How does one go about buying into an ICO?

Im currently verified on Binance and BTC Markets
ICOs are generally offered on the coins own website, then after release, they are listed on an exchange.

If you want to buy into an ICO, head to that crypto's website. You can then often add a wallet to send to when the coin is live, or they sometimes have their own online wallets.

Yeah generally it’s on their website.

You send them Ether (or the payment of their choice) and they’ll send you tokens. Or they’ll allocate you tokens and send to you within a certain period of time.

Careful though. I’ve read a few stories where scammers have setup fake pages with their own address and stole funds from ICOs! One was 60+ Ether before people realised what was up!

Nice thanks man.

I’m not sure now though. It’s at an ATH. Buying at an ATH high is a good way to get burned!

I've learnt to steer clear of these but the fomo is still strong in me.

Still plenty of room for growth. Don’t stress.

You go to their landing page and you will have to register first. There will be some kind of instructions on how to buy their tokens during the ICO. Normally it's a matter of sending them BTC or ETH to purchase their tokens (they will provide an address to send the BTC or ETH to). Many ICOs these days only allow you to purchase their tokens using ETH...but some ICOs will accept Bitcoin as well. There are others that also accept USD and litecoin. It just depends on the ICO. However ETH is by far the most commonly accepted currency for purchasing tokens during an ICO, so you should have some of it on standby if you want to participate in an ICO.

Don’t think he could buy prior to being verified, therefore he has missed the weekend growth. Based on what I know anyways.

Hey guys,

Please excuse me if this question comes across bit naive..

I have recently got some XRP via BTCMarkets...

I hear alot of talk about "wallets"... Why does someone need a "wallet"?

Cheers :thumbsu:

Binance has been down for an hour. How often does this happen?
Never happened since I've been on it.

Because if the exchange is hacked all your money is gone. Don't leave it on the exchange.

sabre_ac Can you please change thread title to something like Cryptocurrency Talk

Cheers mate, that makes sense!

Yeah I have used exodus, it's a good wallet that supports all the most popular cryptos. Be aware that storing your crytpos on an android wallet is actually safer than a desktop wallet, because Windows is much easier to hack than android.

Nothing beats cold storage for security though (meaning your cryptos are stored offline, making hacking impossible). You need to purchase a hardware wallet to keep your crytpos in cold storage. The ledger nano S is probably the most popular hardware wallet on the market. You can store all the major cryptos on there + all ERC20 tokens by using your nano in conjunction with MyEtherWallet. The Ledger Blue is a big step up from the nano S, as it's a tablet-like device with a touchscreen, though it has a bigger price tag attached to it.

Back in the crypto game finally

so pissed that I sold factom around 30 and it's now in the 50's, it's going strong like I thought and expected it to. Monaco also still strong. Love those two coins.

unfortunately Bittrex not taking new customers, they can't handle the current load of customers (concerning) and have to do upgrades to be able to, hopefully it's soon, like a day not weeks or months
