Surely if you're just in it for the potential financial upside you'd be better off gambling on sports as it's tax free?

I say that as someone who was in it for the tech/implicit financial upside and then eventually exited crypto in 2021 once I realised the tech wasn't taking hold as I expected so it was therefore just a gamble. Crypto is essentially a lottery these days with people of the opinion that wide scale adoption is coming soon™, yet here we are 14 years later and crypto is still used for sweet FA.
All investing is gambling to some extent. You can buy blue chip shares or residential property and lose big. Investing and gambling are differentiated only by whether the odds are in your favor or against.

I'm not good enough at sports betting to continually make money from it on a regular basis. Where I've had success is in betting against Australia in the cricket when we play test matches in Asia, and that success is based on treating it as an investment when the odds are favourable. That's about my only edge in the sportsbetting game, however simple it may be.

The same thought process applies to crypto. If I buy bitcoin at $20k with a 5:1 risk reward using selling price of $100k and stop loss of zero, am I gambling or investing? I personally think $100k is far more likely than $0 so the process is based on mathematical rationale rather than a crapshoot.

I think the timeline for adoption is running reasonably well. We had Tesla and Microstrategy jump on board during the past bull run.

To call crypto a gamble implies that it's difficult to do better than a coin flip when that's certainly not the case. There's any number of ways to have an edge in this game. You certainly didn't need to be a financial Einstein to jump on the NFT or AI trains and make good money.

Floki has much more upside than Shib.

It just pumped 30% after Elon posted a pic of his dog.

Well yes, this is an entirely reasonable thesis for investing money into something that has absolutely no utility.

Crypto speculation is officially back ladies and gentlemen!

Sure. I bought a heap when it listed on Swyftx 2 days ago. It's doubled in price since then.

It will be listed on kucoin in next couple of days.

It's a meme coin, so I don't really care what utility it has (metaverse, NFT)

What a lot of people fail to realise is that speculation and hype provides far more upside than actual utility in crypto. The best thing for your token is that promises are never delivered because that will always lead to 'selling the news'. A failure to meet deadlines usually won't provide the same sort of dump.

Rfox going strong “after the news” … it is well invested in the metaverse… has income streams … has hit 48cents AUD the last 2 cycles…
Current market cap 42mill Usd
MANA 1.3 billion usd

I’m holding only 50,000 rfox.

Have any of you invested in any AI-related cryptos? I'm considering dipping my toes into Ocean Protocol, as I'm always an advocate for De-fi exchanges.

The main concern I'd have with buying into the AI narrative now is you're not early. Playing crypto narratives is a game of musical chairs and you don't want to be left being a bagholder when the music stops.

True that! I only ever HODL, so I won't be playing the markets either. What do you believe to be a good buy at present?

Hahaha, nah, I view his videos from time to time, but in no way am I an avid follower, or someone who heeds his advice.

Same

I don't actually have any anything AI atm
Have held Ocean quite a while ago

Wouldn't be a bad idea to DMOR and get one in the portfolio for hodl as theres lots more now compared to when i held Ocean

I was in OCEAN and a couple other AI tokens a few weeks back. I sold well before the top, but I locked in profits so I'm happy. BTC and ETH are the only two with a proven history so they're really the only two I'm hodling for long term. They currently comprise over 90% of my portfolio.

The bigger money is made from playing small caps at the moment, but that's not really my game.
