I was just talking to my uncle and he wrote me an email saying that he went to the club clinic.
This is the email.
Hey Mitch
Sam and I made the attended the Cub's Club Clinic for the second year (although it was a 'picnic' not a 'clinic' last year) and once again had a great time! Full marks to Richmond and the players for making a little kid and a big kid's day!
All the senior list and rookie players were in attendance (although I didn't see Wayne Campbell, Joel Bowden, or Andrew Krakouer). I was pleased to see Aaron Fiora running around and without any strapping or other device on his knee - looks like he'll be OK for the St Kilda match. On the other hand, Jay Schulz was hobbling around with his bruised buttock causing him some discomfort. Although I suppose the fact that he was out there could indicate that the injury isn't too serious.
Justin Blumfield made the comment of the day when retrieving yet another ball miskicked by the participants... he said, "gees, I've had more touches today that I did with Coburg". Looks like he may be back there next week instead of in the ones!
We had a bit of a laugh when our rotation was the kicking class - only to be met by Darren Gaspar! If only Gas could have been joined by the Kellaway brothers, the kicking class would have been truely educational!
The goal kicking rotation brought 2 great tiger names together in the goalsquare at Punt Road - Richardson and Roach. Yep, Richo and Roachy were showing the kids how to kick a goal from 40 meters out using firstly their right, then their left foot! Neither Roach or Richo missed - why does Richo miss these in a match when he had no trouble today - pressure perhaps or was it the fact that he had a 6 year old on the mark (i.e. considerably shorter opposition than he's used to)?
Sam finally got to meet his favourite player - Brad Ottens. Otto missed last year's event due to his back operation. He seemed to try and please every child that requested an autograph or photo and was the last player off the ground due to his popularity. He certainly made one child's day that's for sure!
Did anyone else attend?
