Cryptocurrency mega-thread

I just made an ETH purchase on crypto.com, and the transaction shows as going through and it has withdrawn from my bank account, but my wallet hasn’t updated yet. I’ve done a bit of reading and this can be normal sometimes in periods of high traffic? Has been about 20 minutes since the purchase

Yeh it’s been taking a bit longer than usual lately, I purchased something last night it took about 20 minutes also. Welcome to the ETH club 😉

I have most of my crypto in crypto.com, for the more experienced in here, is this generally a reliable exchange? I also have some in Swyftx and Binance, is it worthwhile transferring it all to one wallet? Is this an easy process?

Yep it’s reliable. I use that as well as a host of others (Bittrex, Binance, KUCoin).

Also if you plan on holding long term, think about investing in a ledger.

Is it any less safe holding your crypto on an exchange vs a hard wallet? What if you lose your key to the hard wallet?

Google crypto exchanges collapsing
I did, seems like this happened in the past but all have far superior security measures now (and some also have insurances now too). One thing that made me resistant to crypto was the stories of people losing their passwords to private wallets and never being able to access them again.

Just got $25 this morning and already worth $35 lol.

With all these shitcoins, just get in for some spare change for a laugh then get out quickly.
I have 10M and it went up about 300 bucks overnight haha, will just transfer into some ETH soon

It still happens. Hotbit was atacked a couple of weeks ago and only just came back online (yesterday I think).

It's generally considered safe to have multiple wallets in these kinds of events. I could have $10k in swyftx, if that gets hacked, it will go offline. My money may or may not be safe.

or

I could have 2.5k in Swyftx, 2.5k in Binance, 2.5k in whatever blah blah.

If one gets hacked, it's not a massive loss.

I personally use a Hardware wallet as it's an extra layer of security. It's not on any exchange. My keys, my money. No transactions can be made without the physical Ledger in my hand.

If your concern is losing passwords/seed phrases etc, then, why are you losing them? Write them down, keep them safe. Personally, I have two separate family members that have a copy of my passwords/seed phrases. So if my house burns down, I still have a record. If my Ledger gets stolen in a burglary, I still have my seed phrases to recover my assets.

EDIT - Hardware wallets can be expensive. Somebody up above mentioned Metamask, I use Trust Wallet. They are a software wallet separate to an exchange. They can only be hacked if you give someone your seed phrases. Also considered relatively safe.

Well I have spread across three exchanges and am thinking of moving some across to another to spread out a bit more. Is this relatively easy to do?

BTC looking dumpy so I cut the shitcoins at a small loss.
Check out BurnX. Still only 100 wallet holders, no marketing etc. They will be making applications to CMC and Coin Gecko shortly.

Launched on ETH rather than BSC, less likely to be a scam/rug pull.

I think this thing has a lot of legs. I won't take any profits until 1000+ wallets.
