Culture problem...

If only these idiots drink juice. I should invite them allover to my place for a juice night.

Sorry to intrude, but i can tell you now, the OP is 100% CORRECT. I was at Tramp, along with a lot of my mates...and TBH i didnt notice any other Carlton boys but Fev...so not sure who went with him. This was at 8ish in the morning, so i dont know what time the recovery session was on the next day but its not good. But then again, its also not just refined to Carlton...
To the OP, great posting, you obviously love your club, and supporters, regardless of which team they follow, deserve better.

Again I never doubted the validity of the thread but would like the full story
Thanks for the help but.

The full story from my end is that a number of senior players had a good hitout at the bar and kicked on from where i saw them last at a late hour. As the whitelama said, Fev was out very late, and i'm not completely sure who (if any) stayed the journey with him. Hopefully it was only him out til that hour and the rest left a little earlier.

8 in the morning is not on...hopefully it was that he was gutted from the miss earlier that day and he wanted to drown his sorrows, though turning to the bottle is probably not the way to go. Not forgetting he's had some personal dramas in his life with the missus too, though its no excuse to make your teammates suffer along the way.

Geezus. Having a few quiet ones during the season is fine. However, getting smashed and staying out til sparrows fart is not on.

The club had better be aware that some of it's players view themselves as untouchable heroes who dont have to be accountable to anyone.

Really disappointing to hear. I think some of them need a big kick up the backside.

Whoever saw it, send a letter to the club. :thumbsu:

EEK!

Not what i want to be reading the night after such a rubbish performance. So much for turning the corner....

culture problem sums it up pretty well

I am figuring you don't want to name the young ones - fair enuf

You all must know how hard some of our most successful players of the past used to party - Dominator, Bucks, Maclure ...

I think it has been part of Carlton's culture through good and bad.

I imagine that most clubs have your 'sociable' group and our boys seem to have made the mistake of being out in public. For all anyone knows the Hawks boys could have been getting pissed at Buddy's place that night

I don't know whether you can do it nowadays and be as good as Judd, Ablett etc but Cuz and Kerr used to manage it a couple of years ago

Not good enough IMO:thumbsd:

If, as the OP states, there were 8 players partying until the early hours of Monday morning, there would seem to be a couple of issues here. The first being the obvious one, that Fev, Hoops & Scotty have not matured as they have got older. The second issue is that there were 5 other players who were not levelheaded, mature or committed enough to opt out & go home at an acceptable time.

It is of major concern to me that we have another 5 players who have let the club down, yet the OP is protecting their identity, even though their behaviour is just as bad as the 3 who have been named. They are all responsible for their own behaviour & they are therefore equally as culpable as the other 3. They should not be protected, they should be named & shamed, either on this forum or in communication with the club.

What this alleged behaviour tells me is there is not enough discipline at the club. The club strongly voiced its displeasure with Carlos' well publicised misdemeanour in the pre-season, intra-club game, yet would seem to be sweeping some unacceptable off-field behaviour under the carpet. A little bit of naming & shaming might get the message across that this type of behaviour will not be tolerated & the players involved are not bigger than the club themself. The best thing that could have happened to Heath Shaw & Alan Didak was the public humiliation they suffered after their stupid actions.

I can't vouch for the night after the Hawthorn game.

However all I can say is that I have seen quite a few of the boys out on the town, during the pre-season especially.

Everything you hear about Fev is true.

On a more positive note, everything you hear about Judd is true. The consummate professional.

Really dissapointing that this sort of stuff going on, would like to think our players are better than that.

I agree it is only fair to name the rest of them blueblooded, they are the ones at fault for this and if they are going to do this sort of stuff then they should be prepared to face up to it when it comes out.

Does anyone remember which thread after last week's match had a post by one of our own who bumped into a bunch of our boys out. Wondered whether it might be relevant?

It was a very interesting post - he told us that JR knew about the shit he cops and that Jammo told him he was going to have to carry his shoulder injury ....

I however would have to think that Gibbsy, Murph etc are the young crew most likely to be out with Fev

:thumbsu: Agree. The other 5 players should be named. Name and Shame them. The only way to stamp this shit out is to get the spotlight on the culprits and put a stop to it. All 8 should be kicked up the arse.

Ratt's and Judd should be communicating over this.

Judd knows they were out. They would've looked like ******* zombies at training so its obvious they went on to long after he left.

Toughen the **** up on these repeat offenders and send a clear zero tolerance message to the rest.

What happened with the pairing of players over the end of season break......"come back in good shape and in a professional state"

It worked.

But during the season they can abuse their bodies and act unprofessional? a core group within our club go and get shit faced after a loss and prior to a recovery session the next morning?

If this crap doesn't get stopped now its only going to worsen as the younger guys get deeper entrenched.

I did hear some worrying reports about Murph during the summer but he came back in great shape and great form. Hope he has not tarnished that!

I'm not going to publicly name players for being out late and jumping in a cab to go wherever they ended up, my issue and original post was mainly with fev for not showing the maturity that he should have for allowing it to happen and in fact, as others have backed me up on, being the main culprit of having a rather large night, if people would like i will write a letter to the club naming players that were drinking until the last i saw of them which was 3-4 in the morning, the fact that as others have stated (not me as i was not a witness after that time) they were seen past the time that i saw them, i.e fev 8 in the morning, is not for me to bring up as i cannot guarantee the names of all players that were out past the last time that i witnessed, I only know that there were sightings past this time, which i do not doubt.

I mentioned hoops was drinking and his ommission from the team, considering that he wasnt playing all that bad, may have been a result of rocking up the next morning in a less than acceptable state, purely speculation on my behalf, but i found it interesting that he had a big night and was out of the team the following week.

Scotto was well behaved, he was having a drink (not illegal), he did leave with the rest of the group, once again can't guarantee he was out past that point.

Half the side was there and the majority of them were well behaved and left at a reasonable hour, a few kicked on!

My main concern is some were not planning on going home at that time from what i was hearing, as others have made reference to a few were seen past the last time i saw them. I see this as unprofessional and a slap in the face to the people who put so much time, effort and money into these guys that they compromise their preperation to follow a clown til all hours of the morning.

From what i've been hearing a few boys have been getting out on the town a bit to regularly, and somebody has got to put a leash on fev before he corrupts our young stars! End of story!

BB you have to name the players, this is bullshit. We need to start naming and shameing, like many people here we waste our hard earned by giving to the club every time they ask for our money. I am sick of this shit, sick of them not giving a shit, last night even on the TV you could see they couldn't be bothered to run, or chase or do anything. This has to end, we have missed the boat with Fev given him too many chances, and now he is corrupting the kids. Time to end this crap, we are a proud club, we can't tolerate this.

Blueblooded I thankyou for your honesty and would be happy to assist in anyway getting this news through to the club. I think it is important to address. This is not to create a scandal or "any publicity is good publicity". It is to help make our beloved club better on and off the field.

I stick by my view that it is not right to only 'out' 3 of the players who were allegedly among a group of 8 seen getting into a Maxicab at 4.00am, with a view to continuing their night/morning out. All 8 of them (if it is that many) are equally as culpable.

As for your last paragraph, Fev will only be able to corrupt those who either want to be corrupted or are too weak to say no. I am not condoning Fev's behaviour, as it not good enough, but it concerns me that there are at least another 5 players who seem to be heading down a similar road to Fev, Hoops & Scotty. Those players need to be brought to task sooner, rather than later, otherwise they will get to their mid-late 20s & be letting the club down like the aforementioned 3 players seem to be allegedly still doing.
