Culture problem...

mate, its BF not The Age, don’t take yourself so seriously. I was just saying what I saw and heard on the night. Couldn’t really care if Fev goes out and gets smashed every weekend, in fact I hope he keeps on doing it. It will just make it easier for the Cats when we play Carlton.

I don't like people like your mate who go up and randomly talk to people because they think they're cool and then bring back their mostly made up conversations to their mates

And where did you hear this? Barra or that ranga?

My mate who works for 6PR got a email from a certain North Melbourne "loving" journalist. Im surprised nothings been written about it yet but I suspect a bit like they did with us during the Cuzz era they are gonna compile evidence and blitz the story for weeks on end

conversation wasnt made up champ. why would my mate, a carlton support make up that conversation...?

I wont tar our youngsters in a public forum, everyone knows that fev and a few older players play up occasionally off the field and as vafa06 has said a few others who were at other venues later on that night can vouch for the story. I'm sure the club knows about it and i'm sure they are doing the best they can to correct any issues. Young guys are impressionable, they're famous with a fair bit of pocket money so if some of our senior players are setting a bad example its pretty easy to follow, staying out late on the drink with your mates is alot of fun, i've done it many a time, with the treatment these guys get from club owners, women and patrons in general it would be even moreso..

What i'm upset about is guys like Fev should know by now that is not the way to go, thats not what wins you games or premierships, they've got to show more hunger and discipline. I'm sick of losing games like last night.

I'm not going to name them here, but maybe a private letter to the club
may be the way to go?

how will these youngsters learn

clearly the club's and afl's education programs are not having the maximum effect, maybe if these players are named are named in public it will make them realise they need to change their ways.

We could very well have a big problem down at Princes Park. Perhaps our players and staff attitudes are behind the times.

Quite simple Blues, early morning training/recovery after weekends, breath tests and strict, harsh immediate punishment for offenders. A full alcohol ban, those who can't hack it can be gotten rid of. Ratten and his men need to be tougher (like Alistair Clarkson) and make sure he gets what he wants. Discipline & sacrifice = Success.

Where's Elliott Ness when you need him :p...

If these players are named they will think twice about going out in public. They will know the general public will be looking at them knowing they are doing the wrong thing and aren't ment to be there. It might be the kick up the arse they need to deflate a few heads.

never said i was a leading sports journalist... just contributing to the discussion with an experience of my own.

maybe you made up your mate as well.... your story is similar to Swiss cheese:cool:

Again, like I said in my first post, I don’t care if you don’t believe me, just saying what happened. Next time if I see fev out, ill make sure I get some video and audio evidence, just so I can satisfy the carlton BF faithful and show that im not just saying this to ‘be cool’ or get attention…

If this story is true,I have one thing to say!

How dumb are these players to go out in Melbourne after a game and get drunk?
It's not like anyone isn't going to recognize them.
I don't get footballers....you get picked by a club, they get glory, fame, perks and the small issue of a paypacket of 300k-1 Mill and all they have to do is train, and not disgrace themselves off-field(E.G: Stay off the piss for 6 months)!
But noooooooo...that's too hard.Fcuk Off!!!!

You would think that Judd would look down upon this sort of behaviour, given the rumours that the culture problems at West Coast had supposedly contributed to his decision to head home.

It's in the best interests of the club that there is a crackdown on this sort of behaviour.

All this is pissing me off. At the moment it sounds like playing finals is too much of a mental mountain to climb. Premierships come through hard work and sacrifice, not through selfishness and indulgence.

I'm going to blow a very big whistle on something here, because performances like the shit that was dished up to the members and supporters last night is unacceptable in my opinion. This club has not played finals in eight years, has been the laughing stock of the competition for as long and it looks like continuing this year unless some very big changes in mentality and performance occur.

Now I made a statement about a certain late night piss up that I witnessed last week at a St Kilda nightspot until the very early hours of the morning and that continued past that point until the sun came up for some very high profile players. Now I know for a fact these blokes had a recovery session at 10 in the morning. The hardness at which these players were partying and the time, i was unsure whether this recovery would be held at the Football club or at Revolver nightclub! Some people on here didn't believe if it was true but it absolutely is!

Now i'm not going to name names except for 1 (maybe 2 cos i find the 2nd interesting) because he was the ring leader and that is big bad "i'll play when I can be bothered and when its not to hard" Brendan Fevola. This bloke has got a well documented inflamed heel, alcohol makes these injuries worse and his level of intoxication was unacceptable for any player mid season in my opinion let alone a player that is overcoming an injury that is hampering his performance. Interesting to note that he rounded the boys up when the place closed at close to 4am and said "lets go to CQ lads" (CQ is a nightclub in the city for those uninitiated) about 8 senior players jumped in a maxicab and away they went. My very good sources tell me that they were at CQ early in the morning!! I'll give you one guess why i think Ryan Houlihan was dropped this week.. if he looked half as pissed and hungover as the last time i saw him when he rocked up to training in the morning shit would've hit the fan.

Back on Fev, last nights performance was a disgrace, he is a cancer on the club on and off the field, when he is hot he is hot when he is not he thinks its his god given right to bring the team down with him. If he was not injured he should come out publically and apologise for that inept effort, didnt run, didnt chase, didnt want to make a hard lead, looked like he'd rather be puffing on **** and sinking piss at a poker table! This guy is on big money, he is a senior player at our club, he is the most important player on our team and he continues to take it all for granted. Not only that, he is doing his very best to lead a number of younger players astray off the field as i saw early Sunday morning of last week. This is simply not good enough.

There is a massive culture problem at the club, and my inside sources in the club (agree or disagree with how credible they are, i'll tell you now they are very credible) say exactly the same thing, off the field some of these guys are out of control, no need to guess who the number 1 problem would be!

You get the feeling that these guys couldn't care less about winning or losing, as long as they half put in on the track and on match day they'll keep their spot and get paid. Their actions off field back up my belief in this. As much as these guys should be allowed to go out and have a drink there must be limits set on time and the level to which they can take it to. These guys are not normal people, they are paid big money to look after their bodies and prepare in a way that will benefit the club on matchday, what i saw last week and what i believe and have been told is not a once off occurence doesnt help that.

I've seen the photos allready....
Should be published tomorrow's paper.
Scotto was there too.

obviously u are pulling everyones leg with this one, doubt the paper would publish this!

BB - I only just read this thread. I was astounded by it.

While no one was making any claims re the Dees in 2009, many a critic placed Carlton in the Top 4.

Each one of the players should have been saying to himself: what am I prepared to do in order to maximise our chances of success.

Am I prepared to give up the grog for a year? Am I prepared to go to bed at an acceptable time? Am I prepared to give my body every chance to recover from injuries?

If these claims are true - and they sound genuine - then you and your fellow supporters have got every right to hold the Carlton Leadership Group accountable.

Then again, Fev is in the group. He is a cancer. David Parkin was right.

Clearly your boys just don't want to win it as much as your competitors such as Geelong or St Kilda.

Actually I work with the sports jornos and I happened to overhear something :)
Then I saw the photos...

You know Rahingo?

Any chance of an autograph for my *cough11yearoldnephewcough*? :thumbsu:

Our leaders need to be made up of more responsible players.

Our coach needs to be more of a hard-arse and treat all players like employees, he needs to be the boss, not their mate, this could be Ratten's biggest test.

I'd be asking questions of the players, coaches, leadership players and the president, CEO & Board. This issue needs to be taken more seriously and pressure to shape up must be applied to all.

Members aren't going to stand for this B.S. and there not going to sign up, people aren't going to go and watch a mob of pissheads play below par footy, the club will go right back down the drain.
