Hey guys, 3 weeks ago i knew absolutely nothing about crypto currency... 3 weeks later I know something but still feel like a foreigner... Anyway, I joined BTC Markets & dabbled $200 and jumped on the XRP bandwagon (@ 0.98)... spewing bcos when I first started looking into it, it was 0.34... Anyways still got some growth..

Just after advice on what its best to do, is it just leave it and see what happens years down the track as I didn't invest big$ to begin with?

Leave it.

Unless you're happy to cash out with the $50 gain and be done with cryptos. XRP still has plenty room for growth and is as good as any other to hold on to

I joined this crypto market December 12 and the biggest lesson I've learned is to hold. Trying to day trade has backfired on me. I guess its all experience even with mistakes you make.

What sort of goals do you have? In the short term (end of Jan) id like to see my portfolio double in value assuming the new year will bring a lot of new investors. By end of 2018 hopefully I have 5x what I started with. Beyond thaton 2-4 years from now if crypto becomes mainstream i want to reduce my mortgage by half.

At some stage this year id like to convert some profits to fiat and get back my initial investment so no matter what happens I've at least broken even.

Buckle up...hold on....and enjoy the ride!!!
I've gone in with the mind set that i will re-evaluate my position on each coin a year after the initial purchase.
That way i dodge some capital gains tax (I believe)...given the coin enough room to mature(after a year you should know enough as to whether its worth holding, folding or trading)... and if you look back on this market a year ago and see the gains/growth since you may be pleasantly surprised at what 'could potentially happen'!!
We've all got different things going on so only you know whats best for your circumstances. I'm in a position to be able to set up a portfolio and let it sit...whilst adding to it when i can along the way.

All the best...

Looking at jumping aboard this hype train...

Anyone have any recommendations for good multi-coin wallets? Everything I'm finding just says bitcoin but I'm not sure if that ship has sailed?

Hoping I can drop a couple hundred into a few options on the market, export to a hard drive for security, and then just sit for a year and see what happens.

A mate of mine got vertified by coinspot but can’t put any money into account. What’s the deal with that?

The following was lifted straight from reddit. Sounding pretty good.

Some dude on Digibyte.

2018 is a big year for crypto because of lightning networks more than anything. The ability to get into and out of alts through atomic swaps without dealing with all the annoyances of exchanges (fees, registrations, proof of id, limits, bad pairings, etc) or in having to beg exchanges to support x, y or z alt to make them accessible is huge. But Lightning may also open up the opportunity to congested, slow coins with unaffordable fees to offload txs onto to nimble chains, like Litecoin (this is basically LTC's reason for existing at the moment, see: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2561504.msg26099995#msg26099995

Digibyte hasn't spoken to this issue, though I've been trying to get them to talk about it. But their tech seems perfect for the opportunity. I think if they're early in, even getting beat to the punch by LTC won't stop them from developing a bigger use case than everything they currently imagine combined. And it's not just BTC who might offload on to DGB, maybe someday, LTC itself will need the help. DGB's prioritization of transaction volume and speed will look very nice if they play their cards right. Though, to date, I'm not even clear on whether DGB implemented lightning support after adding segwit, I just mostly think of segwit as a lightning precursor so I'm hoping that's baked in.

Beyond that highly speculative conjecture, 2017 wasn't a great year DGB in terms of price, attention or anything else relative to the rest of the market. But the tech is good. In a market of this size and level of growth, an old, but still actively developed, advocated (new support in software, exchanges et al) and used coin (unlikely to die), well-secured, with a clear reason for being (transaction speed/volume) that also happens to be on people's minds given BTC congestion and costs, is almost certain to have its day in the sun. As traders make gains on one tier of crypto, they usually step down and invest some of those gains in the next tier. First BTC goes up, then ETH/LTC/ZEC, on down to STR/XRP/EMC2, etc etc. News didn't drive most of those gains, it was just new money flooding in and old money trickling down. I've watched this pattern repeat over and over again this year. The surest, least speculative source of 2018 growth is those gains finding DGB the way they mostly didn't in 2017. DGB looks to me like one of the most under-priced coins around.

That's a little speculative too, of course, you might point to a pump or another and say that was DGB's day in the sun and it blew its chance. Maybe. But DGB didn't make any mistakes. There was no mt gox, there was no dao. Just a little trading manipulation which may have spooked away enough noobs to ensure future price manipulation will be less successful, and the old money won't care about the spikes b/c they've seen them and traded off them before. Eventually, I think we'll see the sort of permanent big growth that lots of less deserving alts got on sheer deferred momentum. I think that may be in the pipeline even if DGB does nothing. Finished

Oh one thing he didn't say, buy on the dips and HODL like a mofo.

Do any of you see a future for litecoin? Currently got about 40% tied up in it due to getting in early, but I’m contemplating swapping it to mostly XRP and maybe some bitcoin cash. Thoughts?

HODL. Litecoin could go huge and I reckon it will. Talk of them teaming up with Facebook, as well as talk of Amazon and Apple...

If I could load up on any coins it'd be Litecoin and Monero.

I told myself to get into Monero during the Christmas dip. Went with XVG due to all the hype. Such an idiot.
