalls who can kick 'em whether they be out of their arse or simple roving goals.

This is where Aussie left a gaping hole in our list :(

I have no doubt the club will address this. I wonder if Blease could excel in a crumbing fwd role, or if it would (a) stunt his development as a winger, and/or (b) be a waste of his talents?
Blease doesn't like to defend. Neeld doesn't like Blease. Blease no good as small forward.

Can we get Burns from Geelong?

No I didn't, don't worry man I'm just talking shit. :D I did like Blease's goal yesterday when he pwned that dude on the mark. I like his style.
Fair enough. Yeah, Blease does that every week, doesn't get the credit he deserves for it. Neeld has said in a few interviews that Blease has the weapons and work ethic to become elite.

And I think he does. Furthermore, I've seen things in the last month (and heard) that lead me to believe he is developing an appetite for the contested stuff. He laid 8 tackles or something in a game, maybe last week? So he can do the defensive stuff...

He had seven tackles with seven possessions last week against the Tigers, but even better - 29 disposals and ten clearances against Sydney in Round 8.

Assuming he maintains this sort of development - he's still only played 14 games - I can't see what will stop him from being a top midfielder. His broken leg has not slowed him down one bit, either.

Yeah he has the ability no doubt. I hope he doesn't become like so many other young talented Demons. Needs to find ways of staying in games for four quarters.

Ashton Hams from West Coast could be interested in a move seeing as they have lecras, hill and newman all ahead of him or will probably be chosen over him (Newman).

Dennis-Lane from Sydney whilst not a pure small forward could be useful?

A lack of a small forward is certainly a hole in the list. I'm sure Neeld would have known this when he mentioned we had gaps that need to be filled when he was appointed but he saw a big target up forward as most important (filled with Clark) and some mature bodies to help the kids. Not all the gaps could be filled at once and I think he would have been hopeful that at least one of Davey, Bennel or Jetta would be able to give us something as a crumbing forward. I'm sure it will be a priority along with speedy skillful midfielders.

We need 2 genuinely speedy players who have good tackling/pressure skills and can kick the dd goal.

Rohan Bail (now that Jamie Bennell is out) is the only one on our list that I reckon could be worth a shot - otherwsie we need new blood.
